Gears of War UE - Cinematic Comparison

The atmosphere is significantly different with the extra colours and lighting. I guess going from 1 to 3 something similar happened though too, much wider colour palate use. Unsure of feels, but it seems less gloomy when it's supposed to be.

I also don't get why they made it even more grey :/
Gears of War was so greyish already and that's also what i loved about sequels, having more shades.
Also, why does Marcus looks amused on the new one when
Kim gets stabbed
?

I prefer the old character models especially Cole's and Marcus and the older one also feels like it has amuch darker tone because of the darker colours and lightning.

Some of the darker shadowing is what made gears 1 feel dark and gloomy to me, remove that by using more of a gears 3 visual style and you take away part of the original gears.

I always pick cole train but I always thought he looked weird.. the new one substantially better.

Not overly fussed about the cutscenes, is the gameplay any different?

Didnt notice any glaring changes in the beta apart from the stupid team color highlighting

Game looks significantly better. I couldn't stand Gears 1, personified everything that was bad about "edgy realistic graphics" of last gen. Might actually play the new one for more than a few hours.

I actually think it looks significantly better. It's been a LONG time since I played the original GOW, but I guess I completely forgot about those random onscreen flashes. Those felt extremely out of place in my opinion.

Really embarrassing the people saying the old one looks, "100x's better" and can't believe the one on the left is the old one (youtube comments). Are people really that blind or way too consumed with nostalgia?

The cinematography, effects, animations are miles better in the remaster. But it is cool to act like the old one looks better, so there is that...

Like how they shortened the amount of time Ram is walking up to Kim while he is unaware. They cut out that section in the linked trailer but seeing the whole thing from the comic-con panel it was silly - in the original - to keep flashing to Marcus watching this big monster stroll up to a squad-mate and have him not do anything.

The scene where Raam (or whatever it's called) kills the guy, i prefer the lighting in the old version.

Everything else is just tons better, but this cinematic was prerendered on X360 and i believe it's prerendered on XboxOne too, so not really a meaningful comparison.

its just some nostalgia, Cole's model does not even looking like a human in the older version

Fine by me. Gears 1 was absurdly impressive from a technical standpoint but I thought that game was hideous even upon release in terms of color palette.

I don't like when developers take too much liberty with a remake and change too much. To me the whole point is to experience the exact same game just with a new coat of paint. Try not to change the mood and overall tone, don't rearrange cutscenes even if they make more sense afterwards.

Still going to buy this down the road but I'd prefer a version that absolutely sticks to the original in every way.

And the new one loses the artistic touches that made the original unique.

Oh well, guess I shouldn't expect anything less from Microsoft.

The original was unique in that it had roughly 3 colors making up an entire game.

Cole Train looks almost like a person now. I kinda prefer the colors in most of the old footage more though some stuff is improved beyond the better models/clarity too.

its like some of you forget gears 2 and 3 are a thing, when you complain about changes to character models/environments.

The remaster version looks a lot better. The only thing is that sometimes the skin in the characters looks without any detail.
