the point was that it would make PvP a much faster and more reliable method for getting raid quality gear than raiding. You don't see the problem in that?

The problem with this game is that Bungie made the classic rookie mistake of not keeping PvE and PvP gear separate. Bonuses on PvE gear should only apply in PvE, bonuses on PvP gear should only apply in PvP. If this were the case nobody would care who was gearing up faster than who else or whatever, because your gear would only work in the setting that you prefer to play in.

The moment Bungie decided that gear sets were shared between PvE and PvP, and that you could randomly get stuff from both that worked in both, it was all over. PvP could never be balanced in this game ever as long as something you get from PvE like Vex Mythoclast was also the best PvP gun in the game for instance.

In general Bungie is laboring under the astonishing delusion that everyone who plays their games plays both PvE and PvP in equal measure, which is why they think having PvP portions of Exotic weapon bounties is a smart idea. It's not, 40% of people who buy Call of Duty never take their game online. If Bungie is telling 40% of their player base to fuck off then maybe we all should and then Bungie will see what it's like to have a Halo 4 player base.

why do you need raid quality gear if you don't raid

and don't say that joke of a pvp mode iron banner

So if I buy a mark for another faction, do I get reputation for that faction plus vanguard/crucible or just the former?

If the IB gear costs crucible marks the most you'd able to get this go around of Iron Banner is 3 piece and you'd have to be sitting on 100+ already.

A huge amount of the issues with this game (that I love!) boil down to the fact Bungie appears to have deliberately ignored the lessons learnt from the last 15 years of MMO and online gaming. Some of this stuff is so basic you wonder if it was deliberate or just arrogance.

Would be absolute dumb if it would also lock at 29

Why? If it was raid quality gear it would make raiding worthless because IB would give you same quality gear with less effort.

If it was to give raid quality gear then raid itself would need to be a lot more generous with gear drops.

After hours of jumping around, my findings are as such:

Area below the first chest in raid, the small leafy passage way, connects to the larger area accessed from over the top of the cliffs in the templar area, in both the light rocky zone and the vec mechinery sections, from top to bottom there are no useful passageways or hidden areas, there is however a small passageway close to the enterance of the vex machinery area (entering from under the first chest side), that leads to a little window overlooking part of the cave you ascend when heading towards the templar, despite being a fenced window a few knee slides can push you through it, though to no real benefit.

There are a number of golden gated pieces around the areas but none of them would seemingly bring you anywhere useful.

It seems, to me at least, that at some point or another, "The Trial of Kabr" was meant to be a puzzle based area (no spawn holes around the area), if you glitch through the main door in non-raid mode, the entrance to the cave system that takes you down to the templar is closed off, preventing you from going deeper than the first chest, so I feel as though their plan was to close off this area in Hard mode, and have people navigate through the jumpy-puzzle hot mess that is "The Trial of Kabr", which would then bring them out in the templar area to continue onwards.

It does seem strange that as the raid currently stands, the trial of kabr section serves as nothing but a chest spawn and an extremely short passageway to the templar. Another potential outcome, could have been that the area that this place is in, contained a small boss, or further vanishing steps which would eventually give you access to the later jumping area.

All in all the area that connects the templar boss arena and the trial of kabr load zone has nothing of notable value at current, it may be used at a later date, it may remain unused and abandoned, was still fun exploring it.

Wait... Can you glitch into the VoG and just walk up to the first chest for weekly free loot or does it only spawn during the raid?

If Bungie didn't change it, gear costs X glimmer + 10 marks.

Hmm

The crappy thing is that the people who could use some extra legendaries aren't the ones who'll excel at Iron Banner. An annoying thing is you can't buy off-class legendaries from vendors either to give your alts a head start.

I'd like to be surprised but this is starting to sound like a clusterfuck.

Let's not act like the raid is particularly challenging. The normal raid is pretty darn simple and from that you can get everything you need to hit level 30. The only thing holding you back is the one run per week thing.

Getting gear from raid is all about how lucky you get that time, 1-2 times / week.

IB would be just fast rep grind after which you just would purchase raid quality gear.

IB would be easier and faster method.

Another Queen gear won (Queen's Guard Hood).
AND my first Legendary weapon (The Supremacy; sniper)!

I was extremely lucky to run two of those missions solo.

Hey, I finally had some Crucible marks to spend.

I was going to buy a weapon.

I was looking at the Fusion Rifle, Wizard 77.

It looks cool, but that recharge time is slow.

Does anyone have this? How is it exactly? Are there any better weapons you can buy with Crucible Marks. I would get the Auto Rifle, but I already have Shadow Price. I also have a Legendary shotgun and sniper rifle. Along with an Exotic Pulse Rifle and Shotgun.

Right, but if the argument is which method is more challenging neither is particularly more challenging than the other, one is just faster because it doesn't rely on luck. Seems like a clear fix in my opinion. Either be more generous with raid gear drops or create a second set of IB gear that cannot be purchased but only randomly dropped if you win a match.

Not sure where I stand with Iron Banner. It could be pretty balanced when everyone uses their normal weapons and all the defense stuff and attributes actually mean something. Then again it could mean getting brutalized over and over by the same few OP weapons.

I will give it a shot but I am expecting a world of pain.

here is my review (doing the thorn 500 void bounty step)

Holy shit that sounds awful. 25 strikes and a nightfall strike?

Another night of doing Tiger Strikes without getting anything useful. I am really sick of every strike. Did get an ascendant shard while farming the moon for helium though and was able to upgrade my sunbreakers some more.

To be fair the first step of the bounty requires either the Weekly Heroic or Nightfall Strike, either way having to do 25 Strikes afterwards feels excessive.

Well, I finished Vault of Glass for the second time ever tonight, got IDENTICAL rolls on all chests, ascendant materials are still welcome at least. And I managed to cap Vanguard this week which I somehow haven't done yet, too bad I'm just going to burn the marks on purples I'll dismantle for energy.

I'm level 29 and still don't have a legendary primary weapon. I have three exotic primaries and the rest are rares. Sucks because I can't use my other exotics without severely gimping my primary. Probably should save up marks for a weapon but instead I dismantle for shards prepping for when I finally get raid gear.

Anyone have any good resources to figure out how Bungie is doing the level balancing for PvP? I went a long time without managing to kill anyone else in the matches. I was level 14 and playing with a lot of level 27s.

In particular, I see guys that seem to have shields, and of course they have their high level class powers, right? How is Bungie trying to make that balance out?

In the end, I finally figured out that the auto rifles are close to useless in Crucible. I switched to a shotgun and put my Void Walker skill bonuses all on armor. Don't know what I'd have done without being able to do that, e.g., if my Warlock was at a lower level.

I've never seen one exotic bounty and I bet I have more hours than that in... But honestly for the time spent pvp is kinda worth it, I'm rank 2.5 now and just bought all my legendary armour

I didn't get any exotic bounties until 150 hours invested, then I got 3 in 2 weeks.

It can be any difficulty. You can just do the Nexus strike really fast takes like 5 minutes

It's still a poorly designed bounty, I have both Pocket Infinity and Super Good Advice already and those were bounties weren't nearly as boring as this one. Pocket Infinity has you grind out 200 Nightfall kills with Fusion Rifles and Super Good Advice requires 500 kills with Machine Guns for the final step, both of which come naturally since you want to do the Nightfall anyway and the other can be gotten anywhere.

25 Strikes? You have to actively sit down and force yourself to do those, especially if you're at the point where you don't actually need the gear from it anymore. I probably wouldn't mind as much if my character wasn't already Level 29.

Honestly, the entire PVP system is fundamentally flawed. It should be more like GW2's PVP where you have max level, all abilities unlocked, items with all similar stats, and a separate buildout from the normal PVE stuff.

Right now, from the little played, it seems to be a contest of who has the better exotics then skill. And thats not even counting the bastards with lag switches out there.

I've played as a level 5-7 character and taken 1st place in Crucible many times. They have the advantage of sub class unlocks and that's it.

Auto rifles are also amazing, I get majority of my kills with them.

So, I'm a level 24 Warlock. After about 30 hours:

- I've never seen a legendary engram.
- I've never used a legendary weapon or even seen one outside of the vendors.
- I had one rare engram that decrypted to a legendary chest, which turned out to be for bloody Hunter class. Angry.
- I routinely decrypt rare engrams into gear that is far worse than what I'm wearing. I'll be wearing a helmet with +15 light, decrypt something new and fancy into a +2 light.
- Most strikes result in me being showered with stupid green engrams.
- If I play crucible I routinely get awarded nothing, whilst others around me are showered with gifts.

I saw some exotic gear once but that tart Xur wanted 23 strange coins and I only have 8.

I feel like I'm getting a bum deal here. I love Destiny, but I'm not sure the feelings are reciprocated. But every night, I log back in with hope in my shrivelled little heart, maybe this time it will be different, maybe this time, maybe maybe. All my friends over comms are going "Hey look! Another purple engram, yesssss!" whilst I'm picking over yet another uncommon set of shitty boots, "Wooooh!" go my friends, drilling Cabalt dead in seconds "this legendary Auto is amazing!" whilst I pick massive health bars slowly away with my trusty pulse rifle.

Damn you Destiny. Show me some fucking love.

So all the cool gear the high level characters have doesn't help them? If you have gear better than is "expected" from your level, does that carry over, or is all equipment just completely nerfed?

Auto rifles are also amazing, I get majority of my kills with them.

ah, I see the problem now. I just suck. ;-)
