Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

I'm pretty sure there's a drink that makes Frank spit lethal acid too. Apparently it makes the final boss a complete joke. I don't know the recipe though.

Decided to take a break from DR1 and played a little bit of DR2, which was the last DR game I played on the X360. Still a bit fresh actually. Also, you get all the pre-order DLC outfits in the safe room restroom! The ninja outfit is basically easy mode.

Can't decide if I want to play OTR for the first time or pull out my 360 and play Case Zero before jumping into DR2, eventually moving to Case West.

Wow, the old Ross glitch is still in here. I can't remember if it happens to other survivors you have to carry but basically Ross won't climb the little ledge to get to the vent to the security room and you have to keep nudging him and hope he climbs up randomly.

Very little known fact in DR1: Frank can spit at zombies with sound effect and all.

While unequipped, simply hold the right trigger and press X (Xbox) or Square (DS4) button
to pay respect disrespect
.
I'm surprised, I found this out in the first ten minutes trying to remember the controls, haha.

I like how Frank gets nosebleeds whenever you take erotica photos.
Man, this many years later and I never knew about that. Awesome.

I'm having trouble beating Isabela because I'm so short on time. I can get her health down pretty fast, but she ends up driving away due to time constraints.

I do have a save open where I could attempt killing the sniper psychos and rescuing 4 survivors at a quicker pace.

I always use the Aim + Y thing to get survivors to climb up the ledge. Does that not work with Ross? They were always useless at it otherwise as I remember.

Yeah, I do that too. If they still get stuck, just run into them until someone finally jumps up.

How platinumable are these games?
What's the best one of them?

Like, did 2 get a bunch of QoL improvements?
2 strikes a better balance between frustrating and too easy. Survivor AI isn't dogshit, for one thing. At the start of both games, you'll have a hard time actually keeping up with the timer. As you level up, they both become considerably easier, though the original still has that awful AI that you have to put up with. I do prefer not having any emphasis on combo weapons in 1 though. Plus, better protagonist.

Regarding platinum, prepare for mind-numbing repetition. Mainly because of the trophies where you have to kill tens of thousands of zombies in a single playthrough, so you have to spend hours driving a car around and mowing down zombies. Which sounds fun, but quickly becomes dull.

2 has by far the easiest timer of the three games, though. Survivors are not a good balance in 2, they are commandos who are the equiv of mini chainsaws with books. Equip the two survivor books in 2 and give them all LMGs and you'll be running a 9 man death squad until vomit zeds show up.

Guys, never played Dead Rising and I'm about to start this. Any tips for a total beginner?

Also, does the PC version has more than one save?

3's timer is far, far easier.

PC has more than 1 save slot. As for tips, don't go in expecting to be able to do everything on your first go. Do whatever you can, and level up. Your skills and stats carry over on a new game, so you can restart the story and actually finish it. And don't bother fighting the convicts straight away, you'll more than likely be completely unequipped to do so. Just run away.

Not only is the first one more rewarding to play because it's a little harder ( sure sometimes it's also tedious if you have 5 survivors all trying to jump on the ramp near the safe house.. GET THE FUCK UP THERE AARGGHH lol ).

But mostly because I feel Willamette Mall is a better location then the casino's in DR2. Also great mall music

Is DR2 working now on PS4 or?

By "of the three" I was talking about OTR, DR1, and DR2. OTR's timer is slightly stricter due to Uranus Zone and the zombies being much more grab friendly towards survivors.

I don't even really consider DR3 to even have a timer, even if it technically has one.

I've been micromanaging them by bumping some out of the way to allow one to climb up, repeat.

I actually have had fairly minimal Survivor AI problems overall, mostly been sending them forward with the target command, and micromanaging them with bumps when necessary (stuck on stairs for example).

This is a real difficult run I'm attempting.

Have to kill Isabella, run back to kill the sniper psychos, save 4 hostages, then run back to meet Isabella.

There are no seconds to spare here.

Don't try and finish the whole campaign right off the bat. Do what you want, so explore and experiment with weapons / builds to your heart's content until you feel comfortable after x level. The multi-tasking aspect becomes a lot more manageable once you have some general notes in the back of your head.

Also a pro tip in case no one knows about it: You can use the knee drop move to negate fall damage and shave a few seconds when running around.
You can roll off of edges with a skateboard too and there's also this 'stylish' alternative:

I want to know what idiot decided to put the Kent boss fight at the same time as Kendell's mutiny. Otis' dialogue about it lasts five minutes, so you have to run around with the transceiver while Kent chases you or fight him while the damn thing beeps endlessly. Also didn't help that Kent completely destroyed me five times because his jump kick and tackle can both juggle for infinite damage

it also helps when one or more survivors can have their hand held so you can pull them out of the way

I hope somebody makes a mod that moves the air vent button prompt to the ledge itself so you don't have to bother.

Here's a tip: now that loading is so fast between areas, you can use the loading as an exploit for survivors without frustration. For instance, I was trying to get Yuu, Shinji, and Dave out of the North Plaza to Wonderland Plaza. I had everyone in they bathroom and had to make a dangerous journey because Dave needed a shoulder. What I did was carry Dave and commanded Yuu and Shinji to follow me. I got Dave to the exit but the other 2 were stuck in hordes. I walked Dave through the exit and then went right back into North. Because the Zombies randomize when you load an area, Yuu and Shinji were free to make a little progress. I had to go in and out a few more times, but the guys took minimal damage. We picked up Greg in the Wonderland bathroom and used the shortcut back to Paradise, where I used this exploit a few more times to get everyone through to the safe house.

The survivor's AI are ruining the game for me. They are just ridiculously bad, it's impossible to travel with them, impossible. They get stuck for no reason, can't handle themselves... ugh, just awful.

And some japonese guys won't even talk to me.

This game I don't even...

So they actually did censor something lol.

Giving them shotguns can help, but yeah, they're dreadful. Try using waypoints instead of just telling them to follow you.
You need the Japanese language magazine to speak to the tourists. It's in exact same shop as them.

Is this thread an unofficial OT for 2 and OTR?

I bought OTR, never played it despite finishing the first 2. Having much more fun than 2, haven't even started the sandbox mode.

OTR question:
Please tell me I learn that awesome rip guts out move from DR1, I'm level 20 and all the moves I'm learning I remember from DR1 so I'm hoping I do. That move worked on mercenaries, so awesome.

I'm merely level 5, I don't have access to shotguns. Where can I find one?

What's the best way to level up, and how can I recharge the camera?

Look around where they are holed up a little more and you'll find a way to talk to them.

And yeah the survivor AI in DR1 is atrocious. Much improved in DR2 and onward. I'm certainly enjoying replaying DR1 but some of it is nostalgia of course. I can see how some of the game's issues would turn a newcomer off of it. Then again I don't mind how the series has evolved and many others here hate it, so it comes down to tastes. If you find DR1 too frustrating though I would recommend giving DR2 a shot.

Shotguns are in a gun shop in North Plaza. It's in between the grocery store and the hardware store, in a little hallway with signs pointing to it.

Depending on when you get there, be advised that there's a potential psycho fight in there.

Best way to level up is survivor rescues. You can recharge your camera in a store just to the right of where you enter the mall from the air vents/warehouse.

The shirt was always like this in the European versions at least... Maybe they just used that version as a base?

Yeah, I just can't save the survivors. I can't. If the AI is not dumb enough, the guys in the jeep won't leave me alone.

I hate this game. I whish I could ask for a refund.

Alright going to attempt my run again.

I might go grab the sports book and a skateboard real fast to speed this up. EDIT: on second thought this isn't really going to help anything as I use the Wonderland shortcut and then have access to a motorcycle after defeating Isabella.

This is a real difficult run I'm attempting.

Have to kill Isabella, run back to kill the sniper psychos, save 4 hostages, then run back to meet Isabella.

Then ignore them, it's not a big deal.

Alternatively look at my tip about exiting and reentering an area.

This was the most bullshit boss fight for me that I ended up having to cheese 100%. I had the sniper rifles from the dad and brothers. If you hide in the sword shop next to the supermarket Isabela will drive away out of the area. When you come out of the sword shop and stand in front of its entrance she'll take the same route back towards you driving up and over the raised scaffolding on the left, giving you plenty of time to get your aim ready and shoot her as she approaches. Rinse and repeat. Absolutely no idea how would beat her with melee weapons.

Can I ignore them without completely crippling my playthrough? I mean, if they are the only way to level up...
You still get a good amount of exp for them joining even if you don't save them. Don't be afraid to restart either. Skipping through scenes you've already seen makes everything go by quicker.

I just accidentally killed Sophie with a rock, she died in one hit

I'm glad I don't care too much about survivors but jeez

Yeah, certain weapons like the rock and dumbbell seem to be instant kill if you hit a zombie or survivor directly in the head. Kind of tricky to hit all the time, especially when you're stuck in the middle of a hoard and have to act quickly.

I waited so long for this to come out on anything else after I sold my 360. Happy weekend after so much working. Are dead rising 2+OTR okay on ps4?

Never had that issue with him. I carried him to the ledge, then ordered him and his wife to go the the vent, and they did so.

I was able to replicate it three more times in a row by re-loading my file so it's definitely an issue. Easy to get around though, but still annoying.
