Hmmm, hopefully the whole insider thing doesn't get to his head like some previous person...

He will be fine!

So is this a completely new team that's making Mass Effect 4? I had no idea. Kinda lowers my expectations quite a bit.

One of my most anticipated titles for this year's show. Either a prequel or a sequel is fine by me. If a prequel, I'd prefer first contact war, if a sequel, I'd assume they'll go all "in a system far, far away" that's separated enough in such a way to ignore the events of the main trilogy.

Yes and no. Montreal has been a support team for Edmonton since the late days of Mass Effect 2. If I'm correct, they mostly started with some basic asset support before moving on to the Arrival DLC. Since then they've been built up by EA/BW into a fully geared studio. While Edmonton helmed the story and overall direction of Mass Effect 3, Montreal played a significant role in the single player combat systems and level design I believe, and worked extensively on the multiplayer (could be wrong about that). They later produced the Omega DLC pack almost (if not) entirely internally.

I'm sure Edmonton and other studios are helping out in some capacity, but yes, Montreal today is much, much larger than it once was and is heading the Mass Effect: (cough) project.

Shinobi on Twitter already confirmed that ME:contact isn't exclusive.

But if you look at what BruceLeeRoy said on the infamous Gamespot thread you see this reply chain to his timed exclusivity comment:

Nah, he basically said, well, I know of at least a timed one. You think Bruce knows MS's entire plans, or even assumes to?

Nope, you are correct.

Constant Contact

Of course the ME: Contact rumor maybe started because of his post. People convinced ME is the big exclusive say his comment and assumed ME: Contact is the name. GAF imports the rumor and suddenly it gains another life. GAF -> Internet -> GAF

No prequel
No Cross gen
Please

I'm expecting a cross gen prequel with coop that will "not ruin the single player experience", micro transactions that you "don't really need", no RPG elements at all, a cover system that is completely automatic, return of the elevators as EA learns about the new consoles, forty six different preorder bundles and six special editions, none of which will have all the DLC and the ending will be DLC. But it'll be incomplete.

Oh and it is not exclusive, because there is an xbox one version and a mobile version, which is F2P, although still somehow costing $10 for the first week before it goes free.

... Somehow I still feel I'm being optimistic about what EA can deliver.

I've been hoping for this to be revealed at E3. Now I only hope they don't fuck up the multiplayer with increased microtransactions, or change the gameplay dynamics, by making the maps too big for example.

Went through the conversation chain. What I understood that Bruce is hinting one timed exclusive game but ME: Contact isn't the one.

The fact that it's a brand new team and studio on charge is one of the main reasons I'm actually optimistic about this game.

I don't think we need all this hand wringing about prequel, cross gen, and exclusive.

I'd be SHOCKED if any of those things happened (unless it's early 2015 then MAYBE it'll be cross gen; but not if it's early 2016).

What if this ends up being the exclusive Xbox title?

It would more than likely kill off the ip. I say this being an owner of both consoles and a PC but most people that own both consoles and a gaming rig would not buy a game on XB1 over PS4 or PC. If it were to be an exclusive we would never hear the end of the ..... It was held back by XB1,792p how would it have looked on PS4 conversations.

From a business standpoint I do not think it would be a wise move or good for the ip. I also believe Titanfall set its self up for long term failure as an ip going for a quick cash grab by being exclusive.Even if they release TF2 multiplat it will be largely associated as a XB1 game and probably never sell as many units on PS4 sort of like Metal Gear but in reverse.

But what if they announced the new ps4 / x1 ME and an HD-trilogy release of ME1-3 with all the DLC and 30FPS locked? I wouldn't need anything else at E3

"Contact" suggests that it would be a prequel, set when humans first encountered aliens, namely the Turians and went to war with them.
