I guess that it's time to upgrade my lumia 800.
The whole thing is cringe-worthy.
Blatantly lying about things to cover her incompetence is much worse than the original bullshit itself imo.
Well, you can't share pictures from the build-in Facebook chat, so she is kinda right about that.
You know, WP GAF gets a lot of flak for claiming conspiracies against WP, but that CNET shit is just depressing. Like, it depresses me. I am depressed.
I've been thinking of going to the 1020 from the iPhone. The lack of developer support is what's holding me back. I love the camera.
Isn't it ironic that windows phone has been out for years and can't seem to garnish more developer support? Reminds me of apple with the Mac in the late 90s before students really started buying MacBooks. Mac users were so devoted to the product and to Apple but the developers were all making stuff for windows. Now Microsoft finds itself in that position with WP. I think Microsoft just kind of thought "hey we are Microsoft, everyone wants to develop for windows. They will run to us to develop for WP just the same". Except that isn't happening and MS strategy just isn't aggressive enough "triple market share by 2018"?! What happened to trying to do that by 2014??
Oh well.
I'll probably be a cheap-ass and get a lumia 520. The other platforms haven't done anything to win me over.Sticking with windows phone or jumping ship?
I had an iPhone since 2008... The reason I am having a lumia delivered today? I sat down and looked at the apps!
Every one I needed (where I absolutely can't replace with anything) was available... To my surprise even my NAS apps were available.
Everything I wanted has a quality alternative replacement outside of my banking app which was complete ass on iPhone anyways (TD Canada Trust)
Hurry up UPS
Yeah, I would like an RBC app. Lazy shits made an "ok" one for Windows 8, but can't be bothered for WP8.
Some new WP8.1 stuff

edit: also, some quality posts in that Cortana thread
CIBC has an app for just about every platform... except Windows Phone. Fortunately though, the mobile site is pretty good and has all the functionaltiy I would need from a native app so it doesn't really bother me (yet).Yeah, I would like an RBC app. Lazy shits made an "ok" one for Windows 8, but can't be bothered for WP8.

WP 8.1 is shaping up quite nicely, I have to say.
I wonder how much it'll cost outright...Telus now lists the 1020 as coming soon.

it should only get better with the re-org. Keyword should. Already seen a lot of positive moves and cooperation is at an all-time high.
Facebook is built into the OS, there's nothing simpler than sharing stuff on Facebook, especially pictures.
Of course there's also a separate Facebook app where you can post pictures too, but that's not even necessary.
That video and the clarifications that followed ("I didn't know about Facebook sharing, it only came with an update on the 29th of August") are utter bollocks.
The Facebook complaint is probably the biggest problem with the video. Windows Phone has a deep Facebook intergration since the first release back in 2010. It was basically the "Facebook phone", before others got around to implement some kind of integration. At the very first setup you can put in your Facebook login details and from there on you can post, share, like and comment within the whole OS or contacts app, without having to use the official app. If you want a more complete and sophisticated experience, you can still use the app that does pretty much all the things you could ask for.
Please read this OT or the previous one, which is linked in the current OT.
That really happened? Maybe someone should've linked her her old Windows Phone 7.5 review.
Is there a cutoff line for which devices will be getting 8.1? Specifically asking about the lumia 521.
Are we? From the obvious iVerge reviews and articles, and now this - its hard facts that those outlets either don't give a shit and cover stuff carelessly, or just ignore facts and numbers. It's like "WP 7.8 has integrated Facebook into the OS now" all over again.
So the Windows Phone team isn't treated the like red headed step child by the Windows team anymore?

They promised to give us updates 18 months after device launch. But they promised a lot of shit that didn't happen.

pretty funny, considering that even some of your colleagues are a bit confused by who's in charge of what.
Joe is in charge of the OS unit now.

iVerge: Why Apple's 64-bit iPhone chip is a bigger deal than you think
7.8 introduces Facebook integration, 8.0 removes it. I wonder what 8.1 will do.
Although I assume with the move to the Windows Kernal a 64-bit version is also available for when its required.

You forget that a very recent Facebook app update allows integration again. /mollywood
rudy is quiting his to job to pursue full time apps development!!
Well, if anyone gets him it will be MS so we should continue to get his terrific apps on the platform.Less than a year until he gets snatched up from a large company IMO.
Lets hope its Microsoft as his apps are some of the nicest looking and easily usable apps on the WP platform.Less than a year until he gets snatched up from a large company IMO.

Can anyone help me?
My phone(Nokia 920 AT&T) will not focus when I try to take a picture of a busy flat surface, specifically my quilting projects. When it tries to focus and the flash goes off, I see that it focuses perfectly, then it loses it when it takes the picture.
Is there any way or app to manually focus? It is driving me crazy. I can't use Nokia Pro camera app yet.

Weird question, but have you tried it without the focus flash assist?
