Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Have a question...

Remember bungie saying they would release the content in the taken king collectors edition to existing owners of destiny and dlc as a $20 dlc (probably will be £20 here knowing them...), is that still happening?

Can't find it anywhere in the store. Only the £75 bundle which includes everything.

Also for that sub quest quest, say I complete it for striker...can I complete it for defender? Just a bit sad you're locked from quests and class items depending on which you do first from the looks of it.

It's hidden. You have to log into Destiny, go the the destinations on the star chart and look on the right for a red Taken King symbol next to the empty spot for the new area. Select that and it should give you the option to buy solo Taken King for $40 and Taken King and CE goodies bundle for $60. Note that buying that through Destiny and not the PSstore doesn't give you the preorder theme.

I might be mistaken (lol), but didn't Bungie say we'd start seeing Taken start to appear in the world prior to the release of TTK like they did with the previous two expansions?

I left Destiny before the first expansion came out, and now I am jumping back in.

Is there a good overview of all the small and bigger changes that have happened with every patch and expansion? For instance, I think weekly heroics originally did not have matchmaking, but now they do?

I know Bungie said on their site (but the info's since been removed), can you confirm all the expansions are DLC codes?

All expansions are downloaded with only one 12 digit code which won't be valid until 15th September. The disc in the box is identical to vanilla Destiny. Same code and all.

Does leveling up affect game balance? For example, previously you could be level 20, go to old Russia and a mob of dudes, though easy to kill, could lower your shields and still kill you relatively quickly if you were careless. Is this still the case or do actual stat changes accompany these levels. Defense, damage, etc..

Just to confirm, If I buy TTK Legendary Edition now digitally on PS4 I can play the base game + DLC before Tuesday already, right? Anyone know how much GB I have to download? Only had the base game on disc a year ago, but sold it before any DLC came out.

Honestly the list of changes since before the 1st expansion are gigantic. If someone made a list of patch notes for you it would be pages probably

But yeah weekly heroic has matchmaking now. NightFalls still don't though

Thanks for responding.

I checked my account on Thursday and it said it was sent on the 9th.

Just as long as I am not the only one I guess. Frustrating though.

I got my dispatched email on Thursday too, just after 5pm. If you already own Destiny, you're not missing out on anything as the codes won't be valid until Tuesday. The code leaflet says that TTK will be playable from 5am that day.

Dunno if it was cause there was a typo the email address I used when signing up (managed to get back into my account and change it to the correct email) but I never got an email from them that it was dispatched (but got a text on Thursday).

This will be my first time playing the full version. All I have to play is the Destiny Demo. I've been holding out for the legendary collection as that seemed to be a better deal than getting the base game. :(

No world events yet. You can do the new Patrol quest-type if you want though. I think it's pretty fun. Since you can fail it there is actually a bit of a challenge.

I've been running with 2 warlocks and a hunter. Is there any point to keeping the alt. warlock now with all the changes made in the Taken King?

The quests on the planets or the ones given by the robots in the Tower?

Forgive my naïveté, but why would you have needed an alt warlock even before?

My friend did the same with two hunters. He hates the Titan class but still wanted three characters to maximize his chances of getting loot from Nightfalls and raids.

With all the recent changes, the race to be at the highest level is no more. It's actually better to have one of each class for maximum experience of the whole game.

Probably from the past two expansions, where the only way to reach the max level was via the raid and raid gear. Since you could only run the raids for loot once a week, several people made duplicates of their favorite class so they would have more chances at the armor they wanted.

The quests that are given by the beacons when you are on patrol on a planet. I think the new ones are called Overcharge....the icon for it is a little clock face. You have to race around a zone on your Sparrow, hitting different colored gates at quick intervals.

Question for the Gaf Destiny collective. I've just got back into destiny today and feel very lost I quit at the first Exp. My Titan is 30 is it worth starting it again to experience the new quest system and get a better grasp of the changes since I left, or should I persevere?

You can replay all the quests you've already done on your level 30 without starting over.

There's an abandoned quest board to the right hand side of the class vanguards.

Is that your only character? It wouldn't hurt to make another character because if you get sucked into the game, you'll want more than one character at 30+ to do nightfalls and raids with. It equals more chances for exotics and other drops since you get to do them once per week on each character. It's not necessary though. You could do whatever activities you want to get to 34 (up to 40 starting on Tuesday) and then see what gear you need to get your light level up and then go from there. They really only changed the way the menus look, they didn't exactly change the content. So if you use your titan, you just figure out if you need to do any story missions, if you want to do PVP, what type of gear you might need to be able to do higher level content. Stuff like that.

I stopped doing the beacon quests because the robot quests weren't asking me. I will definitely give them a look now. Sounds like fun.

There's TTK discs right? Anyone know if gamefly is getting them? All I see is the old entry. :/

Not really, the disc that comes with physical TTK is pretty much a vanilla disc, all the expansion content is tied to codes.

Yes. After purchasing it'll show The Taken King as a preorder but Destiny and expansion 1 and 2 will be available to download immediately. For some reason Destiny didn't show in my Library after purchasing, probably due to the base game being removed from the store. You can get around it by either downloading from the menu immediately after purchase or by going to your library via the PlayStation Store webpage and selecting to download from there.

The download for me was a little shy of 40GB. It was about 18GB for Destiny and 18GB for the required update. The downloads will include the base game, expansions and The Taken King regardless to whether or not you have them purchased.

One last thing to note, which may or may not apply to you, is that if you have the disc version of Destiny installed on your PS4 and you purchase a digital copy you wish to use instead then you'll need to delete the disc version of the Destiny application first in order to download and play the digital version otherwise you'll need to keep using the disc to play.

Yep it was exactly this. With the vault of glass I was a forever 29 even though I ran the raid twice weekly as a warlock. Put me off the game for a long time. I haven't played much in a while and only ran the prison a few times but if there's an incentive to have one of each character and given the rest of the changes I'm tempted to jump back in.

I hope this isn't the case vice versa... I already had the trail with the updates but I am getting the CE, I'm gonna be passed if I have to download that update again on Tuesday

Bungie should just grant people who have boughten all the DLC and the Taken King a digital version of vanilla. Then I'd give my disc away, which would snag some other poor unknowing sap into the void(burn) of Destiny.

Are the codes separate? I'm trying to sell the how and tdb ones lol

See my above post. I am not certain, but other people have been giving the impression that is a single code the includes all the DLC/TTK, so you wouldn't be able to sell individual DLC codes.

Thanks! Yea, I deleted the application right after selling the disc last year, so that shouldn't be a problem. It's downloading 36 GB right now just as you said. Damn this will take till monday with my internet and PSN.

Is the physical copy of The Taken King in stores yet? Just wondering if I can trade in my Destiny vanilla to Gamestop for that deal...

It's a special Red Bull you can only get at 7-11, right? If not there's at least a special marking or design, right? I've not seen any Destiny cans floating around.

I already own a physical copy of the game and both expansions. Would there be any issues if I bought the digital legendary edition so I wouldn't need to use the disc anymore?

At least you have redbull.

*sips redbull*

I tossed it :X I already have too much caffeine every day lol.

I got mine at a 7-11 on my way to work. The design is very different, you see some dude playing on it and a hunter.

So do you guys think TTK is gonna fix a lot of the problems people have with Destiny? Always thought this game looked cool, but was turned off by the reception.

I don't think I saw in the OT, or maybe I missed it.. does this game have a glamour/transmog system yet where you can wear the look of older armor for cosmetic purposes while keeping the stats of the armor you actually have equipped?

I've just gotten back into Destiny this past week. Really enjoying it so far. Is there anyone else who's never done the raids and would want to try it for the first time? I'm more of a solo campaign player so they're one part of the game I've never touched. Or would anyone be willing to walk me through the raids on hard before TTK so I can complete the Triumphs? I'm US west coast, PS4, Traxus12 on PSN.

I'll probably be free tonight or Sunday sometime. I have a Titan defender at level 34 with Saint-14 helm.

Wow...

Didn't know the physical version of TTK was just a vanilla/reprinted Destiny disc and everything else download codes (thanks for the heads up GAF!)

I guess I'll just be buying this digitally then as the cover art for TTK is ugly anyway.
