Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I checked those two links and it doesn't pop up. I think I may have bought it on a separate account that I made when the 360 first came out before I switched to my current account that I've been using for the past 9 years. Hopefully MS didn't wipe that account from existence due to inactivity, or I don't think I'll be able to have access to any digital downloads I made with that account.

They don't delete old accounts, just change their gamertags if they're too old. If you have the mail/pswd combination you can recover it fine.

I think there will be a "BC has to date been very successful with X amount of games released and X amount of hours played. And today we're please to announce X,Y, Z" at the conference.

It's been quiet on major titles, so my guess is they are holding them for a nice little drop all at the same time. We'll see.

A lot of the ones we pretty much know about are EA, so they'll probably strut out and talk about some during their EA Access segmentg along with a new vault game or two.

I'm still
im
patiently waiting for VF5FS to be available. I've got my Brook UFB in an old stick and everything.

That or Sony doing something similar with the PS4 and PS3's PSN games so I can play it there.

Dammit, just something. It's been too long without VF news.

BC ain't important enough for their big keynote. Goddamn, settle down Beavis

I seriously don't know why people expected something big at E3. They literally said they weren't going to hold back games for big release waves, and then everyone turns around and suddenly expects them to hold back games for big release waves for... Some reason. I know people keep saying "but E3!", but come on. "lol we literally lied and kept you from playing these, here you go now" isn't some great E3 reveal.

They could have at least mentioned that tons of new b/c titles were on the way in the future. They didn't even do that.

Yep, pretty dissapointing that there was no announcement regarding BC. It's almost as if it was swept under the rug.

When the theme of the conference is moving forward, it doesn't make any sense to go backwards.

Tekken Tag 2 is free... UGH.

So, a while ago it was on sale for $5, which I missed due to a medical emergency in my family. I ended up buying it for $20 because I wanted it BC digitally, and figured I just missed the sale and there wouldn't be another for a long time.

Boy, was I wrong.

So given that the xbox one is basically a pc and can emulate/play xbox 360 titles, is it crazy for me to think that xbox 360 titles should make their way to pc via the xbox/windows store eventually? This would be a huge boost to microsoft's library of games and a way to pull people in who never played 360 games. People like me.

Is anyone else hoping/expecting this?

Outside of supporting discs, there's no reason why it couldn't since it is just a virtual machine.

That said, it would probably be easily cracked and any old 360 game running on it.

"It's just a virtual machine"

Yeah....that's not how it works. It's not like there's some magical "virtual machine" software that can automatically make a PowerPC-based console be emulated by arbitrary x86/AMD64 CPUs and thousands of different GPUs.

I'm surprised that they made zero mention of BC during the conference. Not even a blurb right?

As far as RDR goes, since its not an Xbox exclusive I don't think it should have been expected to come during that particular keynote.

Mike Ybarra acknowledged back compat as a feature they delivered on when setting up the new Xbox platform features he introduced halfway through the keynote.

I mean, I think that makes sense? It was a requested feature, they delivered on it, and they're adding support for new games regularly.

If they announced an influx of new games at E3, it would have meant that they were holding back those games earlier - an arbitrary amount of time where people couldn't play those games just so they could make a big announcement.

If they had something to announce, they probably would have announced it.

I imagine if RDR2 was paid for by Sony to have the announcement and/or exclusive DLC or something, afterwards RDR will go BC. Just less fanfare. I could see Sony doing this to lessen the X1 preorders.

Well this sucks, they didnt even mention BC games did they!??

Super disappointing.

I'm hoping MS announces BC titles as E3 goes on but I was expecting Phil Spencer to briefly touch on BC and day "by the way Lost Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption, Ninja Gaiden 2 available now!"

I was surprised too, especially Phil wore a t-shirt with Original Xbox logo. That made me hope Original Xbox BC will be announced, but nope. :(
