Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

House of the Dead Overkill is on Steam as a bonus mode in Typing of the Dead Overkill, which is also great. There's also Blue Estate, which seemed pretty crummy from what I played. I do own Rambo (it looks like it's going to be removed soon -- the base price went from $20 to $3 which is never a good sign) but haven't played it yet.

I forgot about Overkill, I actually own it and have played it, I was thinking more of the main titles of the series.

Now I wish we'd see the other "Typing of the Dead" games.
I'll check Blue estate though, first time I hear about it, thanks.

I suppose for $1 I could do worse than Rambo, might as well just find out by myself.

Bought Hand of Fate. Might leave it there for now, the real good deals are the weekly game bundles these days, not the Steam sales. Plus, there's only so many games I can play, I'm dancing between like 20 installed games.

may I recommend ... GAME PUMP?!?!?!

My money couldn't go to a wiser consortium. Please tell me, where on the PUMP shall I insert my patronage?

Forgot already, since I haven't played it I guess I'd give a chance to the last Need For Speed game a shot finally since EA had the Deluxe edition for $12.49. I didn't care for the PS3 version of Rivals with the janky and flatout bad frame rate and online bullshit and I know that the latter hasn't changed with this one but hopefully I can at least get $12.49 worth of enjoyment out of it. I think The Crew might've spoiled me though since IMO it's a better NFS than at least the last two or three.

It's also in Origin Access for $5 a month, if you wanted more of a rental.

Anyone played Rambo The Video Game: Baker Team?

Hard to get a feeling of the game quality when most negative reviews are simply complaining it's a on-rail shooter, which I see as a positive as long as it's a good on-rails shooter (Steam doesn't has enough of those, where's my House of the Dead?).

There's also the 2 Heavy Fire games: Afghanistan and Shattered Spear. The first one was alright, what I played of it, haven't tried the second.

Trying to decide between Everspace and House of the Dying Sun. :s

Is the steam version of ff6 still hated or what?

It's OK, I've heard from people who've played it that way that you get used to the change in art style after a while, and aside from that it's basically the same game. I'd recommend either the SNES version or the GBA version with the music + brightness fanpatches as the definitive versions of the game (GBA version has additional content and fixes some bugs in the SNES version, but the SNES version has some very, extremely minor graphical flourishes that don't show up on the GBA. iirc the GBA is cropped, which generally is no problem, but in like one or two scenes the SNES has something on the sides of the screen that look neat), but the Steam/mobile version is actually decent.

So far grabbed Sethian, Seraph, Amphora, and Moekuri... pretty sure all of those games were GAFfer recommends over the past few months :P except maybe Amphora, I honestly can't remember where that came from. Probably going to grab another batch towards the end of the sale but I suspect I may end up with a Steam giftcard in the next few days so holding off.

Speaking of SteamGAF though, I think my friends list is emptier than it should be of ya'll... feel free to add me! I won't beat your top score in like, 99% of games, no worries ;)

InsanitysMuse on Steam

So far the only ones I might be interested in are Project Cars, Deus ex mankind divided, and necropolis brutal edition. I have pretty much all the games I want.

did the Brutal Edition update massively improve Necropolis? I notice the reviews on steam are very good now, which was not the case some months ago, and I remember most people being disapointed with the game at release.

It's also in Origin Access for $5 a month, if you wanted more of a rental.

Only thing is that if I paid for that I'd feel a strong obligation to use it as much as possible even though for the price of the game I could use that for two months I have a problem with subscription services where I feel the need to use them as much as possible to justify paying for it which was a problem I had with WoW and Runescape before it, I'd rather just pay once and not put pressure on myself to make use of it.

Dumb I know.

Stellaris worth 20?

Easily, assuming that you're into grand strategy games and don't mind that it's more shallow than, say, Europa Universalis. Since I got Stellaris I've put no time into Galactic Civilizations since it scratches that itch for me.

MGSV:TPP for $10.80 after code Wintersale

(currently on steam for $24)

this site inexplicably:
1) Requires that passwords be shorter than 20 characters and not contain symbols
2) Requires your full address info and personal information
3) Doesn't take Paypal but does take "Alipay"
4) Is incorporated in China

YEPPPPP

Edit: If you go into the change your account info, for example because you're worried about them spamming you, they require a telephone number???

Telephone number can be anything. I put a fake one and it let me save.

I went back in after my order and removed all the personal info I could. Fingers crossed!

Do we for sure know if the current sales stretch for the whole thing? Things I wanna get, but wanna wait to see if I get Steam cards for Christmas.
