Alright, Steambot Chronicles added to the list for sure.
I want to get Samurai Shodown Anthology for PS2 but after seeing the prices of 70+ used I rather get the much cheaper Wii version.
What's the difference that would cause such a price disparity? Is only one version 240p?
I now read it's in 480i.=OWhat's the difference that would cause such a price disparity? Is only one version 240p?
what samsho games are on Wii VC? seems that would be the obvious choice!
Hey just wondering if there is any recommended place to buy PS2 component cables?
I actually have a cheap third party one that I bought back in 2006 or so, but they were never great and cut out from time to time.
Thanks.
I always like when this thread gets bumped. Just the other night I was looking at my PS2 collection and soaking in the memories
EA Sports Big was such a great thing that I'm glad existed and sad it no longer does. Freekstyle is way too underappreciated and deserves to be mentioned right alongside SSX. Such good times
Freekstyle was amazing. On a side note, I miss stuff like Downhill Domination. Imagine something like that with today's tech.
I think this is overstated. You can still make budget games that look good and are fun, but don't break bank. Modern tools are really fantastic. Big pubs just compete in the pissing contest of trying to be the next big thing, thus the budgets are obscene.I think the whole "today's tech" thing is what's preventing it from happening. Budgets are too high nowadays which is why pubs are so risk-averse. PS2-era that shit would fly since a flop didn't necessarily tank ur studio.

Finding indie games you like on steam or around the net is 1000 times easier than finding PS2 games back in the day lol. This is what I consider to be the saddest part of modern gaming. The 6th generation of consoles was a great time to be playing games. Whatever you were into, there was a company making that type of game and it seemed like all the big names in the industry were able to get their pet projects made.
That's all gone today and it's exciting but also kinda sad to see those big names from the past having to go to Kickstarter now to make their game a reality. And it's sad to watch some of them fail, like First Wonder.
I hear some people say that the indie scene is where all the middle tier games went, but it's not the same. There's a lot of talent in the indie scene but it's so disorganized that it's a hassle to find what you're into.
4 tries seems pretty good to me lol. I rarely beat SMT bosses with less.I know Nocturne is the one with the hard reputation but Digital Devil Saga is beating me to a pulp! Takes me on average 4 tries to beat any one boss. And a lot of the time I'm just chipping away slowly because I can't output optimal damage. Its pretty awesome.
Presumably I'm near the end of the first game. This goddamn tower never ends.
Try to find Sony PS3 component cables.
I'm gonna pick up SNK fighting game collections within months from now...I really need to give Fatal Fury, World Heroes and Art of Fighting a try as I played King of Fighters(even back in the arcades) and Samurai Shodown back then(and will own them soon).
Thanks.
It doesn't matter what region the cables are from right? They work correctly with PAL signals? I assume so.
Some of my most recent PS2 grabs for my collection:
I played quite a bit of Kuon over the weekend and I REALLY like it! FromSoft is just so damn good at building atmosphere.

I look forward to your thoughts on Samurai Western, phenomenal game.
I gotta get a copy of rule of rose. the collector in me needs it.

I played about an hour of it and I really like it. I think I'm definitely not utilizing the battle system to its full extent though and I end up spamming the attack and dodge buttons, haha. I'm gonna play some more thus evening and make a conscious effort to use more of the fight mechanics. How long is the game?
Haha, that's pretty much what drove me to get it. I want a full Atlus set for my PS2 and I knew this one would probably be the biggest thorn in my side to get and I figured if PS4's PS2 emulation ended up supporting discs, more people might get into PS2 collecting. So I wanted to get it before the price might've gone any higher :/
Interesting. My copy, purchased from Target, was actually the other way around. The second cover was the one displayed.Stand Alone Complex was the most expensive at $8. It plays great, but what suprised me is the packaging. It has reversible cover art. I thought this wasn't a thing until the PS3 era.
Standard art
Reverse side art (Reflective)

How common were reversible covers in the PS2 era?

I'm not sure a pal copy would work in my set up. Apparently pal games on ntsc dev units have some weird issues, though obviously I haven't tested it myselfliterally just sold my PAL copy a few months back to pay other stuff off, haha
I'll be surprised if we get disc based at all.If PS4 gets disc-based PS2 BC going...I'll probably never play another PS4 game again, haha.

That would be pretty hype. I would embrace the PS2 nostalgia wave.
Is the Japan standalone release of Metal Slug 3 240p on PS2?
