So, I think the previous Pokémon and Zelda PR (in SweetDonuts's post) made it sound like Pokémon was first. This newer PR above makes it sound like Zelda first. I guess we will have to say but as GMPoo said above, it sounds like Reggie + Zelda then Pokémon first look then a longer Zelda look. Anyone interpreting the above differently? (I'm kind of combining the two PR statements to reach my conclusion here. Which is admittedly partly speculative. It's sort of murky just what they mean in terms of the order of things.)

(Actually, re-reading the above PR, I honestly don't know what to think. It makes it sound like there not be a dedicated Zelda trailer rather than just live gameplay and at this point that would surprise me. I guess even if we didn't get one during the presentation I would still expect one to be uploaded by Nintendo. We will have to see in just 18 hrs or so...)

Well i would say that was part of the problem of the Wii from the beginning. If your innovations won't make Zelda, or Mario better, intuitively and obviously, they are irrelevant to your real long term goal.

I damn hope they understood that.

In other words, if the NX design, and concept, or innovations, are not relevant to upgrade an ambitious open world zelda.... It's not even worth it lol.
Would that be a clue that NX's direction will be really mainstream and try to reach a new audience again ?
 
I'm so bummed the stream will start with Pokemon. I don't care about Sun/Moon at all; the Zelda subtitle alone excites me infinitely more.

EDIT: Oh, hmm. Now I'm confused.
 
I have lots of work to do until the event starts, but I have no idea how I'm gonna do it. I'm so excited about the new Zelda I can't concentrate.

I see yout point,but with a cross-gen game like this I'm going to say "not necessarily" (in response to your question). I think if the first Zelda NX exclusive game or Mario NX exclusive game doesn't show off a purpose of being on a stronger console, then you are correct. However, with a cross-gen game like this Nintendo won't want to offer a markedly different game other than more surface changes to controls and graphics, because they don't want Wii U owners to feel like they're missing out on the real game. I'm assuming by upgrade you mean something more significant and different than this.

FWIW, we (IMO) saw this specifically with Twilight Princess and Skyward. The former offered the same experience as its cross-gen partner with better graphics and different controls but no significant changes otherwise. The latter offered a brand new kind of Zelda with immersive 1:1 motion controls and the game built around that.

It has nothing to do with the Wii and everything to do with costs. They won't change drastically how the game looks, and if it's been thought from the beginning to use the GamePad and the NX doesn't have one, well... and they won't delay the game too much, they'll want it to be a launch title for NX.

The Wii wasn't that much of a Zelda or Mario machine, and Zelda is not a big system seller. Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit all individually sold more than 3 times of both the Wii Zelda games combined.

The Wii U hardware made games like Splatoon great, but it's likely that the Zelda game will be much more easily adaptable on future hardware. The reason why all major 3D Zelda games (except Skyward Sword, currently) are released on multiple consoles, is partly because the games are expensive to make and the development cycles are long. Development costs need to be distributed over multiple consoles.
 
Super excited to see Zelda properly today.

I hope (in vain) that Nintendo is cheeky and shows a wee teaser of Mario NX or something right at the end of the presentation.

It's really sad that we have to even question how they could reveal a new game to the West while they are at E3. This is a new low.
 
So what is everyone's preparation routine for the upcoming event? I worked out a bit, took a shower, I'm gonna eat something healthy and light. I'll meditate a bit later. I'll probably binge on caffeine/L-theanine. Have to be at optimum intellectual capacity. It's all very spiritual, you understand.

I'm brewing my coffee now, getting corned-beef hash and eggs to eat while the show starts, and homemade mango-peach iced tea because it's gonna get hot where I am.

It's pretty weird that they are starting with Pokemon and revealing Zelda afterwards... As I'm watching Pokemon, my thirst for Zelda will skyrocket.

Finally caved and bought a New 3DS XL after owning nothing but the original model.
I had no idea the screen was this much bigger, damn. What have I been doing all my life?

I hope they either don't have voice acting or have it for everyone but link and have them speak some kind of gibberish or something similair to ICO/Shadow of the Colossus.
I don't want them speaking in english.

As it happens I'm gonna be having peach ice tea myself. Cool drink + E3 is my jam.
