Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

PSO might not work as it needs a Gamertag on a memory unit to even start the game and XBL doesn't work on OG Xbox anymore. Easy to get around with a modded Xbox (there's an offline patch) not so much if there's an official implementation although I guess if we're downloading off MS's servers and just using the discs as authentication they could provide the modified XBE.

Speculating about this is fun. Let's not shut up about OG Xbox BC until it happens! Please be region free however; my Xbox collection is spread across all 3 regions.

Oh damn, you are right. And there's 0 chance for sega to remaster that game :(

Sure, but you provide the option of getting physical VF5 instead of VF5FS and you'll have oodles of people that opt and settle for that and its separate online population.

But make no mistake; I know it's selfish of me to want to herd everyone together in VF5FS. :)

What we really need is an emulated original XBL too then. Simples.

i often wonder how things would be if FS got a retail release. for crying out loud, dangeki bunko fighting climax got a retail release...

In all honesty, I don't think pretty much anyone that would be online with any form of VF5 for more than a week would pick VF5 vanilla over VF5FS. The oodles of people that would pick up retail VF5 over VF5FS are likely just not playing Virtua Fighter at all right now.

We can do a better job or herding potential new players to VF5FS via clubs and LFG than simply having VF5FS be the only available option would imo. Hell, you may even get a few people via VF5 that otherwise wouldn't have given FS a look in.

Yes, you can buy Xbox 360 content on the Xbox One. The only restriction is you must have a payment method tied to your account, even for free stuff and you can not utilize Microsoft credit. This is not the case for Xbox One content

Shows up as unavailable on PC logged in or not. Super frustrating.

I've only been able to purchase if you can buy the DLC from within the game (RDR). Anything not offered through in game menus, I had to purchase via Xbox Live on a PC (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey).

I think you might need to download an English language pack from the German store, iirc me3 worked this way. Otherwise set your console to english/uk.

Ea access has had huge months. Within a 2 month period there will be ufc, mirrors edge catalyst, mass effect 2 and 3 and star wars battlefront. I think it's ok to space the bc games out s little
 
Why are people getting excited for Original Xbox BC? Didn't Phil say a week or so ago that were NOT working on it, but he hoped eventually it could happen.

Can't imagine them announcing in the next week or two that not only are they working on it but a bunch of titles are available.

I think that won't happen because they'd have to pay money to Nvidia. That's why only 360 with HDD can run OG Xbox games.
 
After Phantom Dust and now Voodoo Vince, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say OG Xbox BC is just not gonna happen in the way people are expecting.

I am OK with this.

OG Xbox games would not look good on todays big TV´s. It´s better they remaster the best games from this era over time and spend their ressorces to bring every xbox 360 game over.
 
A question for you my friends.

I cannot install Mass Effect 2. I can install ME1 and ME3, but ME2 (disk one) just spins and spins and it eventually says the disk is dirty. The problem is the disk is perfect. I did clean it just in case and i get the same error msg.

I do have the Special Edition. Could this be the issue? :(

I also have the LE and it worked fine, I don't think that's the issue. Even if the disc was scratched, as long as it were recognized it should let you download the game on X1. I guess you don't have a 360 to try it on, right?

480p and component is a big step down from 1080p and HDMI. The Xbox image is just too soft and blurry, the colours much duller than they should be. Hell just look at Soul Calibur 2 on Xbox at 720p; the image quality dumps all over every other game in the Xbox library.

An emulator running on Xbox One could do beautiful things to OG Xbox games.

What? Who fed you that BS story? OG xbox needs a HDD because the OG Xbpx had one so the games need it. Any x360 can play BC games if it has a HDD or I guess a USB stick now.
I think they do pay a royalty to Nvidia but its probably linked to the amount of.consoles that download the BC program.

There are a decent number of 720p OG Xbox titles, and a few 1080i ones. Plus roughly half of the games support 16:9. Not saying they would look amazing. But Sony is pushing far uglier titles on their PS2 classics for PS4 line.

Actually they still look pretty good. I connected my OG Xbox to my Pioneer receiver that will upscale component sources to 4k. Looks good to me up-converting from 480p/720p/1080i to 4K. Unfortunately the original Xbox did not support 1080p only 1080i.

You can't run OG Xbox games on X360 unless you have an original HDD, not even through an USB stick/drive though. Cloned drives also need a "compatibility partition" to be able to run them, and most of the 3rd party ones online just cut that out to have more space.
