Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Quick question: if the only expansion I bought is The Dark below, I don't really have an option but to buy TTK for 70$ (Go Canada!). There is still the 20$ House of Wolves expansion but I think it's too late to buy that now (money wise...)

Thoughts?

Thanks

Edit: If I would not have bought The dark Below, it would now make sense to buy TTK wit all the expansions. Now, I just wasted 20$ when I bought the dark below 5-6 months ago...
Now, I'm stuck paying 70$ for only 2/3 of new stuff...

Hahaha. The Vanguard Legacy playlist SAYS it gives rewards unlike the individual strikes but it actually doesn't. God damn it Bungie. Why are you shitting on those of us trying to catch up?

Hey guys. Need some advice.

I traded my copy of Destiny last week thinking It was going to be cheaper buying TTK disk version, but I completely forgot that I already purchased house of wolves and the dark below. Do you guys advise I buy a pre owned version of Destiny and download the TTK online?

would that end up cheaper?

I played at a friends house yesterday because I was considering buying the legendary edition after the game was my biggest disappointment of the year last year.

Game hasn't changed. It's the same pointless grind. The multiplayer is still awful. The game design is still grind and repeat.

I guess to me this game feels like a bunch of boxes to tick off and meters to fill but the process of doing that isn't much fun.

I can't ever get into mmo games for the same reason. Games are always kind of a waste of time, but for some reason destiny makes me care that I am wasting my time.

Came into this thread looking to ask about everything you mentioned. Sad to hear its more of the same.

Amazing OT Zoba, I dunno how you have time to put together such a comprehensive post, but it's appreciated. Really highlights how much new stuff there is in expansion.

Anyone know anything else about that nonsense Redbull quest?

Thanks Zoba ,My son is coming back for taken king and this helped me explain it to him a lot better than I ever could !
Loving mayhem mode atm its great for people like me who cannot shoot for shit hehe

I had fun leveling through the OG story and HoW, TDB, but now im to the point where you grind and check boxes. Regretting my purchase right now. Atleast TTK looks like it has some good content even though it will last 10 hours.

I only played Rift on Frontier and the match was like playing mind games with your opponent. Everyone stayed on their base and only a select few would try to get the spark.

Wait... What... Randoms know how to play Rift and play it properly where 12 months in they can't grasp Control for death of them?

Anyone know if the legendary edition is going to have multiple codes for the HOW, TDB, and TTK. I already have the two dlcs and would love to be able to sell them for cheap.

They weren't perfect. My team didn't understand that when one of your teammates has the spark your suppose to defend them and push towards the opponent's rift. Don't know how many times I got the spark and had no backup.

Question as someone that hasn't really followed the game and figured the Legendary Edition was a good jumping in point. I know the expansions are just digital codes. What I'm wondering, is there a reason to redeem any early on? I might hate the game so am considering holding off redeeming them in case I do. Do you get access to anything early on that would make redeeming them at the start worth it, or is it just higher level content?

I don't know why but many game developers don't like force feeding how to play PvP despite force feeding us everything else.

Only had the original game a few weeks prior to this update bit I've enjoyed the changes. The story and quests flow better, the general map layout is cleaner and the little things like the kiosks around the tower help. A bit disappointed that my level 28 character got to 34 in the blink of an eye though. I was enjoying the slow grind and tough challenging missions before the patch. I guess they want a quick max level for the influx of new players.

Also, the loading times between planets and hubs is much quicker now.

My body is ready...

The expansions are 1 code, and the year 1 expansions are interwoven into the campaign, so not using the code would make the game way worse for you. Also TTK content will most likely be a lot better than vanilla Destiny so might as well use it

Question: My buddy hasn't played this game before and I haven't played much. Would we be missing out on anything by getting into this now like how after Cataclysm, Vanilla WoW was changed permanently? Is TTK going to be a friendly experience to those who don't understand anything about Destiny (like what those coins are or how to upgrade your weapons and all that jazz)?

TTK is more friendly to new comers than Destiny was for most of year 1. You'll be fine.

The leveling systems and economy are actually simpler in TTK than in the first year, as materials are being consolidated and gear leveling streamlined. The campaign teaches you what you need to know, gives you enough gear to work with, and opens up gradually enough that you won't be confused about what to do and/or why. If you are unsure of anything ask in this or the Community thread, we'll help you out.

This is how I feel about the game. I played an hour and reached level 25 but I've experienced all of the games content except for the raid. I don't have time to waste on grinding strikes for maybe a piece of new gear. I'd like to experience TTKs new content but not for 50 bucks.

On a side note. I'm at level 25 and i don't have a single piece of legendary or exotic armor. It pisses me off that in all the hours I wasted on this game I never got a single drop or end mission reward.

I noticed that Xur wasn't selling any Exotic Shards this weekend. If he's stopped selling them completely, is there any way for me to upgrade my year 1 exotics?

Thanks GhaleonEB!! :D Appreciate the info and definitely going to try to convince him to jump on board. I remember enjoying the gameplay (as most did) but found all the later game stuff to be rather confusing. Glad to hear they did a lot of work on it!

I hear Legendary marks will be used for some upgrades but he should sell exotic shards next week.
Besides, you can possibly get a year 2 version of the exotic you hav , which is bolder and better than upgrading your year one to max.

Good to know hell probably be selling them next week. I'll be updating to the Year 2 versions where available, but there are some extremely useful armor pieces that are strangely not being upgraded to Year 2 (Achlyophage Symbiote, for example). For armor pieces like this, I still feel compelled to upgrade them as far as I can.

The light level will prevent it from being worthwhile in anything but regular Crucible.

Aren't they mostly at the higher level though? I can't imagine I'll be experiencing many of these campaigns in the first say, 10 or so hours of the game right? Or is there stuff you can experience from moment zero?
