Xbox has a bright future ahead

It’s kind of insane the output they’ve had recently. We literally saw Hellblade 2, Stalker 2, Flight Sim 2024, and Indiana Jones come out in the same year last year.

Now in 2025, barring any delays, we’re getting Ninja Gaiden 4, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Fable, South of Midnight, DOOM The Dark Ages, Avowed, Expedition 33, and apparently the Outer Worlds 2… All in same year.

Like… What?

It's funny how Xbox' bright future is only possible by releasing their games on Playstation.
More people can play their games this way, and they rake in make even more profit as a result! Business is great, isn’t it? Sony are clearly fans of releasing their big games of different platforms also, seeing as their PC journey has been quite successful, with no signs of slowing down.

Sony first party this year is struggling. Or "botched", as you said. Sales charts don't matter too much to me as a consumer. I just find it funny Sony first party will be sparse this year and MS has a pretty decent pipeline, and this is the time they decide to start mass porting everything.

I agree and its about time Microsoft release some good games. They only had to buy half the western developers to do it so let's not act like its some hard work and effort from their end. All that stuff would have come to PS5 anyway before Microsoft bought them.

After watching todays Developer Direct from Xbox, it´s safe to say that Xbox has a very bright future ahead. As a publisher, they will be a force to be reckoned with, as 2025 looks to be one of the best years for Microsoft in terms of output, either as a third party publisher or as first party developer. Kicking off the Direct with Ninja Gaiden 4, an awesome collaboration between Team Ninja and Platinum, it was clear from the get go that Microsoft went into this Direct with a lot of confidence in their studios and their work. Four games were showcased and everyone of them looked fantastic. They even shadow dropped a UE5 remake of Ninja Gaiden 2 on Game Pass, which is pretty bonkers to say the least.

2025 might actually be the year where the infamous "wait till next year"-meme that has surrounded Xbox for years, finally comes true. They have a banger release every month up until May, and after that intense release schedule, summer arrives with more notable games such as Fable, Perfect Dark and whatever Double Fine is working on. The year hasn´t even started and MS is going out with a bang. What more surprises do they have in store? I think we´re in for a real treat. Microsoft may be losing the hardware race, but when it comes to software they are dominating like never before. Gone are the days when tepid releases like Crackdown 3 was all MS had to show.

Xbox is firing on all cylinders, keeping the video game industry healthy and alive.
What did Dr Jekyll have to say about Xbox?

I wouldn't even say that. Their games aren't going to sell what they need to because of Gamepass. Why are we even so sure that these games they're showing will be good?

I know everyone is (strangely) high on Indiana Jones, but the results speak for themselves, and that was greenlit before Microsoft took over operations.
People have the misguided notion that MS' job somehow becomes easier as a third party and not significantly harder. Without a platform all of their games now have to stand on their own. There will be far less risk taking. There will be massive layoffs and studio closures. Remaining devs will be forced to work on only the most profitable titles. All of the other software publishers who used to be partners now become their direct competitors. The overall revenue ceiling is much lower than as a successful platform holder.

Shutting down a platform and going third party is not a good thing for business. It's not brilliant stroke of genius that MS figured out. It's a demotion, just like it was for Sega. If this weren't the case then Sony, Nintendo, and Valve should be rushing to close down their shops and just sell software on other platforms in order to "grow their business" like MS supposedly is...

Well, no duh, they bought like half the industry lol...

But have to give them credit, I did not think they would embrace the multi-platform strategy like they have and release their own hardware along side.

Man, marketing is working overtime

Playstation 5 the worst generation in gaming that needs fixing

Meanwhile Microsoft is the savior of gaming that’s blessing us to the holy land with their third party announcements of studios they had zero responsibility in growing
And you need them all apparently! lol

Trash, trash/underwhelming at best, Halo Gears and Flight Sim at this point, and Indiana Jones (overhyped) and didn't move the needle anymore than anything else did.

All the Ninja Gaiden stuff is not internally developed. Neither is Expedition 33. They've also bought out half the industry. The number of games is never the question.

The only one working overtime here is you. I didn´t even mention Playstation and you immediately resort to console war and get butthurt. Pathetic.

I have to agree. Xbox looking good means PC is looking better than ever. All I need now is a next gen handheld that can play all this for around $700. Switch 2 is gonna drop like a Neutron bomb in a few months as well.

Don't sleep on Sony though. They said this is the year they are gonna really come out swinging. I can't wait to see what they got cooking. They are doing away with the live service BS and I think they will return to form very quickly

People hate on Naughty Dog's game...but I'm in the camp that it's gonna be a banger. Call it unbiased gamer's intuition.

Overall, fantastic time to be a gamer. Couldn't be happier right now.

All these comments makes me wonder , how stupid the higher ups of Microsoft are.
It should be taught in schools how they killed the console
They actually could have gave ps5 some serious competition but they went full retarded killed their console and went 3rd party

Come on guys, it's 4 games and the only semi-exclusive one is super woke. What even is this?

As a publisher, their end to 2024 was pretty good and it's continuing into mid-2025. It was just overshadowed by them semi-abandoning their console.

That Direct was all in on Game Pass. But I really don't see how it survives longterm without an active console, where most of the ongoing subscribers are. I'm not going go resubscribe when my remaining stacked months expire on a dead platform. If they're leaving hardware, they need to get it on PS5 or Switch 2, but that won't happen.

One would expect that it is since Druckmann is heading the game...sure I'll give you that. However, a woke game doesn't make a game necessarily bad.

If you need an example look no further than Baldur's Gate 3. Body Type A and B all throughout that game. Furries, fucking gay vampires...it's got the works...and it's still Game of the Year.

I would advise to wait and see. We don't know enough. I think it'll be good.

Where will Microsoft get their 30% cut without consoles? I don’t think the MS store on PC gets nearly as many buyers. Also, what about GamePass since the majority of them are on consoles? I don’t feel GamePass will grow much (I’m sure it would shrink) without some type of Xbox hardware?
These are the questions that always seem to come to me when people say the hardware is dead and they’ll go complete third-party/publisher next gen. 🧐 🤷

I"d enjoy some real powerhouse loss leading new console and a great open handheld to ice the cake. Ecosystem is brilliant. Value is spot on.

Mirrors Google, Pixel and Android that way.

Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have literally *nothing* to do with Microsoft.

Besides Ninja Gaiden 4, which is 3rd party and multiplatform, i didn't see a single interesting game on that direct.

that's a real shame, I wasn't really interested in South of Midnight before this, but it alongside that French turn based RPG looks pretty good honestly. There all single players games too which is great, not live service crap.

Sony and nintendo are shaking in their boots. They're terrified of microsoft putting all their games on their respective platforms and making millions of dollars from it.

Xbox as a console? No. They're never getting back to the 360 golden years in terms of hardware sales.

Microsoft as a publisher? 100% has a very bright future, but is this surprising considering the tens of billions they've spent on studios and publishers?

You jest but they actually do need to be afraid of MS financially. MS has a chance of destroying their console business by severally undercutting them with GaaS/services money and slowly eating away at their business models.

It's funny you say that...

South of Midnight - Future flop
Expedition 33 - Future flop
Ninja Gaiden Black 2 - Over/Under 1.5 million in sales?
Doom DA - Over/Under 3 million in sales?

Four titles that project to sell around 5 million copies is strong?
