I wish I wouldn't have bought the Mother 1 + 2 reproduction cart, ha ha.
I need more funds, but I will pick it up later.

I have a reproduction cart of this for NES, but bought it on principle. I always said I wished I could pay for a legit version of this game and NOA finally delivered.
Did they tone down the encounter rate and grinding?
If not this game is going to seriously disappoint a lot of people who have no idea what they're in for.
This game is so slow I needed to speed it up via emulation to make it bearable. Walking speed, text speed and too many confirmation dialogs, slow battles, it was all fucking glacial. Has that been addressed?

I'm tempted to buy this just to show support for Mother 3

Do iiiiiiit!!
But it's also a good game on its own merits. Aside from the obvious pitfalls NES RPGs tended to fall into like grinding and overly-labyrinthine map design, the atmosphere and music of Mother are really evocative. There's this general unique, melancholy tone that's honestly more in line with 3 than 2, and even though it's not the most accurate translation the Sandhop script is really very charming and even poetic at times. It's a game I feel every Mother fan should at least try.
So from the sounds of it, this is one of those RPGs where it's more lengthy because of the grinding you have to do?
Also sadly reminded I'm not very far into Earthbound.
Yes, it's a lot more grindy than Earthbound. Definitely worth playing though. The story is awesome and theis creepy and great.final showdown with Giegue
I love howthe attacks he makes are just completely inexplicable, like this being is godlike and you can't even comprehend what is happening. Really bridges that horror game feeling mixed with childhood nostalgia that the whole series always nails.
Mother is way more of a grind. It has more specific overwhelming moments when it comes to enemy difficulty and brutality than Earthbound. So from the sounds of it, this is one of those RPGs where it's more lengthy because of the grinding you have to do?

Yikes. I remember the earlier moments of Earthbound was a bit brutal because you only had one party member (like the first boss & having do FIVE FIGHTS IN A ROW at the police station).Mother is way more of a grind. Anyone else experiencing some serious input lag when playing on the Gamepad? I've had it sometimes with other VC games, but nowhere near as bad as this one.

Yes almost a half second delay. Depending on where I am. Need to hold the d pad to turn sometimes. I think that's just the game though

Yeah, you NEED to grind in Mother. Was it Mother or Mother 2 where the final area of the game wasn't play-tested because of time constraints (which resulted in SIGNIFICANTLY harder enemies as a result)? It's been a while since I beat Mother 2, but I do remember the final area being rough...So I can't ever remember.
Did they sensor naked Ninten in this release?

Thinking back, Mother is the only NES JRPG I've ever beaten, unless you count LoZ. It may be brutal, but I feel like it's easier than most NES ones. I'd have had a chance with DQ3 and 4, but I played the remakes of those.
Can I get this on my Wii?
IMO DQ3 and 4 are easier. They have better rhythm and require less outright grinding, and the grinding itself is more fun. Mother is akin to Dragon Quest 2, maybe a little worse in some ways. Certainly lacking in terms of equipment.
Really debating whether to pick this up or not. I am really bogged down with Splatoon and TW3.
I hear ya. I probably will cave.Wouldn't hurt to pick it up n ow for the support and play it in your down time.
I JUST WANT TO TAKE PIPPI BACK HOME LET ME OUT OF THIS CEMETERY.
I swear, these random encounters are the worst ever. You can't take two steps without four bats showing up.
I finally got out of the cemetery with Pippi, but good god that encounter rate.
Glad this came out at a point where I was craving genuinely any single player game I could get my hands on. Also I noticed that the run button just doubles the speed of the game.
Haha, yeah, the run button is kinda hackily implemented.
It was apparently added in for the unreleased version, so it's not surprising.
