Xenoblade X import videos/streams thread

I'm starting to fear spoilers so I'll be bowing out now.
Hopefully we'll get a date by E3.
It's kind of crazy that the games been out for this long and we've yet to get any real "holy shit" spoilers. The closest thing is a new location that's never been mentioned before in the directs, but that's it. Then again, the game is huge so I shouldn't be all that surprised.

The game sure looks weird when you dress your all-female party in normal-looking skirts and high heels and have them fight futuristic space soldiers.

Not too bad really. The one in pink just need to replace the high heels with boots and we got a Sayla Mass imitation.

Welp, definitely sticked with narumi's stream for too long. Oh well. :p

Game is looking amazing, hopefully I can handle not spoiling myself too much till it releases here.
UH UH NOPE

Yeah. There doesn't seem to be an early SHTF moment like
Fiora's death
in Xenoblade. The streamer was level 30+ when I stopped watching/listening and I didn't feel like I saw anything I didn't want to. But I'm not going to push it anymore...lol

There you go. Looks like I abandoned ship just in time.

Can the music be disabled in this game?

Game looks awesome but everything with vocals is super cheesy.

I feel like this about most gaming tracks with vocals. And the good tracks with vocals tend to get exhausted on me really quickly compared to just normal orchestrated tracks.

Seeing how chatty the party is though, hopefully I'll be able to 'tune it out'.

I'm loving the vocal tracks in their contexts in the game. I've become a fan of the NLA theme...
I wouldn't have cared for it by itself. But it just sounds right as the backdrop for the city.

Man, I gotta say, I have been following this game, including the streams, and I really need it in my veins immediately. I havn't invested in a JRPG since Tales of Symphonia, and I can't wait to dig into XCX.

It feels like the first truly open-world JRPG. You can do so much at any one time, and I won't ever feel stuck or put in a place where if I missed some story-element I won't know how to continue. JRPGs used to stress me out because I felt like if I didn't remember where I was in the story I would have to start trouble-shooting and running around aimless and frustrated. I also hate grinding, and having this feeling that I need to fight every enemy in order to keep up with my level and not to get too far ahead while being underpowered.

It feels like every other 'open-world' JRPG in some sense has been an MMO. I can't think of any game like XCX?

Really excited for this game. Can't wait to just run around and explore and just do whatever the fuck I want while still progressing. The overwhelming amount of things to do and the openness of the landscape really make it feel like a breathing world. A chunk into the game and BOOM - you get a Skell (mech) and get to experience the environment in a whole new way. What a beautiful sense of progression. It will probably feel like a whole new game at that point.

So glad I can play a big, colourful fantasy JRPG without being held back by some constricting archaic design choices.

Seriously can't wait for this. Looks like the GOAT JRPG.

I'm in between, some vocals in tracks sound fine (NLA is def there), but some it's more distracting than a vital and good addition to the song.

*shrug* I don't really care, nor do I expect every track on the OST to simple WOW me. And I think it's that way with most OSTs, right?

That said, I love Xenoblade's OST, but some songs are boring as well (Satorl [Day], Makna [Day], Valak [Day], Ether Mines, Sword Valley, and a few other locations). :P
Taking off my rose-tinted glasses for the songs I do love, I definitely think XBX is pretty damn boom-bastic and will be just as fine even with the composer change-ups.

I asked a streamer if he could show me the options menu. There were 4 categories for options (HUD, parameter, social and a fourth one I forgot). I know a bit of Japanese and there were no audio options, unfortunately. The parameter settings only contain options for the camera.

Yeah, I'd also like to turn the music off. It's not because of the vocals, but some pieces contain elements that just make me facepalm as a composer: poor loops (just silence at the end and then it repeats from the beginning), atonal melodies (e.g. character creation theme: no, this doesn't sound futuristic, it's just terrible), cheap copy/paste-samples (that atrocious NLA night theme) and rhythm that is all over the place (e.g. night theme of the first area: seriously, why does he put a snare on 2 and 4e and not on 2 and 4? No exotic music uses this and it just ruins the beat).

You really need to be careful accepting affinity quest, since you can only have 1 affinity or story quest at the same time. D:

If you get stuck on the affinity quest you can't progress the story. And you can't cancel affinity quest.

By "get stuck" do you mean "wait, what am I actually supposed to do" or "oh shit, I'm extremely underleveled and have to grind"?

Can someone catch me up, what is an affinity quest exactly?

I agree with the last paragraph. I really love a few XB tracks and they became metonyms for the whole OST. But there are many area tracks I don't even remember. I'm pretty sure I'll find a lot to enjoy in XBCX's music even if I don't absolutely love everything. After all, some Xenoblade tracks were forgettable.

Collectable and loot, at least it tells you what kind of enemies you need for the loot. I don't think level will be the problem.
oh I see

hey what are these lies

So I've been trying to stay away from this thread 'cause I have a hard time resisting the urge to click on spoilers but I have to know.

What song plays on the title screen? Is it THEMEX?

I can't help myself but click them, it's a cruel and sad muscle reaction, a real medical condition....

The hardest thing is no release date. I haven't clicked any streams yet, but how long will I last? How long will I endure? IF I ONLY KNEW HOW LONG TILL THE GAME CCAME OUT I COULD PREPARE FOR THIS PSYCHOLOGICALLY.

It almost makes me upset that we aren't getting the game a few months after Japan seeing as how the game was revealed to everyone at the same time. Oh well.

Here's hoping for a July-early September release date overseas.

Oh, the Makna theme? Eh. It's ok, not particularly memorable and pretty subtle for a 'wild jungle'; it's pleasant and very non-offensive or intrusive MMO sorta music. :P
Definitely far from a Top 10 favorite, but it's definitely not bad (meanwhile, I did turn down the TV when the Bionis Interior track comes on, so it's definitely not at that level).

they could have worked harder at localization that is for sure but seeing how huge and text heavy the game is it could have taken a year to localize after Japan release

I just hope we get a good translation and voice work effort

We know its coming this year so one would guess we'll get a better idea at E3.

Can you eject Lynlee into space or something and never have to hear her ever?
