Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

There needs to be a begginner lobby. My girlfriend is getting placed against Lv. 20s and getting frustrated because of the skill difference. I know it's the be expected, especially at launch, but the Mario Kart tournament rooms would be a welcome addition here!

Apologies as I am sure this has been addressed, but I just got home from vacation and do not have the mental capacity to read through 58 pages, so a quick simple question...

Is there no way to make the Wii U Pro Controller the default controller? Is it a matter of it can only be used as a secondary controller and not the primary one? I found the setting to pair the controllers to a player, but that does not seem to override the Game Pad being the main primary controller.

TIA

pro controller can only be used in 1v1 battle dojo

Maybe I won't regret getting the three pack over time. I'll keep it in the box for now just in case if I change my mind and want to sell it.

Say I buy the regular version at a GAME store and start playing that, do you guys think I can simply return (to the store) the delayed second copy of the regular version I'll be getting in the post tomorrow or on Monday?

I'll just pretend that the shipped copy is the one I bought in store in other words and return it to that store. I should be covered by GAME's 28 day return policy on sealed items, right?

Is there any reason to think that that won't work, perhaps because they scan the individual copy or something? Or because the shipped copy lacks the seal?

I'll need a quick answer since my gf is currently in town and can pick one up for me. Cheers Gaf!
That will work as long as the copy that you get on the post is a UK one. Who's sending it?

Uhhh.....

The Pro Controller is only used in Battle Dojo for the "TV" player to control. For everything else, be it online battles or single player Hero Mode, the Gamepad is the only usable controller.

Also, shoutouts to Toys R Us for making my amiibo search stupid-simple. Had a ton of all three (boy/girl/3-pack) right on full display at a table in front of their games section. 3 pack was so tempting for that squid, but...I just didn't want to drop that kind of money. Dammit Nintendo!

I said it before and I'll say it again. Wonderful 101 is a game about super heroes that was released at the point where super hero popularity has literally NEVER BEEN HIGHER IN THIS COUNTRY. Of course marketing would have helped. Taking a pass on doing your job as a publisher because your game is "Niche" is the same mentality that kneecapped Cartoon Network for years, which judged shows based purely on external merchandising. "We can't use this show to sell t-shirts to 10 year old boys, cancel it. Girls like it? Not our demographic, cancel it."

Nintendo put more effort into pushing Sonic Boom than they did pushing the Wonderful 101. Think about that for a minute.

"Superheroes" doesn't matter. Wonderful 101 isn't based on any comic book license and even if it were the only one that really seems to sell right now is Batman anyway.

There wasn't any return of investment for serious advertising for that game.

So even though I've had this game for 7 hours I haven't actually played it yet. My girlfriend's been playing all day and she's clearly having a damn good time.

I get the feeling that by the time she's done I'll have to take a break to charge the Wii U Pad. I really need to buy a high capacity battery.

I balled up all those bills and threw it at Bestbuy for the 3 pack.

I am starting to face players with much stronger gear
I need a nap reached level 10

when I wake up I'll try to grind out Single Player for gear

what does the stars mean? too lazy to look it up

Japan loves this fucking game man.

You really need to play man. So much strategy in this game.

serious love

How is your game pad even lasting seven hours

Oh come the fuck on. An entire team of level 7-8 versus an entire team of 16-18? fuck this random matchmaking

Just git gud :p

But seriously, levels really do not indicate the skill level of the player. My first ever match was against a team of level 20+ Japanese players and I'm level 1 with my team members below level 10, but we dominated the match 45%-33% with me leading the score. Not saying that I'm good but situations like those are still pretty manageable if you and your teammates focus on splatting ink at different places rather than grouping up and get kills, which a lot of my opponents tend to focus.

Maybe matchmaking isn't really a thing in turf wars since it feels like the "for fun" mode in Splatoon. Maybe we'll see a more balanced matchmaking in Ranked Battles since they're pretty strict with the leveling penalties, much like a "for glory" mode.

You need those sea snail things. You get them from splatfests or from buying them from Spyke.
I thought See snails are used to increase the slot number.

Just watched direct. Yes, Seesnails increase the number of abilities. No words about rerolling abilities. Is this even possible? ^^

Amiibo let you redo solo mode missions with a different weapons.
Redoing missong isn't pointless since you still earn gold.

Edit : it also unlock outfits for multi when you complete the solo mode once and with the amiibo.

In a world where every television show based on comic books is top five on their respective networks, what are you talking about?

I'll watch later on youtube
hope Jeff likes it :P

It's the Beast crew. So Vinny and Alex.

Jeff seems to like it though.

A bunch of laggy matches and about six in a row where one player dropped out making the matches boringly one-sided. Just bad luck I suppose. :(

I always see a bunch of post like this.

What's the problem with just playing while it's charging?

I thought it was. Haven't been able to play myself to test it out though. Maybe the option unlocks when you get higher level.

I generally charge with the cradle. I could pull the cable but my current room setup makes that relatively inconvenient, and I usually don't use the Gamepad that extensively to make it worth it. A better battery would just overall be more convenient for me.

Thanks for the link, TheMoon. That's a pretty good deal, I'll probably buy it.

Sorry to be a doofus, but how and where do I unlock the amiibo challenges?

you're right. Just did some research. It seems like with See Snails you can add an ability or reroll the secondary abilties (all of them!). Which means you have to choose wisely if you want to reroll or not ^^

Ah, I was just wondering if folk just didn't realise it was possible haha.

That's the point I'm at now. The gear loadout per day is cool and all but it puts the Japanese players have a huge advantage today, on top of more time with the game.

Late reply, but FWIW if the EANs (i.e. the bar code that they scan) are identical, you should have no problems.

After playing for three days, I feel the different weapon classes are really unbalanced.
The smaller rapid fire weapons especially, Splattershot Jr and Aerospray. They are way too fucking versatile. They cover ground like crazy and kill you incredibly fast when going face to face. Against a good player, slower weapons don't stand a chance, even more so if they can't out-range them. At best it will result in a double KO. (I'm talking about shooters here, like the Gal and the blasters, not the charge weapons)

Seems to me like Nintendo wanted a noob-friendly weapon and went a little too far. Especially with the shield combo. It's probably one of the most useful special, and it gets paired with one of the easiest weapon to charge the special gauge.

I'm lvl 19 and it's ridiculous how every level 18-20 and their mothers are using splat jr. and aerosprays, with the lone gal or charge sometimes. Absolutely no roller, blaster or squiffer.

tldr :
NINTENDO NERF SPLAT JR. PLZ

I'm glad I switched back to motion controls. No idea why I ever turned them off, but I'm doing much better now. The splat charger is actually usable with the motion controls haha.

Just take a look at last years big AAA games and you will notice that a lot of them started their (presidential) campaign like 6 months before launch just like Splatoon. You can't do that without a lot money (tv ads, posters in train stattion/subway, etc).

Like someone said earlier, Nintendo doesn't usually go all out for marketting but it changed for Splatoon.

That doesn't mean you can just do that for any game. Those big AAA games are designed for mass market.
