Now we've hit December, which system had the best library in 2015?

PS4 because MGSV and Bloodborne.

Wii U is a close second thanks to Splatoon.

Cant say I cared for Xbone or 3DS this year.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
I too am going with Wii U.
Splatoon, Fatal Frame 5, Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, a good year of Smash Bros and much more.

It's definitely more fun than I had with the PS4 (although it comes close enough).

Wii U is a very good console, it's just sad that people are blinded by its price and lack of power compared to Xbone and PS4.

People are not blinded by its lack of multi platform games tho. Or big ones. Thats probably the Wii U's biggest downfall.

No GTA 5 or Minecraft. The Wii doing fine last gen with no big multi platform games or with the ones it did have not selling well was an exception to the rule, not the norm.

I think the reason many became Sony fans with the PS1 is because of 2 games...FF 7 and Metal Gear Solid. IMO Nintendo has never recovered from that and other big 3rd party games that didnt show up on their home consoles.

If all one wants to play is exclusives any of the consoles would have you satisfied..IMO. I always look at the overall library or overall anything when I'm buying something. Whether its specs or features...I look at the whole package.

To be honest all consoles had kind of weak year for me, which is why I didn't buy any of them yet. As a primarily PC gamer this gen (and having had all consoles previous gen), consoles haven't really built a strong exclusive library just yet that would make me feel good about buying one.

Whenever the eventual slim designs of the systems roll around it will be a good time to reconsider.

Batman Arkham Knight may as well be a PS4 exclusive.

The only calendar year that the Wii U's library has "won" might be 2014. Definitely not 2015, though, no matter how good Splatoon is.

To be honest, as a player I thought the Wii U had a terrific year on the strength of Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, and Yoshi's Woolly World alone (and Kirby was no slouch either, and we'll see soon enough what I make of Xenoblade X). But it has always been a quality-over-quantity system, which suits me just fine as a quality-over-quantity player who would always choose to spend fifty hours apiece on five games than five hours apiece on fifty. That's perfect for players for whom first-party Nintendo is a tastemaker that reliably hits the sweet spot, and the moaning about third-party support has always rang to me as somebody else's problem. Which is not to deny that it is a problem for moving units to a broad base, especially if people only wish to invest in one console and really can't do without GTA, the way I can't do without Mario. Nevertheless, in spite of being plagued with delays in the final months of the year, I thought the middle stretch of 2015 especially was quite kind to Wii U owners.

3DS had a roaring start to the year with Majora's Mask and Code Name: STEAM, but little else on it has appealed to me since, so it has largely been a system for clearing backlog for most of 2015.

I enjoyed them all, so I'm just gonna say all IMO. My favorite exclusives this year would probably be Kirby, Bloodborne, Undertale and Gears Ultimate.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Bloodborne automatically puts PS4 in the top.

I thought Halo 5 was incredibly disappointing, so Xbox just doesn't really have a chance, IMO.

I own both Wii U and PS4
I had more fun with PS4 this year.
I was late to the party on many games :p

Best Experience:

GTAV PS4 (the better edition)
Mario Maker
Bloodborne (PS4 Exclusive)
Killzone
Super Mario 3d world (wii U)
Street Fighter V beta
Sleeping Dogs (PS4 remaster)
Driveclub

Mediocre Experience

The last of US (PS4 remaster)
Super smash bros (wii u)
Zelda:Skyward sword (via wii inside the wii u)
Zelda:Twilight princess (via wii inside the wii u)

Worst Experience

Second son famous son (or whatever is called)
Nintendo Land
Uncharted collection demo

For consoles it was the Wii U, but generally it's been a dull year for consoles. Destiny kept me on my PS4 for a decent chunk of time.

PC has been where it's at for me for most of this year.

Overall XB1, but I got some good love on PC as well.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was the highlight of everything this year. Also loving Halo 5, Forza 6, and Rise replay. PC was Pillars of Eternity, and two EU IV expansions. I haven't even had time to play much of Fallout because there have been so many great games this year. One of the best years in gaming overall I think, and next looks great for most platforms (WiiU doesn't look so hot, but maybe NX will be great).

PS4 had Bloodborne above all other exclusives.

Xbox One and WiiU seem like a tie in the variety of good exclusive games they had.

1. Bloodborne for PS4.
2. xbox One and WiiU
3. Rest of PS4 exclusives.

PS4 because of the variety. Great mix of exclusives, indies, and japanese games. 2016 looks like it's following that trend.

just out of curiosity...for those claiming pc had the best exclusives, can we get some examples. it's ok to include small indies, which i love but preferably some big budget examples of why PC has the best exclusvies? I mean, I own a PC and I love it. I'd say elite: dangerous is probably my favorite exclusive PC game but...that's coming to consoles so...any other big examples? Prison architect is another favorite but I'm struggling to think of anything else that really rocked my world this year. undertale was good. maybe game of the year material. what else? I don't really think it's fair to include early access games here either. also, games that have released on ios and android shouldn't count either. Im just feeling people say 'PC, obviously' without even trying to give examples of recent top tier exclusives.

If the op was asking which system had the best library of games, including multiplatform and console / timed exclusives as well as remasters - basically an all inclusive list of all games released on each console - then its ps4 for sure.

I don't want to get into doing lists as some will disapprove and I don't have the time and inclination to do right now anyway. But, I will point anyone who disagrees with my choice to Metacritc's top rated games list for each console in 2015. I think it will be clear enough (as long as one tries to look at it with at least a modicum of objectivity) that the ps4 had a great deal more good to great releases (not available on xbox or wiiu) in 2015.

Nintendo if we're being serious about true exclusive library's. 3rd party wins hands down overall.

I'd say that, for the general public at least, the XB1 had an awesome year with huge titles like Halo, Gears, Forza and Tomb Raider. You can't go wrong with that.

Personally, I'm still trying to keep up with PS4 releases. Both consoles got great 3rd party support this year (I truly enjoyed Dying Light, Mad Max, The Witcher, MGSV for what it is, ZAT) but they are generally better looking on PS4, mixed with plenty of great indies, varied 1st party titles like Bloodborne, Until Dawn,
The Order ;)
Tearaway and a bunch of great remasters like UC Collection, Journey... Oh and Driveclub's infinite support and updates also kept me busy!

So yeah, I'd say PS4 for me personally.

Cities: Skylines
Pillars of Eternity
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
Elite: Dangerous (Coming to XBO)
Assetto Corsa (Although this may have been end of 2014)
Age of Empires II - African Kingdom Expansion
Heroes of the Storm
Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide (Coming to PS4)
Undertale
Invisible Inc (Coming to PS4)
Guild Wars 2 - Heart of Thorns

Even if some of those are going to PS4, they're still exclusive for the sake of discussion now since they aren't on those consoles yet.

Not to mention the innate PC advantage in multiplatforms, especially in games such as:

Fallout 4 (Mod Support)
The Witcher 3 (Mod Support and high-res/framerate)

So if you aren't/weren't interested in Halo or Bloodborne or other exclusives this year but were a fan of The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid V, Dying Light, Mad Max, Just Cause 3, Fallout 4 and the like, you've got all those in PC and the resolution/framerate advantage might be enough for that person to say that PC had the best library this year.

Remember, it's the best library, not the best exclusives.

I only have access to the PS4 and Wii U console libraries, and as far as games this year i'll go with the PS4 for Bloodborne (my GOTY), Rocket League, Life is Strange and AAA multiplats like MGS and Fallout. Witcher and Batman both took a fair chunk of my time, but I found both ultimately disappointing. Not bad, just not reaching lofty expectations.

Splatoon is a lot of fun though, and Mario Maker is coming for Xmas (it's actually my Son's Wii U) so looking forward to trying that out. Generally if I pick up the Wii U, it's for last year's titles like Smash and Mario Kart.

I have a Macbook Pro, which translates as an expensive way to buy a PC yet waive membership to the master race. I can run smaller titles on steam no problem though, so i've bought (and thoroughly enjoyed) Her story and Undertale (not finished the latter yet though).

I was tempted by some of the X1 deals, because of Tomb Raider and the Rare collection - at the end of the day though, I just can't justify another console under the TV and another monthly fee. It doesn't look like XBox users have had a bad year by any stretch.

PS4 without a doubt but I still think multiplat games were the strongest.

The only system I haven't spent time with that much this year is X1.

Oh boy, it's hard because there's so many. In this year alone, for example, there were literally about 25-50 games releasing every week on Steam alone, and this number is absolutely no exaggeration. And the surprising thing is a high number of them were actually really good.

I am a horror enthusiast, so I'll focus on that, but this year there were multiple really good titles for every taste and genre. I'm sure someone else will answer more generally, but there's a HIGH number of games that releases on PC.

On Steam alone, there are 326 games that have releases this year so far with the horror tag. This includes basically every horror game on consoles, and most come out months before their console counterparts and with better all around versions, but a high number of other titles.

For comparison quickly, checking, there were (So far, as December is not done yet) 2,784 games that have released on Steam alone this year. And this is straight-up games, not including DLC or other things. A lot of those titles were exclusive to PC, and a surprising number of them were actually really good.

For my horror enthusiasm, a few I want to point out from this year that didn't show up on other platforms:

Here's just a few misc horror games, one genre alone, and some exclusive games definitely worth checking out that came out this year:

Sunless Sea

You are the captain of a ship off to sea. A unique horror rogue-like with Lovecraftian tones where you can do anything to survive, eat your crew, discover secrets of the deep, all told with amazing writing and a unique narrative.

Into The Gloom

Simplistic style, but featuring an extremely tense atmosphere, effective scares, and twisted puzzles. Into the Gloom also has a branching storyline and is up there as one of the scarier games I've played despite its simplistic style.

Screens:

Lakeview Cabin Trilogy

An episodic horror-comedy game where you can do whatever you want, mess around with random items in the environment, survive a killer, become the killer, kill you friends, streak naked, summon the devil, get eaten by wildlife, kill yourself, ride a motorcycle, a zipline, jump into a wood chipper, play different group of friends, etc. It's basically an open-world sandbox stylized like horror movie sequels, currently 5 out of 6 of the episodes are released, very fun, dumb, funny, and sometimes tense.

Screens:

DreadOut

Indonasian horror game inspired by Fatal Frame, quite good, low-budget, but makes up for it in design and ambition. Second half of the game released this year, included some unforgettable horror scenes. One of the best modern 'classic' styled horror games to release.

Screens:

The Music Machine

A stylistic narrative-driven experience about a girl who either has split personalities or is possessed by the spirit of an adult killer who travel back to a campsite she once stayed at now long abandoned to learn a hidden truth. Quite interesting, I liked it quite a bit.

Kholat

Atmospheric game based on the Devils Pass incident in Russia, go through an open would mountain range where strange occurences occur. Includes vocal tracks by Mary Elizabeth of Silent Hill fame and voice acting by Sean Bean. Some pretty interesting moments and gorgeous visuals.

Screens:

Sylvio

Very unique horror game starring a psychic woman going to talk with ghosts in an abandoned amusement park surrounded by mystery. Use audio recordings you pick up to record and decipher ghost messages by editing them, drive around, survive ghosts, solve puzzles. Has won some recognition, including one of Rock, Paper, Shotgun's top 25 horror games of all time, and is incredibly unique.

Screens:

Homesick

You explore an abandoned building overrun with plant life and decay, trying to figure out clues to what happened to lead to this place to become abandoned for your own personal reasons, but soon get trapped into a nightmare. Gorgeous visuals, clever puzzles, interesting scenes.

Screens:

Monstrum

Randomly generated horror rogue-like where you get a random ship layout, but also a random monster of several. You have to find an escape method of the ship, there's several ways to accomplish this, while you avoid a sinister monster on-board the ship with you, all with different behaviors. Can be very different from experience to experience based on layout, the monster chasing you, and which method (of multiple possible) you're trying to use to get off the ship.

Screens:

Her Story

By the creators of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, an FMV game where you put together the story of a woman through tapes and records you have that unveils a very interestingly woven tale.

Screens:

Spooky's House of Jump Scares

A freeware horror game where you must transverse 1000 rooms to escape a mansion full of strange designs and monstrosities. Somewhat of a parody game, but definitely has its moments.

Screens:

Fran Bow

Drawn horror point'n'click featuring a young girl locked into a mental institute after the murder of her parents she blames on a demon she saw. She believes if she can escape the nuthouse, her old cat will lead her to the saftey of her aunt's home, so she goes to make her way out. Interesting world, characters, puzzles, and up there as one of the best horror point'n'clicks I've played.

Screens:

Stray Cat Crossing

A grim dark fairytale-like story of a strange colorful surreal but dark and twisted world with strange characters, and a story that slowly unveils. Includes animated cutscenes and a 16-bit style.

Screens:

Layers of Fear

One of the best regarded horror games of this year, Layers of Fear tells a story of an artist delving into a twisted world of his own nightmares and paintings. Somewhat P.T. inspired, but very much its own thing, many consider it to have passed its source of inspiration and be one of the best horror experiences of the year.

Screens:

Undertale

More of an RPG, but it does sport the horror tag on Steam as well. One of the best regarded games of this year that has become one of the highest rated and highly acclaimed games of all time, and for good reason.

Screens:

AND I AM SO HOLDING MYSELF BACK. There's a bajillion other horror exclusives that released, some of which is very, very good. Including Pathologic HD Remaster, the re-translation and new artwork version of Higurashi, a game I really liked called The Coma... And it goes on and on, and this is just horror games I'm naming, there's almost 3000 games that released on Steam alone this year, and many are very, very good.

PC had the best multiplattform versions and great exclusives (Pillars of Eternity for example). So PC it is for me. PS4 only had Bloodborne for me. My only game on the console -.-

What's with all of the Bloodborne posts? It's a good game, but nowhere near "the best game of the last 10 years". Wtf. If any game deserved that title it would have to be The Witcher 3.

On topic: PS4

Im just feeling people say 'PC, obviously' without even trying to give examples of recent top tier exclusives.

You said 'no EA' but since it just got a big update and now has lots of content I'll still say Killing Floor 2, best coop experience of the year (and probably the next few). Was Crypt of the NecroDancer mentioned? Or Assault Android Cactus. The third Starcraft 2. There's so much that I and I suspect others are forgetting excellent games we only played a few weeks ago.

Yeeeeep.

Reminded me of why I love gaming again.

Resogun has been doing that for me for the past 2 years. Rocket League too.

But yeah Bloodborne is legit. I keep going back and forth between it and Demon's as my favorite mainly due to Demon's having the best Death - life consequences of any of the other games.

Halo 5 has taken over my gaming time significantly since launch, that with EA access made my xbox one very good this year.

I have played alot of PC as well but it's mostly 400 hours of Rome 2: total war, so I don't think it really fits in the category of 'best library in 2015'

Whichever platform that has Bloodborne.

Man, wish I had a PS4 just for this. Only reason I didn't buy it was that Dark souls 3 is so near.

Last Year would most likely have been Wii U but this year Bloodborne alone takes PS4 to the top. There is also UC collection, God of War 3 remastered. I mean that along with other third parties like Destiny, Arkham Knight, MGS5 etc.

PC probably but I cannot personality comment on it as I havent played PC indies in a long time so my choice falls for PS4 thanks to Bloodborne. None of the big three impressed me other than From but I will admit I havent played Splatoon.

Although many thought it had a weak year, i'm going with Wii U.

Project Zero: Maiden of Blackwater
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Devil's Third
Super Mario Maker
Yoshi's Wooly World
Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush
Splatoon

The upcoming Fast Racing Neo will no doubt be excellent and we even had Mother 1 hit virtual console in addition to some great Smash and Mario Kart 8 DLC. Sure there were some...not do great titles like Animal Crossing amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash but I feel the Wii U not only had some fantastic titles with mass appeal but also some gems like Devil's Third.

Multiplatform wise we've had some pretty great games too like
The Witcher 3
Fallout 4
Batman Arkham Knight
Star Wars Battlefront
Metal Gear Solid V
Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Xbox One got
Ori and the Blind Forest
Rare Replay
Halo 5
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Forza Motorsport 6

PS4 got
Bloodborne
The Order 1886
Until Dawn
Disgaea 5
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Dragon Quest Heroes
Tearaway Unfolded

When you factor in multiplatform games all systems had a great year but i'm personally sticking with Wii U, had so much fun with it this year! I would then choose Xbox One solely for Ori and the Blind Forest.

What about you guys, which console gave you the most enjoyment in 2015?

I've only listed the games i've played so please correct me if I missed some great ones.

If you list Ori, why not The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and SOMA on the PS4 side?

PC gaming is not about the best "exclusive", it is about having the best versions of multi platforms games, sometimes by large.

When you can play Alien Isolation at 144Hz max settings, can you still say it is the same game as the console version ?

Look at the recent Just Cause 3, AC, Mad max, and so on. Even Arkham Knight patched now runs at much higher settings and framerate than the console version.

Of course, a few exclusives are still possible, not even including the monsters (DOTA, LOL, WOW).
