Still not word from Dice about BF 1 patch?.
No. There a a few comparison videos but both sides look identical leading me to believe it there isn't a Pro mode yet, which is why no one with a wild PS4 Pro is uploading anything.
It's really funny how some "journalists" are comparing the two not realizing there isn't a difference yet and then say how the Pro isn't worth it.
We have a 4K HDR TV, but no PS4 Pro for me. Got the One S instead, because of it's UHD Blu-ray support.

Not sure what part about not knowing specifics of hardware and APIs back then is so elusive so ill bring it down for you:No. You posted that it should be able to take advantage of clock speeds regardless of API, which implies that there's no risk to compatibility. Now you're posting that taking advantages of unknown clock speeds can break compatibility. I find it silly that you're now telling people that they don't understand how programming works when you yourself said close to the same thing a few months ago. That's what I'm talking about.
What, really? Who?
I did in my review, but said that the differences are incredibly subtle. There *ARE* differences, it runs at a native 1080p. It's noticeable, and I'll stand by my claims
clueless cnet.
Native 4K is now an "extremely subtle improvement" I guess. lol.
I see that you completely missed my point. End of story? Okay.

Lots of us had this line of thinking - OG is 2 apples, Neo is 2 apples and 2 oranges.
Reality: Neo is 1 apple, 1 pear, 2 oranges.
The pear can function like an apple but requires new APIs to function like a pear.
Lots of what we thought back then and how Sony handled it turned out to be wrong because a very small fraction of devs knew what was going on.
Assuming the APIs were the same we wouldn't have much of an issue, but to use the pear, we need new APIs. So locking shit that ISN'T updated to the new APIs is preferred since the old APIs didn't know the pear existed, at that point.
There's no point in arguing about anything that was said when the rules changed mid-game. If that is too much for you, then I don't know what to say. Shit changed. End of story.

Shouldn't that be impossible given the fact that it hasn't received a patch yet?
So the whole apple/pear thing didn't fly.I see that you completely missed my point. End of story? Okay.
Oh it shouldn't, but leaked slides doesn't mean much as there's no way to prove they were real. Now that the cat is out of the bag, different story.Still sounds more like they deliberately made a pear instead of an apple for fear of breaking compatibility and therefore 'locked' this behind the new API. They said from the start (if you count the leaked slides as a starting point) they were going to do this and of course it's going to be reflected in the API (how else would you turn this into a pear), so I don't understand why 'shit' suddenly changed.
This doesn't really affect the argument that higher clock speeds wouldn't break anything.
Shouldn't that be impossible given the fact that it hasn't received a patch yet?
With you working first hand as a dev and you're familar with programming at a low level for the PS4, can you explain why we're seeing a difference between Xbox and PS4 in-terms of games running on new hardware in a high-level view? Before we had kits in hand, knew the specs, etc.
No shit? No shit!
Btw, lots of us devs didn't know the changes until just recently. Not just hardware changes, but APIs for the new hardware.
Please, son.
This is not "Pro" mode for BF1. It's just slight increase in performance as BF1 has dynamic resolution. People thinking there will be 0 difference running unpatched PS4 games in the Pro seem to not comprehend how hardware works. Then we have those that spam the 1-3fps boost *some* games get on Xbox One S as some gigantic reason the PS4 Pro is bad.Okay. Well, Dice should share some info maybe then..
Weird.
I don't work with low level. Not needed for what I'm doing. Small bumps to S isn't a big deal compared to bumps with the Pro, though. There's differences between how Sony and MS like their hardware handled and games are made to reflect those differences on hardware. I honestly haven't worked on XO in a while so I'm not up to date on their changes which is why I don't say much on the XO side. With you working first hand as a dev and you're familar with programming at a low level for the PS4, can you explain why we're seeing a difference between Xbox and PS4 in-terms of games running on new hardware in a high-level view?
I'm really intruiged about this. I thought both vendors provided low-level API's, that in effect should of made the 1S in the same situation as the pro, but it isn't.
Does the PS4 Pro upscale (not checkerboard render) unpatched games to 4K in a similar way as the Xbox One S does, or does it not upscale 1080p games at all that aren't patched, and it's left up to the TV? If it does upscale similarly, are there any appreciable differences? Just wondering if it actually does a better job at that than what most TVs will do, or if I can expect unpatched games to just look like how they already look on the standard PS4.
Any word yet if an SSD is worth it?
The Pro is my first PS4, so I'm wondering if it makes more sense just throwing one in immediately rather than the hassle of copying everything later (if that even is a hassle?)?

Fact of the matter is that the CPU is still going to run faster and with half the GPU disabled it'll still be over 2TF instead of 1.8 so there will be slightly better performance on *some* games as well. Just wait for the comparisons.

Id be interested in returning to FF14 if image quality was improved.
Q. So you're saying, players will have no problem continuing to play on the current PS4 and those who want to play with beautiful graphics are free to play on the PS4 pro which will be FFXIV compatible.
A. That's right. If players are satisfied with the current environment with PS4's neat graphics that's enough and if players are willing to invest money into their hardware to play with an even better environment, we'd like to respond to those voices. So of course we are intending to do so.
If you have a decent PC, I can't see the point in getting a Scorpio. With the PS4/PS4 Pro, at least there will be some exclusives there, but PC V Scorpio is a slam dunk for the former.

Nice. Did you collect all 30 films in the UHD-BD catalog yet?
Enjoy!
Thanks for the driveby
Mixed opinions, some say it's very silent (e.g. Push Square), some say it's closer to the CUH-1200 than the Slim (DF in particular). No professional measurements AFAIK, but I guess DF will have it soon. But how about the noise?
But how about the noise?
I only saw the bit from DF and it's superficial testing to say the least...
Yup, still waiting patiently for SSD news, can't believe no ones tried it yet, its guaranteed clicks..
Is it just me but do all of these reviews seem a bit light? Even digital foundry's seem a bit half assed. Where are the noise metrics, vr comparisons , remote play analysis, etc. They have had the consoles for about a week and we know hardly anything new.
lololol so petty but I laughed

The DF analysis of UC4 and TF2 is very disappointing. 1440p?
I could be wrong.
These outlets were given review consoles.
I don't think they will publish overly critical stuff til after the console is out in the wild when it is fair game.
Sony isn't going to be happy giving someone a console for them to nitpick every little thing during launch promotion.
What about framerate in MP?It should be, but it's definitely there. Whether it's running at a variable resolution, but higher, I have no idea. I'll do some screenshots later of what I mean
