WWE 2K17 |OT| It's the same game, yes it is!

I'm honestly loving this game. I just wish there was an easier way to balance the game in My Career like you can in the regular modes. AI counters too damn much on normal, that's not how real wrestling works...And it's a squash fest if you put it on easy. You can adjust these things in the exhibition and universe, but I'm not sure it affects My Career.

Also, the promo engine just seems fucking random. That thing needs serious work. Or at least categories to choose from so you aren't fucking up your promo from choosing something that looks like it flows with what you said before. I literally had a string of related statements only for my bar to switch between blue and red and never bump up any. It's super clear form the statement previews what 3 you shouldn't choose, but then you pick the one that looks 100% right and you get negative points for it.

Lastly, the VC system is super shady. I get it guys, you want me to buy the accelerator so I can start my universe mode right away, but fuuuuuck that. Let me earn more money quicker... assholes.

I will say the submission mini game is better. The bar is actually snappier to your movement so it feels ok. I haven't tried the alternative one yet though. I hated it last year. I dreaded every time I got into a submission and this year I can feel actually getting used to it. How's the alternative one?

Go for the.big reversals, it stops your opponent countering for a while. No fix to the promo engine I'm afraid, its just awful and half-baked.

Of course I say the thing about the promo engine just as I cut an almost perfect promo worth 10.5k VC on Sami Zayn.

So big counters are the ones with the green circle right? I'll give it a shot.

Also the inability to pick yourself up unless you counter the ai is super lame. These games definitely need some tweaks. I honestly think they had it perfect with SVR 2006.

Perfect in every way. The circle mini game sucks ass, the new one is more like the older games but with predetermined buttons. I honestly don't know why it isn't the default option.

How? My experience has been that it's effectively random even with 100 mic skill.

Knowing the town flavor from the start doesn't really help when the shorthand lines are so generic. And even selecting more obvious lines with that in mind will still give me occasional "poor" choices.

It's a bit maddening.

It has to make sense AND the crowd has to be into it. Its random chance.

Exactly.. it's random as shit. I try to pick the ones that seem to go together and it works 50/50

Awesome. I'll try it out tonight.

Lay your opponent against the table and press X/A. I think that's what it was in 2K16. Haven't had the chance to do the same in 2K17 yet.

Yeah pressing X on an opponent that's leaning, just makes it do one of the new table moves. I'll have to try the right stick or O, but thanks to the other dude that said he saw it on stream

Seriously, why the fuck can't we just get a season mode like SYM/HCTP? Branching storylines and being able to edit the roster for your season? Those season modes were so much fun

Would be cool to add in debuting wrestlers and CAWs to it. 2K16's career mode was lame and boring. I must have feuded with Baron Corbin15x.

Started Universe since I downloaded enough NXT guys now and Raw is opening with a Tamina promo... Lord have mercy.

EDIT: LMAO, crowd were booing the intro and opening pyro to Raw

Promos do add a bit to Universe, like I had a line as Charlotte before Sasha interrupted and we got into a fight.

Unfortunatley, that went to shit when the commentary started talking about it being a no contest and a reg teleported in to hold me back. Jesus.

Yeah, it's terrible and every single year from him on these games.

It's not so easy to include Gangrel in these things

I'm aware of the White Wolf issue (although they were bought out by someone a few years back). The name issue shouldn't be that different than the agreement they have with Marvel on Hulk, but I think whoever the Vampire Masquerade copyright holder is wants more than its probably worth. Too bad I guess.

First WWE game I bought since Here Comes The Pain. Plays MyCareer. Can't use Tyler Breeze to make him WWE Champion. :(

I wish you were able to use real superstars for MyCareer.

Anyone know when the Nakamura DLC comes out or is it already out and I don't know it? I don't see him anywhere.

Just make him WWE Champ in Universe.

Since it's Yukes, I was just hoping that they did the same thing where you can just playing with an existing Superstar. I wanted to do a Career Mode as Breeze, KENTA, and Samoa Joe. Oh well.

They've not announced the DLC timetable. It's currently only available to NXT edition owners.

What does Visual Concepts do with these games? They make NBA2K and those games are actually good.

Well, they let the WWE team use the scanners. What they do with them after is up to them I guess.

PSN store will let you buy the DLC for the PS3 version, but not for the PS4 version.

Yeah, last gen can buy them because they didn't have an NXT edition.

Not mine:

So what are the differences between the PS4 version and the PS3 one? Besides graphics of course. Same game modes? Same roster?

Same roster, no career and I don't believe they've updated the gameplay with the new features. Its the same as 2k14 essentially.

This game is HILARIOUS to watch from the sidelines. Absolute glitchy gold.

But I'm still so frustrated that it seems like we'll never get another great wrestling game :(
