Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

This is kind of a weird week for Destiny, post 1.xx and just starting 2.00. There's things in the game that aren't active yet (earning Legendary Marks, Patrols working as intended, etc).

This week I would focus on trying to get your character to lvl 34 Any engrams you get you are safe to decrypt, they won't turn into Taken King gear. Don't finish the class specific quests, they give an emblem as a reward that is bugged and you won't get.

That's really it, check out the new crucible modes, get used to the areas again, see if you can join some raids since you may not have done them yet, don't get too crazy, that's what next week will be for.

Head over to the community thread if you have more specific questions, there's a lot of very helpful people over there.

Sounds like a good start, thanks!

Can someone explain to me what are subclass quests for my titan? Now bungie is saying not to do them cause theres problems with it....

If you go to the tower as a striker or defender, you'll be given a quest from your Vanguard leader.

It's a 4 stage quest to do different things regarding your subclass.

Just don't do it until next Tuesday.

Have people completely abandoned the Thorn?

I've actually been having fun playing PvP. I was using the Monte Carlo before the update and it feels even better now I'm not getting thorn'd across the map.

Hand Cannons in general have been given steeper drop off ranges to that they aren't used as such long distance weapons.

Played as a Hunter yesterday.

I had two quests.

I completed one that had me talking to Cayde, going to orbit, and coming back to tell him about being a Hunter. That completed the quest.

The other had me killing people with my Arc abilities. I completed that one. Now I have to generate orbs.

Tell me, GAF, did I miss an emblem?

How do I see objectives for those field testing weapons you can get from the gunsmith? Saw a video saying you'd pick up bounties at the bounty board for them, but there's nothing there, and I don't get any quest or anything else either

It's in the items description, some have to be done in crucible, others have to be majors, the one sniper says you get more xp for double kills

For a titan it would be "the path of the striker" one?

Yes.

I think the emblem is the reward for the last step of this.

$40 for TTK is a reasonable price. It absolutely isn't a fantastic value. It would be at $25-30.

it's even worse in GBP, £40 for TTK or £40 for the retail edition which also includes dlc 1 and 2 and the main game together. And that legendary edition is £55 from the digital store too.

Terrible pricing all around for destiny.

Ok. Finally getting caught up. Question, Emblems and shaders are now tied to the kiosk now right? So ask the ones I've owned will be available correct? To save vault space I spread my emblems and shaders to other characters but if they are universal between characters I don't need to worry about it do I?

Same with Exotics too correct?

For me it is - I've played Destiny for nearly 2000 hours. TTK is very much a welcome expansion and $40 for many hours it will provide is nothing.

You need an exotic shard to "print" a new copy of an exotic in your archive.

Correct, except there are some emblems that aren't in the kiosk (specifically ones that were gotten though codes redeemed on bungie's site, and previously available at the special orders vendor, who does't exist right now). Just check before you get rid of it that it's in the kiosk.

There is a problem with the shader kiosk I've encountered.

I have one character who has achieved Crota rank 4 (with Eris Morn). He is the only character who can pull out the three Crota shaders from the kiosk. My other characters cannot.

I thought the kiosk system was account-wide? The exotics I've unlocked show up the same for all three of my characters.

Given how many hours I'll be playing it and also the money I'll be saving by not buying other games, it's an incredible value to me.

This speaks to the major disconnect that much of Destinygaf has with those of us who maybe enjoy the game but aren't overwhelmingly huge fans of Destiny - Value for many of us doesn't really come from the fact that you are willing to replay the content you bought for hundreds of hours, but how much actual new content you are being given. This can matter both in relation to expansions/DLC in general, and in relation to the the amount of expac content relative to the amount of content in the base game. By either of those metrics, $40 for the new content in TTK (1 new planet-type zone, 4 strikes, etc), isn't exactly a bargain.

If I don't care about emblems, is it okay to finish it?

It's not a bargain but it's not a rip off either. There should be around 10ish hours of new PvE content including the raid. That's more than fair for $40 IMO.

The real issue is that emotes are class specific. For 80 Bucks my Warlock is stuck with one of the worst dance emotes in the entire game. It's even worse that I can preview the Hammer Time emote on my Warlock in the music room by the hanger but can't apply it. Bungie needs to fix this, seriously.

Source on the "According to Bungie" part?

This was posted yesterday on bungies official help forum.

Bungie posted list about know issues/bugs in 2.0, one point goes as follows;

We're aware of an issue where Patrols and Faction-specific Quests are not granting the expected rewards upon completion. These rewards will be granted as expected for these activities starting on 9/15/2015. Patrols and Faction-specific Quests completed before this time will not retroactively grant rewards.

I think as long as you dont complete task 8 on each clas quest then you should be good to go come tuesday to get the rewards correctly.

thats were I am stopping at currently,

It'll unlock on Tuesday, if you purchased the collector's edition. People who have them now got them early on accident, same with the SUROS emblem and shader.

I'm just gonna leave them alone, stack up on dailes and packages to turn in and lvl like a madman when TKK drops :D

I take back what I said before about some of these quest issues getting through QA and it being OK...

Missing out on rewards that will not pay retroactively is not OK...

Edit: I bet there is a long list of "known issues" from their release notes that they are choosing not to include in their patch notes...

Destiny is a constantly evolving game that is a fantastic social shooter. If I wanted to count content, I have Witcher 3. Overall, Destiny has been a fun experience for me and I don't mind paying the money. People spend more than that for a night out.

tried to do the level 32 PoE as a level 33 with two level 34 players, and they both said it was too hard, harder than it should be, and or more difficult than pre 2.0. any truth to this? or a case of the "git gud"s? it was my first time playing PoE so i have no basis for comparison.
