Now as for actually posting them now that I'm done...I think I'm just gonna wait til after I watch Adolescence. It's not even a matter of how important it is as it is just getting myself in the mood to do it, which I'm just not in right now.

I actually watched this a couple of hours ago, but I fell asleep.

Kiriya is such a monkeybutt. "You don't know how I feel. That caused me a great inconvenience!" FUCK YOU, you pathetic whiny little prick. You had to stop for half a minute and acknowledge the existence of people? Oh yeah, that was totally worth stomping on that girl's heart like that. What the hell do they see in you? You're a douchebag and you're not even that good-lookking. You look like you're on cocaine withdrawal.

I think maybe I have just had more experience with shows containing a villain like that, because I had a much more positive impression of Kiriya.
To me he was one of a long line of enemy turncoat characters trying for redemption against fate, and I like those kinds of characters.
they are a bit cold hearted by nature of being evil, yet obviously they try to be whatever their perception of normal is.
they are in essence tragic characters.

Sometimes it's a bit stressful trying to figure out what to talk about in an episode, though, I almost feel obligated to try and make my impressions as dense as I can. I guess it's an ego thing more than anything, though. Just writing 'it was good' would probably be easier on me, but a bit unsatisfactory. I always feel like I could have a lot more to say about an episode or a movie or something, but never quite being able to express it in a way I'd really prefer.

Apart from the fact that I prefer to marathon series anyway, this is also one of the reasons I only typically write impressions after I've finished something. I enjoy the process of articulating my thoughts, but I think it's a stretch to apply that to every episode. I think its much easier to construct that sort of analysis when you're not constrained by the episodic format, and bound by things like speculation.

They're are always exceptions, though; and I'm sure that when I finally get round to watching Utena, I'll appreciate all of Syrinx's conjecture!

And now that I read my post, it really isn't very accurate. I did write some fairly detailed impressions (some more detailed than others). I just didn't delve much into the symbolism and meaning and such.

I watch a lot more stuff than I write impressions of. Like some have said, sometimes it is because there really isnt much to say.
Many shows are just random jokes or situations around a loose theme so what is there to say outside of merely being descriptive? I could say "well this episode was adorable" but thats not really saying much.

True, but I figure impressions are not just for yourself and those who have already seen the show, but they also give a glimpse to those who haven't seen it yet. Just look at the many people recently that have taken up watching iDOLM@STER and Toradora. Sometimes I feel that one sentence impressions sell the shows short, good or bad.

A lot of the time when I watch a show, I struggle to find things to say about it. I have a terrible short-term memory, so often times when I finish an episode I only have one or two things to say. If I write a really long impression it's because I spent nearly an hour doing so by constantly rewatching bits of the episode to remind me of what I just watched. ;_;

That, or I write it as I watch, which means I constantly have to stop and write, which makes it take an hour or so to watch a single episode. :/

School festivals usually make for good episodes and this one was, typical Kyon antics, fancy actor Koizumi were the best parts, and then Kyon at the end there. Potentially the second best band performance in a non idol anime since Angel Beats I guess, just need more flash.

By what measure do you think this show is a success? It's not selling, it's not consistent enough to be a good adaptation, the art is all over the place, the direction is spotty, there's nothing episodic about it at all so there aren't even good episodes which can stand entirely on their own. It's not going to be remembered fondly critically, and it has failed to provide a return on investment. I'm not saying "there is nothing good about the show at all", but rather "when looking at the objectives of the staff and the producers, and comparing the rate of success overall against what they hoped to achieve, it is a failure".

It sucks when people who have some talent fail to make their mark on a project because of a bunch of factors even though they tried, but it happens.

Well, you said by any measure, so I assumed you meant "any." Even with all of its flaws, I would still say it's better than 90% of anime, which says a lot about the general quality of anime. And I think the show has better maintained its watchers here than some recent shows, like Psycho Pass or Robotics;Notes.

Dearka needs way more screentime, Athrun too. Really emotional scenes for Athrun and the realization of what he did to his precious best friend. Got to me when the brief glimpses of the past were shown too, if only he knew. Ending was plain mindblowing.

I do that too. I just spend my first time watching an episode zoning out and letting stuff happen. If I really feel like making a post about it, I rewatch it and write random thoughts down that I develop through edits after I've posted later.

I don't usually feel like posting about episodes though. I don't usually have anything interesting to contribute.

This looks pretty good and judging from that preview Branwen will show up plenty (Tomoe is nice, but I simply love the girl drawn by Oda Non more).

I was 100% sure Branwen was featured in the Queen's Blade Perfect Collection artbook (I remember posting about how cool it was that she was in there) and went looking for her name, and couldn't find her at all. I'm starting to think I dreamed seeing her in the book.

No Rebellion characters in the big 2009 collection book except for the single group illustration at the back, which doesn't have Branwen.

Like the Kiss x Sis OVAs it really is a case of "I can't believe it's not hentai" or "How far can we push it without being classified as hentai". Whereas real ecchi is usually quite tame with a twist/hook added in to draw a particular audience.

I thought it was a pretty dull episode. I guess giving backstory on a character I just couldnt feel connected with at all and extending it just about the whole episode just didnt work. However what happened at the start made for an interesting set events to unfold and was actually surprised they showed it.

I guess what I really wanted to say is I'd like if you give some sort of context as to why you liked it or what parts of the episode you liked/didn't like. I'm not looking for a thesis here.
