Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo PS4 vs Xbox One Frame Rate Test.

This is going to need a lot of Umbra 3D Technology to help framerate performance...

Pixel counts indicate that the Final Fantasy 15 Platinum Demo uses a dynamic resolution on both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The PS4 resolution seems to vary between 1600x900 and 1920x1080 while the Xbox One resolution seems to vary between 1344x756 and something close to 1690x950.

Yeah I noticed that resolution has been improved compared to Duscae.
Frame rate still needs work (but at least on PS4 is not terrible).

Umbra save us.

Resolution being dynamic is honestly a pretty good deal. They should be able to get some considerable optimization done in the next 6 months, but I still expect mostly 30 with dips.

Finished game's visuals. Not frame rate or performance.

They're different concepts.

So you think they finished the game's visuals a long time ago and this is just an old demo?

and it's not just the frame rate that needs work, the IQ and aliasing is horrendous too.

They still have time to polish, I would assume they have little left other than that so I can only hope they get to a decent point of stability. Resolution isn't that big a deal for me, but I want the framerate to stay as put as it can.

13fps...

good thing its a demo

Demo played like an early kh level. I'm going to have a ton of fun with this, if the framerate keeps up in september

This is the biggest takeaway by me. When you are in the room with the furniture and you're small. Felt so much like KH. They got time to nail framerate and with this fanbase being outspoken I have no doubts it'll be fine. Or at the very least acceptable.

How old is this demo, is my question.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking.
They said beta/polishing phase started in November, which is also when they started talking about this demo iirc, i think the build is from that period too.

I'm still pretty optimist about the final game's graphics and performance (at least on PS4).

Had a chance to play the demo framerate was quite low especially right in the beginning (Platinum Demo/PS4 version).

games still 7 months away, plenty of time for optimization, no?

The game isn't being worked on up until release like that.

They have maybe 3 months for any drastic behind the scenes changes, then after that, we have to pray patches save the day for any series issues.

I'm guessing the day 1 patch for this game will be Witcher 3 huge.

Doesn't actually look that bad imo. Some noteable frame drops for sure, but not as bad as I was expecting admittedly. I think a few more months in the oven will do it a lot of good.

Patches are a thing and games these days pretty much are being worked on right up until release. You can bet your ass ND is still doing shit to optimize the hell out of UC4

Why can't they achieve a stable 30fps? Is the PS4 really that weak that they can't get it to run their vision smoothly.

It makes me wonder what kind of shit show was going on when it was a PS3 game.

And it still looks like crap. Downloaded, hated it. Deleted already. Horrible controls, framerate didn't seem solid, jaggies everywhere, blurred textures all over the place and so on.

I did notice the framerate being really bad at the end of the demo when you fought that giant monster, hopefully the full game has atleast a steady 30 frames.

The game has gone gold.

There is only so much a patch can be expected to do. True serious optimization is on the engine and that's not something they often fuck with in patches.
