XCOM 2 |OT| Be Aggressive! Be Be Aggressive!

This game is too damn good.

I love the character creation as well. I've created all of my friends/loved ones and it's strange how much more I care about all my characters.

I missed XCOM.

This is a PC ass PC game in that I feel way more overwhelmed with the difficulty and amount of systems going on in the geoscape than I ever did with the first game. Not that it's a bad thing though. I like it.

Yeah, specialists are the real MVPs. I always have two for hacking and healing.

I was leaning towards medics being less useful this go 'round, but now that I know what Stun Lancers can do you'd best believe I'm rocking that sweet sweet Revival Protocols every mission.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
I find that some maps absolutely kill performance while others are fine. I just played a daylight city map with three 3 story buildings and I was getting some serious hitching and drops. The previous map was temperate and raining with tons of particles blowing everywhere and performance was fine.

No idea what factors contribute to the poor performance.

"Oh I see you reduced the Avatar progress bar! It would be a shame if it... immediately filled back up." - The aliens, every fucking time.

7 points into the avatar progress and everything is going wrong. I can't even keep my squad alive for the blacksite mission.

Should I start over again? I was an idiot at the beginning.

It was all going so well, no real losses or defeats. Then I tried that first blacksite mission and a single sectoid caused the demise of my entire squad. All that sectoid needed? A friggin' wall with a tiny window that I couldn't smash through, but had to go around. Four of my best died, and my very best captured; an entire wipe as I was spaces away from evac.

Lesson 1 of Mind Control: Assume they're already dead--don't hesitate.

And then the very next mission, a retaliation strike, I lose my only remaining veteran soldier in my roster to panic (she was shaken in one of the earliest battles and has spent all this time healing from gravely wounded).
Well OK it wasn't panic, but she attacked an enemy while standing in fire and burned to death. I should've been paying attention.
Miraculously the mission was a success, because two enemy melee attacks missed, saving the lives of two squaddies.

This game, man. What a ride.

I've been constantly on the edge of defeat for ages now, just recently got down to 2 days before they won. It's possible to manage it until the last minute :p

My mind controlled guy killed one of my fave squaddie, his mc broke the next turn when he was right next to the sectoid. Needless to say, he executed it with extreme prejudice.

The tutorial is totally bugged out for me. Its taking minutes for each part of the next tutorial to trigger. Like I move my guy to the yellow arrow marker... then nothing happens and I cant click anything for like 2 minutes. Then it will snap to the next part. I can back out and go through the menu just fine, but the in game part of the tutorial keeps getting continuously stuck. Now its been on alien activity message for like 5 min.

How the heck do you get a VIP out of an advent vehicle?

I literally have three people standing around it, one at the side door, one at the back door, and one on top and none them have an option to open anything or get anyone out...

Hack the door and you can open it from there. Any class will do.

Confused me at first, too.

You probably have to hack the door.

Thanks, finally saw that it only works on the back door.

I am a bit confused, is there something you're supposed to do during the hacking? Cause there's like two extra rewards that you have to select from with a % chance but every hack it's not even CLOSE at all, I mean like it says my % is 3-6% and the hacking line never even gets near them.

Just didn't understand if it's simply a die roll once you click hack or if there's some mini-game you're meant to be doing with a button to keep it going or something I missed.

Proxy mines are ridiculous, like Long War b14 ridiculous. You can drop them on pods without activating them. From there, you can activate for a free 10 damage on the enemies. Or you could wait for their turn and they'll activate on their turn, which is like performing the Beaglerush maneuver except getting an extra 10 damage added on top.

Do Vipers always dodge sniper shots or something? Or have I got some kind of malus? I've save loaded several times to test and even if I reposition the sniper and fire from somewhere else (concealed) it always grazes.

Save loading doesn't reset the random seed, so if you load - immediately fire it's always going to be the same result.

I'm well aware, I described how I repositioned and tried on different turns to test whether or not that was what was happening. The enemies were not moving on their turn, as though they'd reached the end of some patrol routine and didn't want to come back my way. Always grazed though.

Reloaded to save a Ranger.

I'm unsure how a Muton can crit a soldier from across the map, when the soldier is 2 stories up and behind cover. The actual crit % on that should be 0%, given how crit chance is applied to soldiers.

I wish they'd expose the enemy hit statistics, especially weapon range.

I don't think it really matters whether you reposition or not iirc, at least if the shot percentage is still in roughly the same area. It might change it if another action that uses up the 'random' seed buffer happens first (another firing event etc), but if it's your first fire event from load, it'll be using the same 'random' number every time.

I like to imagine that the thread title is a Faith No More reference.

Also, can't wait to play this game on my new PC
at the end of the month since I'm out of money

Seriously MC can get fucked. It's so incredibly powerful, ugh, especially when you're at grassroots level. Not only do you essentially lose a unit for 2 turns but your mc'd dude denies you flanking positions, shuts down your own overwatches and when you get him back he's probably out of ammo, too!

fucking sectoids

Wow... I didn't realize that when you gain access to new weapon the weapon upgrades were tied to the solider, and not the weapon itself. Well on a weapon class basis at least.

This avatar project is bullshit, too many missions popping every 3 days or so you can't collect stuff in the map, on top of UFO chasing ya, skull jack a fucker in there, manage to save all my dudes, mnew black site pops, I mean I literally have to chose 1/3 dark events and don't have time/resources to connect to other regions. They're 2 points from winning... Guess I'll have to restart my game.
Really wish the pace was a little bit less frenetic.

The don't win when the bar fills, a countdown timer starts and you have 20 days to take some progress off. It's risky but you can hold them off.

man it feels like every day i'm getting overwhelmed with some new surprise. i ran into a mutie and i thought that was my new gift for the day but nope, surprise,
not a civilian, actually a giant blob monster that gets to move and attack the same turn it spawns and it's got like 8hp, jesus christ

i miss being good at xcom (i.e. knowing what to exploit)

Yeah Sectoids are rough this go around. I'm still early in the game but they are always high value targets for me. I don't care if I'm surrounded by 4 mechs and 10 advent soldiers. The sectoid dies first, lol.

I would love to deal with them but every time I wanna get to the task at hand some bullshit mission pops and would I to ignore I get a warning saying it is time sensitive and such. Should I skip those to focus on Getting resources and unlocking new regions to tackle blacksites?

I was about to get sweet armor too...

Someone asked me to upload my Life is Strange characters (Chloe, Max & Victoria) so link below: -

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/58657528/Life is Strange.bin

They're just rookie builds and no bios (I'm not that creative late at night). However I found if you swap out the default kevlar for the resistance kevlar you can get Chloe looking suitably 'Grr'

Haven't made the rest of the cast yet in large part because I'd rather play the game. Though I might update later on.

Enjoy/destroy whatever.

Also figure public DB links are OK? but if not mods my bad.

Well I mean if you're going to lose the war you can probably get away with skipping some random missions :p

Need some suggestions for some bruvs to throw in my pool. Already have these:

Though I'd be more than happy to throw in other people's pools if they've got them uploaded.

That's what workshop needs. Charpool sharing.

that puzzling face
Okay, folks who were gonna mod out timers etc etc etc etc, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm legit curious.

How do you feel about the whole Avatar Project Geoscape metagame?

This game is so good! I started over because I was put in a whole my first play through and it's going a lot better as I understand it a bit better.

Discussion a few pages ago with someone bitching about losing EU being canon where someone said that loss being canon allowed for a unique setting.

Unique for XCOM, sure, that's definitely new ground for the IP, but occupied Earth's been done before.
I think this referred to the player-losing-part being canon and not the setting, might be wrong though. Even then it's probably not unprecedented, but a cool take on a series like this.

Wtf it's me or does the game is incredibly buggy? I disabled action cam and even so I have to wait like 10 seconds for an action to be done. Finished the first mission and it got stuck on an animation after trying to promote a soldier.
