maybe a heel cena turn is in store for a mania a few years down the line when nobody cares for him anymore (soon). they broke the streak. one day they'll have cena break.
This makes sense, considering how much the WWE leaks and how many matches/finishes we know in advance, and somehow the BIGGEST match ending somehow didn't make it out? I'm almost thinking that only Brock, Taker, HHH and Steph knew. The ref probably was told the finish by Taker when they got out there. I wouldn't even doubt them keeping it from Heyman so they could work him and get a real good reaction out of him
If Undertaker makes it to Raw I'm half expecting a retirement speech that gets interrupted by Sting, one more match yada yada. If it doesn't happen I think the next logical step, if Sting is coming in would be Cena but that might just be my pre-WWF/E debut impression of him, which I later learned I wasn't alone in making the Sting comparison.
- Batista Bomb/RKO combo to DBry through the announce table. Just fucking sick as hell, amazing spot.
- Opening promo with Hogan, Austin and The Rock. I really liked seeing these 3 together, and it just shows no matter what Hogan does, the fans will always love him no matter what. Austin and Rock ribbing him on the Silverdome mistake was hilarious.
- Cesaro winning the Battle Royale. I immediately noticed the similarity to Hogan/Andre when Cesaro scooped up Big Show for the body slam. Totally high on Cesaro right now, and let's hope this marks the beginning of a great babyface run.
My pick for the Royal Rumble winner!
- HHH/DBry match was just awesome. It was nice to see these two in the first match of the night and go nearly 30mins. They went full speed and never seemed to slow down. Both were on fire, and even Stephanie played her role to perfection (while looking hot as hell). Kudos goes to HHH for putting over DBry - clean - as I expected he would.

Can't get over how good last night was... clean wins for Bryan, that opening segment, Cesaro's big push and a big surprise finish that left everyone shocked. Great stuff.
i read an article saying that the Undertaker loss leaked an hour before the match which is why the bets turned into Brock's favor.. anyone hearing the same?

Apparently Ezekiel Jackson asked and was granted his released. Heartbreaking, I know... Actually I am a tad disappointed because I think he could've gone a lot further if he wasn't do damn injury prone and maybe started a few years earlier.

I don't understand why betting on wrestling matches is allowed. What's stopping these "insiders" or even Vince himself from betting their life savings on the Taker/Brock match?

I really like that opening segment, but I'm kind of concerned how it will stand up to future rewatches. It's easy enough to fast forward, so it's not really a big deal, but it felt like one of those things thats only big the first time you see it and then every corresponding time it wears out its welcome. The best part about it was that we got most of the side stuff out of the way right from the start. Normally that stuff gets spread out over an entire show and kills the pacing. The quick backstage bits they had last night were well placed and just gave a little breather between matches rather than suck the air out of the room like they've been guilty of in the past.
I would be totally surprised if anyone other than Vince, Steph, Triple H, Brock, and Taker knew the finish before the event started. Once you get WM rolling then the announcers, ref, cameramen etc. get in the know which is where leaks happen, I would imagine.
That must be so neat being both talent and director. One moment, you're selling a sledgehammer to the skull, limping your way backstage. The next, you're hoppin' from person to person, making sure the shots look good, people are coming out on cue, etc.
I'm pretty sure Hogan would demolecularize if he took a stunner. Maybe Rock can flop around like a tuna on deck still, but he would have probably ripped a Batista like hole in his jeans if he did.

Not exactly "leaked", but presumably everyone that knew the finish that wasn't like, Taker, Vince, Heyman, Brock themselves, rushed to the betting sites at the last minute. They would have made a fine extra profit.
Austin often does stunners when he makes appearances. He's not like Hogan, ready to die from a bump, he's in solid shape. In fact his knees are mostly fixed now, he had major surgery on them in 2012 that he'd need since probably the late 90s.

Actually he wasn't released, his contract expired, and they obviously didn't renew.
