How is that relevant?

Like it or not, society will highlight that in these news stories. It makes the killers seem even more monstrous in societies eyes, despite the fact that killing innocent people is monstrous no matter what their appearance is.

What kind of man do you think you are for beating up a helpless woman with help? Nothing but scum.

Maybe she's just as much to blame as they are?

Even if it was the case that her words may have inflamed the group of five to beat her up, a person yelling or saying obscenities is not a valid defense for self-defense or to beat up others just because you can. If that's the case, people claiming self defense on supposed assault cases would be going through the roof

Second degree? Fuck that, they all need to be put away forever. Anyone that would violently attack someone over such a non issue deserves the worst punishment possible by law. Anything less is a slap on the wrist and practically condoning their actions.

Although I don't know the homicide laws in CA, in the majority of states the prosecutor will never get first degree murder because from what we know from the facts, it wasn't deliberate or premeditated. Meaning that the defendants need to make a decision to kill in a cool and dispassionate manner and actually reflect on the idea of killing. What we have here is not a deliberate or premeditated murder. Like I said before, in majority of states this type of crime will fall under second degree murder because the defendants intended to inflict serious bodily harm when they stomped on the victim's head. They most likely didn't intend to kill her, but only to inflict serious bodily harm. If the victim didn't die, the defendants would have faced a serious battery charge, but since she died, they will now be charged with second degree murder...IMHO.

Second Degree murder is the highest crime the defendants can be convicted of, IMHO

I don't think the photo was the main cause. I think we're missing something. People doing stuff like this is bullshit, regardless.

They were all wrong. We've all walked through people's photos before by mistake and most of us had enough courtesy to apologize and the photographers had enough common sense not to try and fight us over it.

She seemed like a nice person. Even if she wasn't and walked in front of camera because she was a d-bag of epic proportions she didn't deserve this. I'm sure her friends are beating themselves up and probably will for the rest of their lives. She didn't even want to go out.

If I see you recording video during a fight instead of trying to stop it I will spit in your eyes.

I understand having video or photo evidence is good, go ahead take a pic, but don't just stand there like a jackass recording so you can get some views on YT.

What's wrong with saying she was beautiful? Are you guys offended because you're ugly or is there something I'm missing here? I don't follow. You can just say someone is beautiful. Doesn't need relevance.

People are trying desperately to dig in other people posts for controversy.

I can understand having issues with a news piece bringing it up like in the other story but who cares if a gaffer noticed she was attractive.

In this context it implies that the tragedy is greater because she was physically attractive.

Fucking disgusting. If I was outside of a nightclub and 5 people were attacking this poor girl I'd risk getting outnumbered to fuck them up

Not really. "A beautiful looking person died" =/= the death of a beautiful person sucks more than the death of an average-looking person

Crazy! I used to hang out there a lot a few years ago. What's nuts about this story is that witnesses say it happened so fast that by the time people tried helping it was too late. In the video you can see the security guard pulling guys of her.

Wouldn't be surprised if the guys involved were gangbangers. Few years ago a 23 year old got killed by two gang members for a wallet right around the block from there.

People are so fucking stupid. Beating someone because they accidentally walked in front of a photo? Not like they could just take another one, right? It's terrible. RIP. :(

I'm asking if it would be less tragic if she was ugly.

Oh come on...of course not. Buy you cant seriously be asking to completely ignore that the girl was attractive. It's like ignoring when a mother gets killed, a dad, an autistic kid, a good student, a child, etc etc.

And here I've photobombed (in the background) people on-purpose before at/in clubs a few times. It's always ended in laughing and joking around and meeting a couple new people, though. I can't imagine what I would do if someone lost their shit and started beating me over it.

I remember hanging out with a buddy there who was quick to temper. Always worried the shit out of me. Alcohol + groups especially guys trying to act tough around girls = trouble.

Yea, this happens all of the time. All I can think of is that some people act a lot differently when they have been drinking. It's possible that someone said something and the girl retialiated verbally. Even so, it's not grounds for a mob beatdown.

Yea, from my experience, it's usually the girls I'm with that end up starting trouble (usually shorter girls too-it's weird). I recall going out a few times and literally betting money with friends on whether or not a particular girl would end up crying or getting into a fight. She actually did both that night and I ended up winning the bet.

Agreed, don't really get the backlash towards attributing positive qualities to people who have just died.

Yeah, the poster was simply presenting one of the few positive qualities about the person he could ascertain as a complete and total stranger. I'd imagine if she wasn't attractive he'd harp on about her youth or something.

The escalation was unwarranted, but depending on what the confrontation was about, whether her "friends" were making threats or whatnot, I can only assume that they had a part in the escalation of the event.

As for your second part, don't bother. I didn't say the escalation was logical, but to say the texting had NO PART in his murder would be a lie.

The escalation isn't what I'm arguing, the fact that (if what is said in the article is true and the way I'm reading it is the way it is being presented) then yes, the friends have a part in her death. As sad and tragic as it is.

Please don't turn this into one of those idiotic "YOU THINK SHE DESERVED TO BE RAPED?!?" circle jerk arguments. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that according to what is presented in the article, whatever argument happened between the 'friends' and the 'group' that they had a part in her death.

Point taken. I didn't understand exactly what you were arguing at first but I see now what you mean.

I'll still wait to hear what they mean by "argument" and who was involved (if someone stepped on one of her friends' shoes and she said "hey!", I wouldn't consider that bearing part to be honest; now if they were pushing people around and starting shit, that's a bit different).

I did it once, I got beat up badly, but I never regret doing that. You can't just do nothing.

Same here. I was sitting quietly in a coffee shop when these kids walked in and it was obvious they were looking for trouble. They kept antoginizing the guy behind the counter, smashed a glass container and one of them began to pound on him. I jumped in and pulled the guy off. He says some words to the barrista and then walks out. I sit back to do some work and then he walks in with 3 other guys. I then start thinking to myself what did I just get involved in. Just my luck, the sirens sounded and they ran out right after.

It appears they've arrested and charged their first suspect, a woman named Vanesa Tapia Zavala. She's apparently a 25 year-old mother.

Odds are she'll rat out her friends for a plea deal and we'll know the other people soon.

I was at this bar just a few weeks ago. It is a tiny place. Read the yelp reviews. I submitted my review and they took it down. Yelp is messed up. Lots of Mexican thugs in Santa Ana too. I hope they close that place down. Security did Nothing.

To kill someone over a photobomb... I don't believe it, there's gotta be more to it. No way in hell can this be true. If so, I really don't know how ppl in this world can get even more scummy than this.
