Apple Special Event - 9.9.14 - "Wish we could say more"

Not really.

Tap to pay is only for small amounts. The added security of TouchID should open it up for everything.

TouchID was always planned for that, they just had to get everyone on board.

The wallet implementation is above and beyond in security. A purchase will only get approved after I get a request sent to my phone, sent through the network, and then tap again.

I don't think you'll understand it even if I have to explain it to you like 5 yr old.
Try to explain it. Why don't you think I'll understand? I don't think you can make a statement and defend it by saying, "Oh you're just too stupid to understand so I won't try."

I love the thread title now. I really wish they could say more...I expected a lot more from Apple.

Although, Applepay is nice. I like that it uses the fingerprint scanner.

Not true. It's pretty much available in most retailers in Canada. Then again, we seems to be ahead of the curve. Everytime I visit the states and insert the chip card the cashier always gets confused, even though the machine takes it!

I didn't mean availability, it's everywhere in the UK as well. Small amounts as in you can only pay for low value items with tap to pay/contactless cards.

I'm assuming Apple's plan is to open it up to any value of item because of the added security.

I still don't have a convincing reason to get a smartwatch.

I was hoping for.something different, but
but the apple watch seems just like all the other smart watches.

It's right on Apple's website right now. I'm watching it.
I only see a giant black screen here, where I'm assuming the stream was run. Underneath it are the story updates. Am I missing something? I have quicktime installed and I tried it from 3 different browsers and zero plugins.

QuickTime doesn't matter I don't think as it's H.264 these days. Weird though. I actually switched to my iPad and it's working there too. It should just work. I guess you can wait for it to be uploaded to the Apple Keynotes podcast or YouTube itself. (Though that second one usually takes a few days)

You're as dumb as these people buying these overpriced with mediocre specs IPhones. Fine I'll explain it to you like your 5 so you can sleep soundly tonight. Both car and motorcycle serves the purpose...the iPhone and watch serves the same purpose. Hope you sleep better tonight.

This is the first iPhone revision I actively don't want. I didn't imagine that was ever going to happen.

I thought Pay seemed fantastic, I'm in the UK so who knows when I could even get it, but I like it, I never use cash, and I'd love to drop cards too.

I want the watch for sure.

lolol

Yeah it's like towing a motorcycle on the back of your car just in case you want to ride it. It's stupid really.

Exactly!

I can see it's usefulness as a sports/fitness accessory but beyond that I'm not feeling it.

Plus, your typical sports/fitness accessory doesn't cost $350!

Watches are pretty much the dumbest thing in tech today and they were just born out of the need to find an extra revenue source for phone manufacturers.

I don't want to discount the iWatch yet, but it really does seem like that at this point.

You can send your heartbeat to people. I'm sure my g/f will love it when I send her my 200 beats per minute pulse, followed by a flat line.

The first time I buy a bacon and cheese wrap and vanilla slice in Greggs with my phone I'll know I'm living in the future.

Since Apple has a fee that it takes from banks whenever we use Apple Pay, I wonder if banks, companies even more avarice than Apple, will increase fees on the public.
