EDIT: The main takeaway is that releasing bad remasters and inferior versions at higher prices in order to maintain the perceived monetary value of old games for younger audiences shatters our collective cultural memory. It excludes younger audiences from the full experience and kills our nostalgia for the game, thereby diluting the posterity of the game.
Instead of this approach, publishers should focus on releasing low-priced ports that do not compromise the art direction, with improved FPS, resolution and anti-aliasing (basically GTA IV Fusion Fix), or a cohesive, AAA-priced remake from the ground up, where the complete game is remade to fit current technology (RE4, TLOU).
