halo community thread #343 confirmed

and again, burger king wins because they at least offer a veggie burger

so does mcdonalds, but not all locations. i can't remember which one i liked better, but they're still both subpar and I can't have the fries at either. so fail. as far as veggie burgers go.

no veggie options from mcdonalds in my area :(

and, for the record, you agree with me all the time but you haven't been able to publicly admit it

not their fault you live in meat metropolis. they offer them in NYC at least. i've found BK veggie burgers at locations off of highways though. that was pretty impressive.

Are we seriously talking about what foods are good? :lol Halo threads > all other threads.

And Pizza Hut > Papa John's.

In fact, I just ordered from there. Two mediums, breadsticks, Mt. Dew.
Pizza Hut's pizza is better, but Papa John's is good too, and they have much better crust.

Papa John's new Garlic Parmesan breadsticks are actually better than PH's bsticks. They're so good, and that butter is awesome. I could drink that stuff. It's amazing. SO GOOD.

MC can kicks shepards ass anyday

I would not doubt it shepard is to busy trying to score with hot alien chicks to train in combat. MC is a bad ass but shepard is a player.

hes got a strong argument. Gears of War = Halo spot warmer
I have to say, looking at this image even before it has been desaturated still looks very comparable, though it would be nice if they were even higher res:

I think many just exaggerate Halo's "shitty" graphics because they expected so much from it. I don't think the difference is nearly as much as some people seem to think, especially after viewing these shots, but I definitely think he's right in that making it more gritty probably would have made it look better for many people (not that they should have done this).

Good read. He makes good points. In the end, though, they're two separate games. Everyone knows this by now, I hope. It's like the mountains vs. sky debate. You can argue all day and night about which is prettier; they're just two separate kinds of beautiful.

After a two day hiatus, I am now officially back. Did you guys miss me? :D

Oh, and Cottage Inn Pizza in Ann Arbor > ANYTHING, EVER, EVAR.

I liked it before the stealth edit. It was a c-c-c-combo breaker. :lol

Load up Halo 3, kill some Grunts and Brutes and then stand around near the waterfall in Sierra 117 for a nice chat. Lovely view, full voicechat throughout.

Party chat confirmed, so, about those dedicated servers.

I think Halo's problem in going HD is that most of the characters look like animated action figures. Its maybe not so much the colors that are the problem as much as how all the armor and weaponry looks like it's molded out of Mattel plastic.

Well, personally I prefer the look of Halo to Gears (and UT for that matter! *shock/awe*). In a Halo deathmatch, everything is very crisp and clean, and there's no confusion in picking someone out of the scenery. In Gears and the UT3, a lot of the character models appear to blend into the environment too much, and the gameplay suffers from it.

Agreed 100%. And I've almost team-killed so many times in Gears because it's so easy to confuse a Locust with a Cog.

Ghaleon has mentioned the crispness and clarity angle before, and I think Bungie is correct to go in that direction. But I do think the dull plastic look (as opposed to the shiny armor in the reveal) makes it easier for people to dismiss the graphical fidelity in H3.

Ultimately, once we see the campaign game in motion, I think a lot of minds will change -- on both sides of the graphical fence.

In before complaints about the MC's height in relation to Shepard's.
Obviously MC and the Big Daddy had to dig holes before the shot. Shepard is pretty vain, and he wouldn't let them go through with it otherwise.

Depth of field effect seems to be stronger/better in the Gears pic?

Halo doesn't go for depth of field as it draws geometry over 10 miles down the path of which you are on. Draw distance is huge here.

Ah, my GOTY 2006, right above my without-a-doubt GOTY 2007... love it!

is this screen of H3 touched up? i remember seeing the bigger version and the explosion on the ship looks like it was drawn in.

Sorry if somebody has said before, but I saw something on kotaku about the halo 3 Burger King ads...

Burger King will offer exclusive content codes, Pontiac will be hosting events, Comcast is offering exclusive video content, and 7-Eleven will have three limited-edition Halo 3 Slurpee cups.

Yeah, I didn't want the burger king stuff until I read that :D

Fahey knows something we don't? Editor mistake?

So, don't want to start a new thread for this, but is there something about "The Siege of Madrigal" that Marty likes so much? I knew it was in Halo 1 on the AOTCR level, but while I was looking for a piano version on youtube, I found that you can also hear it on Ivory Tower.

It's a beyond awesome piece of music, instead of hiding it everywhere, he should just remix it into Halo 3. :D Anyone who may not have heard of this piece, check here...
