As really fucking ridiculously extreme as this is (and seriously dude, fucking hell), it is correct that we're already living in one this most sexually open, promiscuous, hedonistic and non traditionally family oriented eras in all of human history, and we are increasingly bloody miserable, isolated and mentally ill.

What's more, when you look back at other eras that became as decadent and 'sexually liberated', it inevitably proceeded societal collapse and the death throes of major civilisations.

Moreover, the actual promiscuity of most of those times is massively overstated, not that it didn't happen at certain points in those empires history.

There were shifts in power, faith and cultural norms several times over in both the greek and roman empires, and there were just as many times such behaviour would get you crucified instead of celebrated, but most often you'd simply be publically shamed.

The really decadent stuff was usually coinciding with a decline in power, social cohesion, military might, foreign influence and prosperity, as well ad before regime changes, invasions or the incredibly violent birth of modern christianity, that saw a very grisly end to those publically giving into their carnal desires.

Nuance. Do Catholic countries have low birth rates? No. The Catholic Church tries to channel sexual desire into a healthy relationship. Obviously they have failed to a great extent, but they have succeeded more than we give them credit for: they ended pederastry, as well as sex slavery in ancient Rome.

Our society tries so hard to unrepress sexual desire, and yet there are studies that show that people are actually having less sex than in the past.
