Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Hell yeah!

Can anyone test the ME 1 savefile import from the cloud with mass effect 2 in BC? If I remember correctly there was somekind of issue when the game launched with importing cloud saves.

Jesus Christ MS is literally incredible when it comes to BC.

How did they convince a gigantic publisher to make ME2 and ME3 backwards compatible lol.

It supposedly doesn't take much work for EA and of course EA wants to sell more copies of the infamously outrageously priced DLC for Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Great news, shame it's not available in digital format, would love to replay ME2, my favourite in the series. Let's see if they can eventually make Blue Dragon, Lost Odissey, Deus Ex DC, ME 2&3 and so on available in the Store.

All my 360 BC dreams are coming true. When they announced the program I thought it would take 2 or 3 years to get everything that I wanted, if ever. Now I'm down to just 2 or 3 big games on my wishlist in the span of a year. Going in for a replay of the trilogy after I wrap up Skyrim!

Any word on whether or not the backwards compatibility profile for ME1 received an update? I know it ran worse than the 360 when DF first reviewed it. Hoping it got the Reach treatment and has better performance now.

EA wants to put their back catalog in the EA Access Vault.

We all know these BC XB1 games are downloadable and just check the disc for licensing, but due to some kind of issue regarding their lack of digital availability on the 360, they aren't able to be sold as digital titles. My question is, can they be given out as part of EA Access? They aren't being "sold" per se, so maybe that can skirt the issue that's holding up the digital availability of multi-disc titles.

Solving this problem is not a BC engineering team problem. It's more for Microsoft + publishers + developers to take care of that.

And lawyers! Don't forget the lawyers.

Ah, thank goodness. So, this isn't a BC problem. It's a 360 problem. Just like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, the games were never sold digitally, so they're only playable on disc on Xbox One.

Yep :)

Also kinda unfortunate for people is there doesn't seem to be a disc based "GOTY" type version that bundles all the DLC in...so you'll need to actually buy the DLC at full price (or wait for a sale) for the full experience.

Awesome, love that ME 2&3 are backwards compatible now. It's time to jump into the multiplayer again. Just two down and three more to go on my most wanted BC titles. Just give me Catherine, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Ultra Street Fighter IV and I we be elated.

Sure but nothing has changed in that way. We've always had to do that even when playing on 360.

I played and beat Mass Effect 1 & 2. Currently I don't remember the decisions I made for that game (I don't care that much). So is it worth going through the hustle to transport my save to the XBone to play ME 3 for the first time?

I always thought MS would follow EA and do a "MS Access" style program and offer a lot of their backcompat and older games to it like EA does. I'm honestly utterly shocked at how they have not done this yet.

Seems like a great way to make some extra $$ off of older games that aren't making anything anymore, as well as get new members to your ecosystem excited about your properties.

Think of a MS Access with all their old 360 games and their older XB1 games

In ME1 it was like "keep crate, deliver crate, report crate, or all of the above", and in ME2 it was like "let species die, let species live".

So that probably narrows it down a bit.

That's pretty much Games with Gold. Most of the major first party titles have already been Gold at least once.

Well ya, but I mean not everyone has been able to download them though. I mean, personally, I have most of their titles and played the ones I have wanted too, but I don't see what they lose by doing it for people new to the Xbox ecosystem, or people picking up the console to get good value on their older XB1 games

Serious Question:
What will Larry Hyrb be revealing later on in the week?

Last week in Australia he said a top-requested title would come out on Saturday, November 12th (i.e. Friday, November 11th in the States).
With Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 now out the door....what else could it be?

Why do you think it would take a lot to convince them? It increases the value of EA Access, will provide a small boost in DLC sales, and EA is generally not even interested in remasters. Upsides with no downsides.

To be fair there is only positive things for EA. They dont have to do any work. This will boost some sales again and dlc and it pushes EA Access again. All for free really haha.

I thought EA shut down the servers for Burnout Paradise though? Maybe I'm mixing it up with another game.

I'd love to replay it, was one of my top five games last generation.
It's been mentioned on Twitter a few times that it's eventually coming to backwards compatibility (same with Injustice), so it's more a matter of when than "if" at this point. Given that game's reliance on multiplayer for fun (oh so fun!), I would imagine the servers will be up.
