Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

I just salvaged most of my old gear. Was that dumb? I got exotic shards and whatever the legendary rare material is.

I'm wondering this as well. I get a bunch of green weapons now that look better than my year 1 legendary. Is it safe to just scrap all the old stuff? I have things like Shadow Price, Peruns Fire, and The Devil You Know. So...scrap them? I used TDYK so much too :(

I'd hold on to your favorites and old Raid gear. Bungie has a history of "oh, remember that gear... Now..."

Just stash it in the vault.

Question, what number of objectives does the taken King quest go up to? I'm up to objective 12. Worried its over soon...

So I just bought this, not sure why since I'm not even high level. Why did I buy this ?

Anyways, is anyone else suffering from extremely slow download speeds ? I have 66 hours left...

Ugh. I came home on my lunch and put the disc in hoping it would install and download the update. Only installed. 17gb download here I come.

My bestbuy had a TON of preorders out. A lot of destiny ps4 consoles too. Damn they look sexy

It's too early for a thread, but I think it's worth discussing nonetheless; how do you think the structure of TTK is an indication of things to come for year two's DLC? TDB and HoW got flak for being somewhat lacking in content, but I feel like we're going to get much meatier DLC this year due to some of the overall improvements in TTK (like cutscenes, actual questlines, etc) combined with Bungie finally hitting their stride.

Which is sad btw, i think it has as much recycled stuff as it does new. Not nearly as bad as the Dark Below in that regard, but def more than I'd like. Why can't we have all new areas for each planet or all new enemies that are not fancy reskins with a new ability?

I'm enjoying the Taken King, but I feel the overwelming praise for it is weird and somewhat troubling.

90% of it is new areas and assets. I don't see the problem using old areas as lead ins to new content. Especially when the game is about loot and the encounters (and now, finally the story).

One of the new areas is the door
on the other side of the Sepkis Prime room
. I was absolutely giddy to go there after being in that area so many times!

I opened my mailbox and looted everything (including the Level 25 boost) on my Level 27 character. Did I just use my free boost on a character that didn't need it? Or is the item stored somewhere?

Shame on me for not paying attention if so...

Not a fan of the way Legendary Marks are being handled. Feels like I have to play too particular to earn them.

I hope there is a ton of pushback from the community with the way it is setup now. Getting rid of the weekly limit and unifying the currencies was a step forward but the way they are so limited now is a bigger step backwards.

its an actual item in your inventory.

Bank it.
Someone PLEASE explain to me how to obtain Legendary marks.

All i know is get level 40 and play the new strikes.

Ive played up to the end and i have seen parts of old areas in most, if not every mission, in the planets you return to. Yes they expand on them and add a good amount, but it would have been better with all new stuff.

What are these 'old areas' you've seen playing every Saturn mission? Are you saying the moon and Earth missions would be better if they literally just moved the spawn points forward some more? You don't see the relevance in them giving a few seconds of context to where they are in the bigger overworld?

Ugh, rebooted my router and PS4 and the download speed is still horrendous. 62 hours to go... Anyone else also experiencing this ?

This Tex Mechanica exotic bounty is infuriating in Crucible. I'm up to 55%, but there's no quicker way to make pvp miserable than to slap difficult bounties in it.

This is the problem with TTK. The whole "it wasn't clear how to level up before with armor, forever 29, huge drop off" etc that they spoke about seemed more straight forward than light level because you could just keep running raids and strikes to unlock purple armor. Now the whole light level is going to be even more confusing especially considering marks are more confusing now.

You can get them from daily activities, some quests, and disassembling year 2 legendaries.

Its going to do BIG Business at retail.

And thats only going to be part of what it generates considering how many went digital. I want to know how many millions this sells month 1 but Activision won't give us that :-(

Fuck me, the post-campaign level-38-missions are tough. I just soloed the post-campaign mission "The Legion's Beachhead". You can only try to kill the boss as quickly as possible before you are being completely overrun by the Taken.

Question, why are all these fallen ethers dropping now? I don't see them in my inventory anywhere after I pick them up?

So I only own vanilla Destiny with only a character around level 23. Besides missions etc, am I missing out on anything if I don't own Expansion 1 & 2, and The Taken King? Or should I reach max level first?

There is a progress counter in the corresponding quest.

So what do all these updates do to the original game? Is the story different/better etc? My Wife and I play, but we only have level 12 characters, just wondering if starting over from scratch is a good idea if there are enough new things to encounter by starting over.

Join a faction, and work on Gunsmith rep to prepare for Armsday. Both are expensive.

If I understand what I read correctly, I level up Gunsmith rep by testing weapons for him. But that apparently does not cost any glimmer. I also bought a weapon from him to see if that increases the rep, but it does not.

Regarding factions, I could not find how to use glimmer for faction rep.

Cutscenes that are actually good. Who knew? Liking the new content but 5 hours seems kinda short for an expansion. I guess the Raid will make up for that. Gunplay is still as good as ever.

Buy heavy ammo with glimmer

Give heavy ammo for rep

Grind 25k glimmer,

rinse, repeat,,,,win

The Nightstalker Hunter quest was well done from a story perspective.. Shame that it uses recycled areas. Oh destiny.

Fuck me. I thought if I was full on my weapons/armor that any engrams could be picked up at the post master to be turned in. I left a shitload of them. Then I go back to the Tower and there's nothing there. God dammit.

OK made it to level 40 on my Titan.

Now does anyone know what to keep what to trash Old Weapons/Armor wise?

Do i keep materials or do i exchange what for what?

Can I delete the Class Items I no longer wear or do i keep them?

I believe i found Armor, Weapons, Ships, Emblem collections. Any i missed?

Alright so I started the first story mission in TTK but should I go back and do the questlines for TDB and HoW first? Is there a lot of story or set up for TTK in the two? Just wondering if I'm missing out on a lot by jumping right into TTK story after only beating the vanilla campaign around launch.
