Warner seems more concerned with remasters and probably considers backwards compatibility as competition to them (which with any remotely worthwhile remaster is nonsense, but whatever). Disney is basically done with console development.
 
I am a bit curious, who has the final say as to if marvel vs capcom 3 becomes bc or not, disney/marvel or capcom themselves?

But seriously, it appears you must currently have the IP license to publish something to BC due to legal issues with licensing contracts. Legally, a BC XB1 version of a 360 game is publishing a new version, and must be treated as such. This is because the XB1 cannot play these games directly off the disc, so they have to be repackaged and downloaded. Most of the contracts written up for 360 games did not specify anything about the Xbox One so the publisher would either need to currently own the license to publish console games with that license, or re-obtain permission from the license holders. Most license holders are not going to give this for free, so you have a situation where it's probably not financially worthwhile for a publisher to pursue it, and as a result that title is never available via BC. In some circumstances, the IP license may be granted in an exclusive fashion such that a publisher like Capcom could not obtain it currently regardless of whether they are willing to pay or not because someone else has it.

Basically, the only way we'll see MvC3 on BC is if Capcom reacquires the Marvel license in general.
 
Oh, Guardian Heroes actually was added today? I saw the name floating around, but at first I wasn't sure if it was just people doing their Goddamn wish list thing again or not.

I never played Guardian Heroes that much, but I love that the XBLA version exists. I love that a game that goes for so much on the second hand market can be had for five dollars on the Xbox Live Arcade Marketplace.

I was looking for english dub for ME2, but thanks for the reminder. I'll definitely download that when playing ME3.

Disney has not signed off on everything. Where is my Split/Second at? MUA games were re-released by Activision, but approved by Disney as remasters. They are not remasters. They are shite ports. Give us the X360 versions as BC instead.
 
Just ran into my first backwards compatibility problem - Mass Effect 3 is not recognizing my save file. I only have the New Game option and do not have Load or Resume... whatever the top level menu navigation is. If I go into Manage Storage in the Xbox 360 emulator, I can see my Mass Effect 3 save game sitting there in the cloud. I've tried to "Clear 360 storage" but still no luck. Any thoughts?
 
I managed to download the English version of ME2 using the EA Access thing. My free subscription will run out in a few days, so I'm curious if I'll still be able to play the English version with the German Disc. I hope it stays in English.

Downloaded ME3, too. Time to replay both of these games.

I think Capcom would have to renew the license with Disney/Marvel, and since I suspect a theoretical MvC4 wouldn't be possible without someone interjecting( like Sony with SFV), I doubt they'd pony up the money to ( as in have the actual means to) renew the license of a 5 year old + game from last gen. Maybe something is worked out, but I'm not betting on it.

I had similar problems with Red Dead Redemption recently. What I did was:
Clear the reserved save space on the Xbox One. Log on to my Xbox 360 and make sure that the save files were stored locally. Then I deleted the cloud saves and then re-uploaded them. Not sure if that'll work here, but it worked for me two days ago with another game...

Thanks for the suggestions! Will try a few more things tonight. Hope I don't have to try and re-upload the game save. I no longer have an Xbox 360. I do have the Mass Effect 3 save sitting on an old Memory Unit in a closet. Of course, I'd have to then track down someone I know who has a RROD-prone Fat 360 to use it.


Edit - Looks like I'll need to do a delete and reupload. Off to find an original Fat360 with a Memory Unit slot. Hope my MU is still good and the game save is still there/working.
 
The last time Mike gave a countdown on Twitter, Black Ops was released for back compat.
Could be Black Ops II tomorrow.
 
I just really, really, really want Rockstar Presents: Table Tennis to magically pop up on BC. The number of hours I sunk into it back in the day...sold my 360 years ago and have kept my copy.

Now I have a shiny new Xbox One and all I want to do is play it again :)
 
Pretty good sales for BC X potential BC games at wal mart on Black Friday
$8 for left 4 dead 2, skate 3, gta V and possibly more
Might pick up the $15 MW 3 pack, I think they will put MW 2 x 3 for BC in 2017

I had an ongoing save on me2 but wanted to start from scratch and had a similar problem.

I ended up finishing the first again and then the save showed up on ME2.

I don't think GTA V will be a BC title since the 'remaster' has been on the Xbox One console for awhile now.
 
Skate 3 is available now according to the other thread. Just giving my console a hard reset now.

EDIT: nothing for me yet, but I always seem to not be able to get them when people say "IT'S AVAILABLE!!!!"
 
I hope Trials Evolution will show up on BC some day.

Want to complete the game, but all my Xbox 360 controllers have terrible drifting and it makes it really really hard to control the bike when it matters.
 
 
Is Skate 3 not showing for anyone else right now?

Xbox.com recognises that I own it, Xbox 360 wants me to pony up for it again, even when I click to buy it to see if I can just redownload it, it's asking to charge me.
