The difference is that Larian didn't come across as if they had an agenda, and they certainly weren't preachy about any of the content in their game that can be considered "inclusive". It also helps that the game is tremendously well written, so nothing feels out of place.
This is what people need to understand, there has been representation across media and entertainment for pretty much as long as it's existed, but previously none of it was forced, it was natural and the people who were in charge of creating/directing the work certainly weren't doing it for brownie points.

I not into BG3 but even I'll say BG3 would still be successful no matter what. It's a game with much deeper writing than the usual woke games and offers tons of different choices/options which was the main selling point and focus and not just a forced nasty message. It's similar to how New Vegas is with its great lore, writing, and choices and that's easily one of the best games of all times to a lot of people.

All allow you customization of characters that go beyond male/female.
Hogwarts legacy will not make you select a pronoun, but if you make a non-binary character they will refer to you as they.
Starfield AND Baldur's Gate 3 have pronoun selection.
Then cyberpunk 2077 where you can also play a lot with character creation but I don't recall (or cared) if they change pronouns to they while playing.

Starfield is avg game at best, so lets not mix it up with great games plz.
Both HL and CP2077 were cancelled/boycoted hard on rainbow forum/by woke clowns, ofc with 0 results like all of their boycots end.
BG3 is top notch game that provided players with tons of options/value and polish, and didnt push woke agenda down our throats, so it was basically 99% of amazing game sprinkled with 1% of not invasive wokeness which could totally be not seen at all if some1 chose to, simple as that.
