The Beast and the Boy probably won't be available for wide viewing outside Japan (and I guess France) this year.

I was going to say that, but I wouldn't be so sure. If it's like Hosoda's other films, it'll open in Japan in Summer - probably June or July, and it'll show up in film festivals before the end of the year in France, New York (NYCFF), and maybe UK (Scotland Loves Anime). I expect it to open in Asia as well. The DVD/BD should be out by Feb 2016, and there'll be a "mysterious" delay in getting the AOTY 2015 thread up, which just happens to push the deadline past the release date. :p

NYCIFF is held in February (this year's schedule with When Marnie Was There was just announced), so that won't be before the end of the year. But if you want to rig the game by delaying the thread and overriding the usual rule that films only count in their year of BD release, then that's certainly your prerogative!

Oh, I thought it would be in Sept or something, weird. Why are you accusing me of rigging anything! I don't even make these threads! I have no power over the people who do! I'm just saying, sometimes... things happen! :)

Give a whole new meaning to food porn.

Aldnoah Zero 16

I know Marito is coming this episode and i know he will waste AZ's screen time again.
I mean, i prepared for that.

But it still end up way worse than i thought, over 50% of this episode is focus on Marito and he still doing nothing? what the fuck?

I'm glad to have Nanami around. A Nana Mizuki heroine who's unabashedly heroic. Though both of them still get involved in heavy yuri subtext with animal girls. That massage scene was something special. Having most of the episode revolve around a tentacle/slime monster that tears off clothes has more than a few shades of Neptunia/To Love Ru to it, but I don't see that as a bad thing. After all, Nanami, Cou and Becky exterminated it in no time. It looks like those crystals are going to be playing a bigger role this season - I look forward to seeing what they add to the world, and if Sharl has anything to do with them.

why that robot has to be so ugly, ruined the scene.... random undressing in the end what?

not sure if this was good or not. sure the kaiju looked cool.

Aldnoah Zero 16

I was hoping that Lt. PTSD would actually do something worthwhile but nope Godnaho had to save his ass once again. Really tired of his arc.

At least it looked like they took that Knight alive. Hes in the intro so I guess he cant be killed off 5 minutes after he was revealed.

I'm starting to warm up to Slaine. I always forgot he spent majority of his life on Vers and that theres a reason for him to fight besides just for Asseylum. Kind of crazy to see his growth from avoiding violence to just killing people left and right to get what he wants.

So speaking of films and OVAs for this year, it's actually pretty packed in terms of content. How each one turns out if anyone's guess though.

Films:
Yamato 2199 Movie
Psycho-Pass Movie
New Ghost in the Shell Movie
Miss Hokusai
Boy and the Beast
Girls und Panzer Movie
Project Itoh: Genocidal Organ
Project Itoh: Harmony

OVAs:
Little Witch Academia 2
Code Geass Akito the Exiled 3
Code Geass Akito the Exiled 4
Gundam the Origin 1
Under the Dog (might make it out in 2015 if Kinema Citrus is actually starting production)

Probably a bunch of stuff I'm forgetting too.

Death Parade - 04

Damn , this episode..

I loved this episode.

I'm sad right now because of this episode.

I think the show works , and i seriously thought the premise of death arcade wouldn't be as strong as the previous ones but it still worked perfectly.

Maturity, bitches.
Duckroll forgot the most important film: The Love Live Movie.

I think that's worthy of a demodding.

I'm really interested in how the LWA2 OVA turns out. Mainly to see whether Otsuka can make a longer format work for the property and if they can transition it into either a TV series or movie series.

Hm... Hopefully it'll be shown in Norway as well. The Wind Rises was shown at a festival here in 2013, and last year they had Princess Kaguya and Giovanni's Island.

Project Itoh: The Empire of Corpses
Space Brothers #0
The Case of Hana and Alice
Sinbad
Cencoroll 2?
To All Corners of the World?
Maybe some viewable versions of previously released films such as Crayon Shin-Chan Movie 22, Shashinkan/Hinata no Aoshigure?

OVAs:
Little Witch Academia 2
Code Geass Akito the Exiled 3
Code Geass Akito the Exiled 4
Gundam the Origin 1
Under the Dog (might make it out in 2015 if Kinema Citrus is actually starting production)

I actually like that the story is focusing on the characters it is. Maccha Green and company were certainly over the top, but someone not burdened by leadership, free to explore the brightly-colored wonderland, has its appeal too. There's still 2/3rds of the series left for them to have their story, and Chiaya's already looks to be playing into something. Plus, with the somewhat obvious reveal that the stones
are empowering
, I have to wonder if the divide between the "Best" and the "Rest" is artificial. Without it, everyone is just... human. And since Chiaya's family wants them, there may be some plan in the making to reunite the prefectures... or drive them further apart. The Comiket land was fun, and I look forward to seeing what traits they exaggerate at the next stop they go to. It's Japan telling us what it thinks of Japan, even with the US-styled road signs and such that make things a little more culturally mixed.

I also miss that Milky Holmes TD wasn't on today, but I'm getting a new Precure debut tonight, so that's going to be fun.

My anime club showed it. I also backed it too though so I have a copy, just I don't think I made impressions on it when I watched it over a month ago

Gotcha. I have watched it several times. Its so adorable! But I do wish it was longer too and showed more of the world, which was quite an interesting idea. Perhaps they will kickstart another OVA.

I don't think Japan understands what people mean by 'Food Porn'. They heard the word 'porn' and instantly decided to make it sexual. Even Ben-to had unnecessary sexual shit on a show that would have been great if it was just really delicious looking food alongside the Wizard Wryyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Ben-To was a fun twist on fanservice at least. The food war stuff was hilarious. I dont mind fanservice when a show is that creative.

Don't worry, I think Trigger did too!

:(

D: I have great faith in Trigger!! They'll deliver!

Silly duckroll, you forgot that Kizumonogatari is coming out this year.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA it hurts so much :(

Shonen Hllywood -Holly Stage for 50- Episode 17 Because I am Your Idol

Yes a Tommy episode and it was fantastic. Happy tears from seeing Tommy in his drama role. I hope he gets even more and becomes successful, and the posters at the end of credits, nice.

Confuzzling confuzzled, lol

Aren't there like 3 books left to adapt ? It's now or never.

Aldnoah.Zero 16

In this episode, Inaho literally sniped away an earth based target from the reaches of space. While standing on the deck of a moving Deucalion to boot.

his mother going crazy trying to convince him to stay at home...since he's a grown-ass man.

yeah the whole "stay home" bit was a bit forced since he's supposed to be grown up, unless the mom has always been super protective/attached.

That's how it is for a lot of people, especially in Japan.

"The percentage of single Japanese between the ages of 20 to 34 who were still living together with their parents...had reached 48.9% (in 2012). In terms of numbers, that’s an estimated 13.4 million people."

Fixed. But yea, this year's OVA/Movie category is just going to be pretty much ranking the shorts in the Anime Expo along with Hosoda's film.

It's going to be hard to fit that in when every place will be dedicated to Kizu.

I don't know how everyone keeps forgetting Kizu!

We can't give up the hope, Kizu is surely just around the corner! And it will be magnificent with the most lavish fight animation Shaft has ever produced!

Rolling☆Girls Episode 4:

The soundtrack is getting better but still is not eclectic as it should be. Anyway, this was a much better episode then last, as it remember that giving the girls some actually personality and such is a good things. The main theme here was about leadership examined through the duality of Nozomi stepping up to become the leader of the Rolling Girls and the failure of leadership of Thunderoad whp put selfish desires cloud her judgement.

Rolling Girls 04

I REALLY hope the watercolor backgrounds aren't a permanent fixture for the show. It just completely takes me out of the show when I see the Character designs clash with the backgrounds. It was better than the previous episode since we got some actual crazy animation (despite it being incredibly brief) but my fears seem to be realized in that following a bunch of Rest will impact how much crazy Sakuga scenes we will have. I still have no idea what the overarching plot is. This show doesn't like explaining things in too much detail I've found out. I do like how the characters are becoming more fleshed out and realized though. I hope episode 5 can deliver the goods.

Log Horizon 16

The most uninteresting arc thus far this season because it focuses on the younger members of Log Horizon -- who aren't nearly as interesting as the other members of the guild, but it still moves the plot forward and expands on the world building.

You might want to drop out now as I don't see them dropping the artstyle. Also, Rolling, Falling, Scrambling Girls. For others. For themselves. Even if they’re destined to be a "mob". These girls are never going to be bests, that is the point apparently.
