Would you ever consider abandoning consoles entirely for PC in the future?

I consider it every gen, what's keeping me from abandoning them right now are some of the Nintendo exclusives. It's stronger than me. SEGA forced me to abandon them, had a PS1 and a PS2 but the price of the PS3 kept me away from it initially and the amount of multiplatforms (from PS3/360) that the PC started to get made me not get back on that train (PS exclusives never really got my total interest).

I love to game on my PC, by far my favorite platform, but unless Nintendo completely loses it and their games turn to shit, I don't think I'll fully abandon consoles in a near future.
 
JRPGs always been the main reason why I buy consoles and more and more JRPGs are released on Steam these days, so yeah, I can see myself without consoles in the future. Not quite there yet though.
 
Of course. I would, probably, in the case where both Nintendo ceases doing hardware and Japanese console software development collapses.

Both those things happening isn't impossible in a dark future for gaming.

Pressing that power button on PC and before i can even fart i'm in steam with 2000 games installed and just one click away of playing them, absolute chore....

The biggest chore and dilemma is should i play on the couch on 70" 4k HDR or on my 1440p 165hz on my ergo PC chair, gives me headache should i play on mouse and keyboard or on one of 10x game-pads, Hotas, Wheels in front me, seriously who needs all that headaches.

When you can just turn your PS4 and be in Zen mode staring on blue screen for 10-20min while game updates puts me in the good mood and ready for aim assist to take over once the game starts, oh i love that aim-assist makes me feel like a god i don't even have to do nothing just pull the trigger and boom head-shot!

But honestly the absolute worst thing on PC is i have to keep re-playing same old games in my library for last 20 years, on consoles you have options to keep buying them every 4 years with new smell package and resolution bump already done for you no need to move any sliders and use your energy like on PC.

PC is absolute chore period!
 
Frankly as it stands I might as well already do this. Nearly all of my purchases were cross platform one.
 
Nope. Console market helps drive the PC market / gaming market. PC gaming could not survive if consoles went out. Although i do think the inevitable endgame for consoles is basically a PC.
 
Lol no. console exclusives dominate my game purchases these days. PC is mostly for VNs i can't get on console. I've more or less abandoned PC gaming entirely.
 
Nope. I enjoy consoles for more lengthy games like RPG or open world where I can kick back and enjoy the game. Pc is for fast paced shooters which should only be played using a mouse and keyboard :p
 
It would only happen for me if every game out there had a PC release. Since that isn't happening, I'll be buying consoles.
 
Will not make that mistake again. Did that before ( In PS1 Era ) Never again. I missed so much great games its not even funny.
 
i'm a server admin at work so to me:

PC = Workstation = Machine primary for work

thus

Playstation = Playstation = Machine primary for play

i don't care what #PCMasterRace says.....i'm more technical than all of those snobs ever will be.........i just want to play some games....i don't want to tweak the settings and config files when i want to have some fun. I am already doing those tweaking at work.
 
Never been in a position to afford more than one system per generation.

While desktops have additional utility to justify the price (~$1000 even with self-assembly and bargain hunting), unless I have a major windfall in disposable income, I can't really justify getting something else until this rig needs replacing
Even then, my steam library practically mandates a pc that can at least keep up with xbone/ps4
 
I don't think so, I love my new PC, and right now I look forward to playing all these games that are releasing soon in that UHD glory with Ultra Effects. But, not only will exclusive games bring me back to console, well PS ones since Xbox exclusives I will probably play some at the PC with play anywhere feature, I love the simplicity of the consoles. It is so much easier to turn on and be in a party and a game with just a few button presses. I don't find PC complicated, but I do like the role and simplicity the console offers.
 
Besides Nintendo handhelds (and now the Switch) I gave up on consoles after the end of last generation. Unless something drastically changes with how I enjoy games I don't think I'll ever own a Sony/MS home console again.

My laptop, which is very strong and can still play new releases at high settings, fills the niche that those home consoles filled while also letting me play lots of are great RPGs (ie Pillars of Eternity) and strategy games (ie Paradox grand strategy games) that don't really come to consoles. Super happy with my decision to move to PC.

I actually think I have saved money in the long run since games on Steam are so cheap and I needed to own a pretty powerful laptop for my job anyway (meaning I dont feel like the money I spent on it was all "wasted" on my hobby).
 
I have already.

I haven't spent money in the last six years on needing to upgrade any pieces of my pc and I don't have to tweak. Things just work.

I do have a ps3 that I play every now and then. Then wife's cousin has a ps4 I get to play on.

If I am gifted one sure I may play on it as much as my ps3.
 
After seeing the quality of the exlusives with dated hardware and hearing all my PC buddies drool over exclusive games like Uncharted 4 and Horizon. Hells no I will never consider giving up console gaming.
 
Never. And I say that as someone who primarily games on PC.
Sony's and Nintendo's exclusives are too good to abandon consoles.

So my PS3 and PS4 and Sony exclusive machines and my Wii U and Switch are Nintendo exclusive machines. Sure, it's more expensive, but the cost overall is worth it for me.
 
I have dropped my Xbox One because of my PC, and will not be getting a Scorpio either.
But i love my PS4 Pro and my Switch. Would never give them up.
 
I tried doing this at the start of this gen.

I built a semi respectable pc with a 4690k r9 290 and 16gb 2400mhz ram (I do a lot of audio production)

However I just don't seem to be able to get comfortable when gaming on pc and I constantly get distracted and just sit tweaking options and running frame rate counters to check things are performing right.

I got a steam link to try to combat this but I've had so many issues with games not working quite right such as fallout 4 and quantum break not registering control inputs that I've just given up as a bad job.

Now I'll just use it for work and Microsoft exclusives if they get any that in interested in.
 
I love my PC. Its my favorite gaming platform. But I am coming back to consoles for switch. I like having a companion system to my PC.
 
After several goes at it through the years I don't think so. At least not until a console and home computer become damn near the exact same thing as makes no difference.

I've never been happier with gaming than when I finally decided to remove it entirely from my PC universe. Now my desktop is purely about day to day stuff and doing work and is built to that spec and maintained for that purpose, while consoles with the home theater and comfy couch are my go to for games and video.

It keeps costs down by avoiding expenses associated with PC hardware upgrades targeted at gaming performance, saves time by not having to study that hardware or to tweak each game with its own profiles, and I experience damn near 100% reliability with the games themselves, and I'm not distracted by gaming when on the PC.

It just works, perfectly, for me.

Have you lived in a cave for a decade or something?

If there is a platform where local multiplayer games reside, is PC. Far outnumber every other current platform on it.
 
Already have. Haven't had a console since the PS2 days and a handheld since the DS Lite. I may get a PS4 if Death Stranding never sees a PC release but I'm still hoping it does.
 
Not as long as consoles still get great exclusive games, which admittedly they seem to have far fewer of this generation, but if The Last Of Us: Part Two ends up being as good as the first I'll have to pick up a PS4 just for that eventually, maybe after a few more price cuts.

And Nintendo of course, unless they start putting their games on PC which I would love.
 
I'm still scarred from having video cards and other PC hardware with issues. I've had much more luck with the ease and reliability of consoles.

PC gaming will always have a place in my heart though for RTS and MMOs in particular.
 
Absolutely. I already did for like five years. I did get a Ps4 Pro a month ago though, since I got myself a 4k tv. But PC has more than enough good games to sustain this hobby of mine.
