webrunner said:Every expansion so far has had a lot of features that are available to "old world" users. It's only the actually new zones and level cap that having the expansion gave you. In fact, they tend to be reeleased a month or so before the expansion as the X.0.0 patch.. a 3.0.0 player with just the original game still has 51 point talents in their trees (and can just barely get one).
In fact, although Jewelcrafting was BC-only (the only trainers are in BC cities) Inscription is available to everyone.
Because each expansion only works if the other is installed previously and tied to your account.Ether_Snake said:But I mean why would a new player buy the other expansions?
Wren said:If this all turns out to be true I want to know how the hell they're going to to introduce so much old world content while still requiring you to buy the expansion. As someone said earlier this sounds more like WoW2 than an actual expansion.
What are they going to do? Patch all the new-old continent stuff in than force you to buy an expansion which only allows you to play as two new races with an increased level cap of 85? I'm sure you could instance the entire world of Azeroth but that just seems like an incredibly bad idea.

Can someone please send me a scroll of resurrection. I wanna start playing again but I don't feel like waiting till tomorrow when I get a game card. That's a free month of wow, first person to respond wins.

Belfast said:What would be the point of making it a low-level zone when you're already far past the need to level in it?
Belfast said:You guys really don't know how expansions work? Even if you have the files on your system, it's as simple as restricting your account from accessing certain parts of the world. There *are* going to be completely new zones in addition to the reworked old ones. Don't count out rumors of water vehicles and combat, either, or the numerous other things we haven't heard a lick about yet.
If I was a player, I'd sure like to be able to see that stuff. To say the expansion "only" offers a couple of new races and some extra experience to earn is seriously underplaying things.
Ether_Snake said:What I'm saying is people will go "wooooooooooooooh, new stuff, even for level 1! I'm starting all over again, I'm back into WoW!". Then "I hit 60, ah shit! BC all over again here I go. Ok, I hit 70! Ah shit, WotLK again!".
I don't see Blizzard requiring people to buy the other two expansions, other than if you want the races from BC or the blood knight, etc. but who knows.
Wren said:But what were talking about here sounds like a complete overhaul of vanilla WoW. How does Blizzard plan on restricting that much content, and if there are no restrictions besides the inevitable two new cities and races what motivates me to buy their expansion?

Puncture said:New comers. Basically they could flat out reboot every fucking thing involving the leveling experience from 1 to max level if they decided to spend the money, and god knows they can afford it.
They may just completely scrap the old stuff and make a way for existing characters to transition. It would be unheard of, would actually add massive replay value for the 4+ year vets and if they pulled it off successfully, would surely be copied by other games down the line in the genre.
Belfast said:Oh yes, I know. He was implying that you would have to be Level 80+ to see the "new" Azeroth, which would really defeat the purpose of turning a place like Azshara into a 10-20 zone, if you had already leveled far past it.
Puncture said:eep, I misunderstood. Sorry.

Meadows said:On a side note this fits in my book. Myself and other friends all agree that when stuff of the next expansion leaks, it's NEVER lore. No lore from BC or WotLK ever leaked before Blizz published them - let alone massive plot-twists and serious changes...
The only thing ever leaked was the basics: New races, New professons, new land, new class, ect...
So the goblin/worgen thing we could buy, even along with the actual cataclysm and phased old azarothian events. A whole detailed well-writen synopsis for Garrosh assasinating Carnine and massive details about the Goblin defection to the horde are just waaaaay too much detail to be believed.
Never ever any lore - let alone lore to this detailed degree.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. There are definite murmurings of things in official Blizzard products that are probably 100% confirmed. And it wouldn't surprise me if some things were an intentional leak - why are MMO-Champion putting a "watch Blizzcon!" advertisement on their post? Aion is incoming (whether it makes a dent or not is better saved for shittier threads) and what better marketing scheme to whip some fervor into past & present gamers of WoW by releasing details of an expansion before a major corporation event.. only to be able to stream the entire Blizzcon event so people can see it all unfold.Blast Processing said:So it was all BS. I'll be interested in seeing what actually comes out of Blizzcon, then.
Dina said:Tempting, but I'm really not going to lvl another character just to experience some rehashed content. 5 new lvls? Judging by my previous add-on experience, it seems like I'll be done leveling in 1,5 week.
i bet there will be people that stream the stream for free so dont worry that you miss the announcementshintoki said:Holy shit:lol
Blizzcon will have a live stream going
And all for the low low price of.....39.99. You'll get 18hours+ of footage.
Also the only mortal to ever challenge the Lich King for the Prince of Darkness title will be there live in concert.
I don't know if I should be crying or laughing.
1-2 days before blizzcon a webadmin was stupid and the exp website of wrath was online for like 5 min and someone found it and posted screens of it so at that point everything was confirmed :lolRPGCrazied said:Hopefully they will announce it before blizzcon.
Didn't they announce BC/Lich alittle before blizzcon hit?
Yes please, I'm reading the book atm and it's awesome (content wise, since it's not written that well)AzureNightmareXE said:Here is a sure thing: There will probably be another CoT dungeon, most likely a raid. its content? The War of The Ancients.

There are zones in Azeroth we've never even been to.Dina said:What's funny about it? I couldn't stand lvling in WotLK no matter how fast they made it. And 5 new levels is still 5 new levels in an world that's not even new.

Number 2 said:So if im understanding correctly, Cataclysm Azeroth is something that is unlocked at higher level.. they are phased zones for high-level, end-game content. So the vanilla Azeroth is still there for when you level 1-60? i know this is all speculation and there hasnt been an official announcement but do i have this right?
i would probably come back for a month or two just to see the new stuff.. like how i did with WotLK. And as much as i would love to roll a Troll Druid.. i dont know if i can do the leveling thing again. ive done too many im so freaking burned out on leveling.. esp when the old world was pretty much dead lvl 25-55.
