There are a lot of different comics and comic characters. I don't know why this can't go on for a while.

I just feel like at the pace these two brands are going at, I don't see it lasting.

I'll watch all of them regardless, but you have Phase 3 which looks packed. DC finally starting their connected universe. Fox and Sony with their stuff (pls for the love of god stop)

It just seems like too much to sustain these 500 million (minimum) box office numbers.

Over the next 5 years there's probably at least one comic book movie every month, during the summer months, probably 2-3 depending on what Fox/Sony are doing.

yeah, just like people have gotten sick of sci fi movies. and horror movies!!

in all seriousness, I get the tendency toward comparing this to sequel-itis.. but really.. this is different. sequel-itis you have a property (Freddy Krueger) that you want to make money on.. so keep trying to figure out stories you can tell to do that. However making money is the important part, and the stories are not the priority.

For Marvel (and DC)... they have 80 something years of stories to draw from. They could realistically release movies for DECADES drawing from these stories and frankly not have people getting bored.

People didn't get sick of Freddy Krueger because they saw him too much. They got sick of him because to keep him coming to the screen the makers kept coming up with less and less engaging stories.

See James Bond as another example.

my worry is that they will be too afraid of killing of any of their own major heroes (like Iron Man, Thor, etc.) because it would make it harder to make use of those same characters later on in the same universe.

Pretty much this - and Medusa is basically the marketing face of the Inhumans now in the comics.

Casting Black Bolt will be a big deal, but IMO the story and marketing should basically push Medusa as the main character.
