WOW OMG: Steam is refunding No Man's Sky even if you played more then 2 hours

This thread just proves how messed up the way consumer rights are viewed.

Never forget

I'm at a loss with the defenders in this thread.

If you bought a TV and it only turned on 80% of the time (or turned off intermittently), would it be 'shameful' to ask for a refund? Of fucking course not.

So why is it somehow different for games? It's a product that stopped working properly. After two days of use. Tell me again why he doesn't have the right to ask for a refund?

Game has become litteraly unplayble on my ps4 as well, it crashes on the opening sequence.. I think I have about 20 hours on it so I didn't bother trying to get a refund, but after reading through this thread I decided to send their support an email.
Doesn't hurt to try I guess.

What was the original gif about? I forgot, Wipeout psp or something?

Edit: Oh right, Resogun. Well at least that was a good game worth throwing money at the screen. It would be so funny if it was NMS.

In other news, Sony is still Sony regardless of what other threads have claimed in terms of their refund policy on this game.

The "previous refund" he's talking about is that I pre-ordered Fallout 4 on PS4 and then decided against it before release after I saw some performance data. I received PSN store credit, not a "refund", so it literally cost Sony nothing more than the time of the chat agent I spoke with for ten minutes. Not exactly sure how I want to escalate this, but I don't think I'm done complaining at them yet.

People have been having really good luck with PSN live chat. I think that's what it is called.

Takes around 2-3 minutes in most cases. Some didn't even need to say what game it was for lol.

Wow thats pretty unfair given the product was not even released and a very strong reason to never pre-order from PSN

I just got a refund from chat. I did end up initializing my ps4 after being unable to rebuild my DB yesterday. Told them I didn't want to do any more troubleshooting. Mine had only crashed twice but I wasn't as far as those with more. I feel totally justified and only hope this helps bring about more consumer friendly digital rights.

Sadly lost PT but I doubt I would have played it again anyways

Thats what I was talking about earlier. A lot of these refunds are going through as the one time goodwill gesture. Would be interested to know how many people that have already used it up are getting refunds.

I understand why some people are looking refunds with maybe a day's play and see how much the game is missing from what we've been told but I really don't understand how after fifty hours of play they are due a refund?
I personally think that Steam are just avoiding a personal backlash, getting themselves some great CS publicity here. Hello Games are not big enough to fight back and it's not as if black balling steam will affect steam much. If this was EA or UBISOFT there's no way any of their games would be getting treated like this by steam.
Yes I agree the game disappoints me but I've already logged in over fifty hours of play, some of which I've really enjoyed and I'm hoping HG will fix and expand on.

Call them. All the chat support reps I've dealt with at Sony have been pretty poor, I'm also pretty sure they're outsourced to another country whereas their phone support is in the U.S.

Read the first page of the thread. Some people are having issues that render the game practically unplayable, that only occur dozens of hours in. They supplied an error log. It's a bit like the Skyrim PS3 debacle, where the game ran fine until your save file was huge and then slowed to a crawl or crashed/froze constantly.

Then those people should get a refund. HG really needs to make a statement on what the issue is and when it'll be fixed.
If it can't be fixed then the whole story needs to be made public.

Really? That sucks.

I thought PSN live chat are good for refunds. Oh well, keep trying until you get a good agent.

Maybe he spent 50 hours looking for the planet in the reveal trailer. He would probably need more than that.

You should never, ever pre-order on PSN unless you know you're going to love the game, reviews are out, etc. It's a terrible fucking option, in general.

Holy shit.

If that happened to me due to NMS...

No Man's Sky from being one of the most anticipated games of GAF to be one of the biggest dissapointments of the year. I'm actually starting to believe it has surpassed Destiny and Watch_Dogs in terms of dissapointment and bad word of mouth.

Thank goodness, I thought I was stuck with this game.

I was able to get a full refund with Amazon. I got it on day 1 and played less than an hour. My expectations were too high, unfortunately. Maybe in the future when it's less than $20, I'll give it another try. At its current state, it's not worth $60.

I think the game now deserves to be pulled and re-released using the early access model.
That'd be such a kick in the dick for those that that paid full price for a physical copy. Especially in Canada where our dollar is absolute shit. I paid $90 for it :(

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago when I tried to get a refund for this piece of shit game. In July I "cancelled" my pre-order for Dishonored 2. I told them I don't want them to put the money in my "wallet", I want my money back. If I went to a Gamestop and did this they would hand me a 5 dollar bill, not give me store credit.

Because I did that they would not authorize what they call a courtesy, one time refund for No Mans Sky.

Now...here's the best part. The above was after a conversation with a manager. The first line guy I spoke to said he could not do the refund because I have 50% of the trophies. I asked is that your criteria? Because the weight of the trophies varies depending how many ACTUAL trophies are in the game. This piece of crashing shit has like 20 something while other games have like 45-50 trophies.

All this has taught me is never buy digital games. I could have bought this thing via Amazon, got 20% off and sold it back to Gamestop when the hype was still high and maybe lost like 30 bucks. But it was a spur of the moment purchase in the middle of the night. Now I'm out 60 bucks for a game I deleted and a save file I deleted.

Destiny comes nowhere close to NMS when it comes to disappointment. Destiny at least had a lot of weapons, gear, missions to go along with AWESOME raids to do with 5 of your friends.

The Destiny thing was more along the lines of RNG based items, and I understand that. The game play itself was very good.

Maybe they could reward current buyers with full access. If the game was re-released as a £20 game but with each huge update costing £6.
The game has huge possibilities similar to how elite dangerous is funds and expanded.

Were the people going "lololol you played 50 hours you have no right for a refund" doing the same shit when the word about the PS3 Skyrim bug got out

Nah, complaints against Bethesda were pretty universal.

But the funny thing is, for some, sympathy is only deserved when you get screwed and stay screwed. When you get screwed and do something about it? STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!!!

I played the game pretty heavily for two days after release, but I had over twelve crashes during that time. Really burned me out on the game. I haven't played much since, and since then seeing all the misleading marketing on this game has really soured me on the whole thing. I'm very thankful I saw this thread and was able to get a PSN refund; if there is one game to use my "gesture of goodwill" on, it is definitely No Man's Sky.

Honestly, I would try again, keep asking for supervisors until you get one that will give you the refund. At least don't let it sit with one try. It's worked for me in the past with other things.
