Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

Played a bit of the game before I went to bed last night and after having the game on my iPhone & iPad, I can definitely say this game was meant to play with a playstation controller. I'm already falling back in love with this game, like I did when I got it on the PS one many years ago

IMO, the graphics are perfect. Hell, the music sounds f'n fantastic through my bose speakers.

Somethings were meant to stay exclusive on Playstation and FFVII is definitely one of them.

You guys should really play the original PS1 version on emulator.

It's actually better than this version in so many ways..... not the least of which is the 15 fps battle menus of the PS4 version... just like PC.

Would not recommend buying this PC port at all, saying this as a huge FF7 fan.

I bought the game last night and I downloaded the theme as well, but when I try to select the theme there is a lock symbol on it saying that it cannot verify my license? What's up with this? I can't even use it :(

It's pretty easy. Pretend you can kill the Midgar Zolom on the 1st/2nd disc and boom, instant trophy.

Funny you say that!

Got my party to about level 25, used Aeris' limit break that makes you invincible at juuuuuuuuust the right time, and BAM! I beat the damn snake with its own skill, Beta :)

I dont need no chocobo to cross this desert!

Sure it took about an hour of grinding, but it was worth it to kick that snakes ass first chance I got :)

Well, decided to buy it. Never played FF7 before, and as a gamer who likes RPGs, I feel I really should. Now I can finish it and be excited for the Remake like everyone else.

The game holds up pretty well imo. The only thing that I really have to get used to is the 15 fps during battles. Using the 3x speed makes everything seem smoother during battles but makes the turns go to quick. There's no way to make the enemy wait when your bar is full right? The 'Wait" battle doesn't really seem to do anything. That would make the battles more playable in 3x speed.

Anyway, looking forward to completing it :)

I feel really sad in this thread. The emulated PS1 version is so much better, especially in regards to the battle menu gameplay, and even looks better in some ways, than the PC/PS4 version....

And yet no one tries that.... for free. Incroyable!

You can actually just walk across the desert if you let the Midgar Zolom move to the East side of the Desert.

You can also re-direct it there by moving in and out of the Desert area to make it curve and move in certain directions.

GAF theme did that when I bought it, just wait a few hours and it sorts itself out.

What if we want sexy trophies, and what if we want to play on our PS4's? :P

Yeah, you can avoid it, but avoiding it doesnt get you Beta

I don't think I've ever seen a thread with fewer people actually reading it. 25 pages of "What theme?" "Did they get rid of this guy are sick?" "How do I use cheats?" "What's the font?" over and over again.

Right...

Ok this is the first time I have played the game since it released. Sorry if this has been asked already but...

I had some weird icon in the bottom left of my screen and my limit gauge never ran out. I thought it was some weird perk thing or twitch integration at first.

Anyone know what's happened? Have I accidentally enabled a cheat? I hope not, I want Trophies! I did get a few at the very start though.

Press R3

Any way to make this full screen?

Oh, and how do I get Barret to date Cloud, exactly? Going for the Plat

When you get to that Golden Saucer scenario you should be able to see Aeris, Tifa, and Barrett and you just talk to whoever you want to spend time with. At least that is my recollection of the events. Tifa and Aeris were always somewhat obvious but Barrett was off to the side. It's been a while!

I need to look what options to pick to get Don Corneo to pick Cloud.

No way in hell is it better. I have the PS1 version. It doesn't have 3X speed up or the ability to skip battles cheats built-in. It also doesn't have trophies. You're batshit crazy.

PSX version is not better. I put them side by side as well and took this with my cellphone.

yo did not know about the cheat code, thats game changer.. did my grind back in 97 so im definitelly gonna take advantage of the cheat code hahaha. is there a cheat code to unlock that summon knights of round? i remember the grind getting that

For the Bromance trophy with Barret I'd recommend using the Cosmo Canyon glitch that you can farm infinite points:

"Cosmo Canyon
------------
When you first enter Cosmo Canyon, the entire party will split up. If
Barret was in your party when this occurs, then you will be able to find him
in the room behind Tiger Lily's weapon shop, where he'll offer to talk more
about AVALANCHE.
"Go on" (+3 Barret)
"Not really" --

"And then?" (+3 Barret)
"Yeah, whatever..." --

Choosing the non-scoring options halts the dialogue, but you can talk to
Barret again to resume it at that point. Also, if you leave the room after
picking "Yeah, whatever...", you can return immediately to start the
conversation from scratch. This scripting oversight allows you to get the
first +3 Barret as many times as you like, so long as you don't get the
second +3."

So I'm saved?! :D

Kinda nice that you can switch from the English script to the Japanese script by changing your PS4 system language. Wonder what other languages are included.

Kinda a bummer no display settings (that I can find anyway). If I have to play in 4:3 I'd at least like to get rid of the inch at the top and bottom.

Ah, shite. I messed up the most important choices to date Barret. Time to start again and follow a guide this time.

There's a conversation you can exploit with Barret to gain a lot of affection points with him.

However, there is an easier way than keeping track of your interactions with each character. Play through the game making choices as you like, and when you get to Cosmo Canyon do the following:

Speak to Barret in the room behind the weapon shop. He will tell a story about AVALANCHE and give you two opportunities to choose dialogue. Choosing "Go on" will boost Barret's affection by 3 points. In the next choice, choose, "Yeah, whatever", then leave and re-enter the room. This can be repeated forever to obtain an infinite number of points for Barret.

I think japanese, english, french, german and spanish.

I feel kinda bummed that the Platinum (and trophies in general) is devalued by the cheats.

Good platinum should always require some challenge without bullshit. I'm ok with the speed boost but the god mode thing? Nope.

Yeah, I hate the boost cheat. Its so easily accessible that youd be an idiot not to use it, at least during life and death situations.
It just feels like it nudges itself into "might as well watch it on youtube" than actually playing the game.

To be fair it's not like the hard trophies are ones that require super skill. Since you can easily cheese the Weapons without the cheats and it speeds the grinding up.

Or you can, you know, not use them.

Might as well add ''I win'' button to every game then. Just don't use it.

Looking forward to finally playing this for the first time. A bit of a shame that I know about the big story moment but I'm sure that I'll enjoy it just as much.

What's the average number of hours for a thorough playthrough? Not 100% or anything.

That theme is gorgeous too by the way.

Aw, wish I'd known that sooner. I want to get the Barret Date scene but I also want the extra lines with Tifa underneath the highwind later on. Could've abused both that and the Tifa bit in the jail.

I mean, they're both arbitrary and useless, and not tracked later on in the game, but still.

For the first time without the 3x speed I'd say 40 to 50 hours.

There are way crazier story moments after the one that everybody already knows.

I can think of a spoiler that is way more important than that one.
