Yeah, specialists are the real MVPs. I always have two for hacking and healing.
Is there any point in carrying dead soldiers to evac zone?
7 points into the avatar progress and everything is going wrong. I can't even keep my squad alive for the blacksite mission.
Should I start over again? I was an idiot at the beginning.
It was all going so well, no real losses or defeats. Then I tried that first blacksite mission and a single sectoid caused the demise of my entire squad. All that sectoid needed? A friggin' wall with a tiny window that I couldn't smash through, but had to go around. Four of my best died, and my very best captured; an entire wipe as I was spaces away from evac.
Lesson 1 of Mind Control: Assume they're already dead--don't hesitate.
And then the very next mission, a retaliation strike, I lose my only remaining veteran soldier in my roster to panic (she was shaken in one of the earliest battles and has spent all this time healing from gravely wounded).Miraculously the mission was a success, because two enemy melee attacks missed, saving the lives of two squaddies.Well OK it wasn't panic, but she attacked an enemy while standing in fire and burned to death. I should've been paying attention.
This game, man. What a ride.
How the heck do you get a VIP out of an advent vehicle?
I literally have three people standing around it, one at the side door, one at the back door, and one on top and none them have an option to open anything or get anyone out...
You probably have to hack the door. How the heck do you get a VIP out of an advent vehicle?
I literally have three people standing around it, one at the side door, one at the back door, and one on top and none them have an option to open anything or get anyone out...
The first time Ian Advent Officer, I literally yelled, "OH SHIT" out loud. Wasn't expecting thatSkulljacked
Do Vipers always dodge sniper shots or something? Or have I got some kind of malus? I've save loaded several times to test and even if I reposition the sniper and fire from somewhere else (concealed) it always grazes.
Save loading doesn't reset the random seed, so if you load - immediately fire it's always going to be the same result.
I'm well aware, I described how I repositioned and tried on different turns to test whether or not that was what was happening. The enemies were not moving on their turn, as though they'd reached the end of some patrol routine and didn't want to come back my way. Always grazed though.
"Oh I see you reduced the Avatar progress bar! It would be a shame if it... immediately filled back up." - The aliens, every fucking time.
This avatar project is bullshit, too many missions popping every 3 days or so you can't collect stuff in the map, on top of UFO chasing ya, skull jack a fucker in there, manage to save all my dudes, mnew black site pops, I mean I literally have to chose 1/3 dark events and don't have time/resources to connect to other regions. They're 2 points from winning... Guess I'll have to restart my game.
Really wish the pace was a little bit less frenetic.
Seriously MC can get fucked. It's so incredibly powerful, ugh, especially when you're at grassroots level. Not only do you essentially lose a unit for 2 turns but your mc'd dude denies you flanking positions, shuts down your own overwatches and when you get him back he's probably out of ammo, too!
fucking sectoids
The don't win when the bar fills, a countdown timer starts and you have 20 days to take some progress off. It's risky but you can hold them off.
I would love to deal with them but every time I wanna get to the task at hand some bullshit mission pops and would I to ignore I get a warning saying it is time sensitive and such. Should I skip those to focus on Getting resources and unlocking new regions to tackle blacksites?
I was about to get sweet armor too...
I think this referred to the player-losing-part being canon and not the setting, might be wrong though. Even then it's probably not unprecedented, but a cool take on a series like this.Discussion a few pages ago with someone bitching about losing EU being canon where someone said that loss being canon allowed for a unique setting.
Unique for XCOM, sure, that's definitely new ground for the IP, but occupied Earth's been done before.
I like to imagine that the thread title is a Faith No More reference.
Also, can't wait to play this game on my new PCat the end of the month since I'm out of money
ONE MORE SCANoh hey look it's almost 4AM. Thanks Firaxis.
