Ghost of Yotei |OT| Jin there, done that

Found a hat that completes my look

Also I did some testing with a cursed mask I found that increases damage taken and given: it DOES have an effect on Lethal difficulty, but the damage output increase isn't that useful against regular enemies. Definitely good during duels though.

Anyone been able to pull off the mounted tackle from horseback? I have the ability unlocked but it does nothing when I try to execute it. Didn't have this issue in Tsushima.

Nah it's identical, but difficulty/aggression has been raised a little on each mode.

Makes sense as she is merely a woman after all ;)
I just know nothing in GOT was such a difficult fight as Takezo .both on lethal.

Dlc included (except maybe SAO lmao, eff that guy from the arena)

Digging this story. Very different from Tsushima. Atsu is a good character.

Can't get over how gorgeous the landscape is. None of the pre-launch videos or screenshots have done this game justice.

Might as well post some of my pics as well.

I'm primarily wearing this all-white Kimono, looks plain at first but all the blood red streaks on it at the end of combat looks very Jackson Pollock.

I don't believe you. Send me your copy so I can see if you are telling the truth or not.

No, she was clearly shown dying and then being brought back. I even play with subtitles, and there was a distinct dying gasp right before she died
No, didn't see it that way at all but I'll have to watch closer on my next playthrough.

------

Was walking around an inn, and one of the patrons remarked to his buddy, "Anyone else smell rotting fish?" as I passed by.

Maybe I'm being a little overly sensitive, but that's a pretty misogynistic comment if I've ever heard one. I'm not offended by it, but I find it hilarious that it was allowed a pass in this day and age. Some balls.

Damn, SP.

No I haven't forgotten, I'd just argue that the way it was conveyed was more along the line of a grievous wound she would need to recover from, especially since she gets up and walks away afterwards.
The superstitious villagers took it as coming back from the dead, as by their comments on seeing her walking confirm, calling her Onryo right then and there.
There are NPC conversations you can overhear later in the game that confirm this rumor's spreading.

That's fair enough.

NPCs deserve some love in this thread. The models are actually not bad. They either need to be in the perfect location to benefit from the single RTGI bounce, or always be perfectly lit with baked lighting.

Examples of dynamic RTGI magic in indirectly lit areas.

No filters there. Just moving the camera to the blood added a red hue to the shot!

Meanwhile, here is an example of near perfect baked lighting as the NPC is in this fixed area always and lit accordingly. Switching to performance mode barely made any difference

I'm 42 hours in and only now got to chapter 2. I've been no-lifeing this game since it came out 3 days ago. This game is fucking *huge*. Easily double of the time I spent in Tsushima and that game is one of my favourite games. I've done a metric shit ton of side content and I'm sure I still missed some. This game is absolutely fantastic and a worthy successor to the original. Atsu might not nearly reach Jin's level, but I'm still invested in her story and how it all unfolds. I was very iffy on the concept of this game during its marketing phase, but they knocked it out of the park. Jin driving back the Mongol invasion will forever be the most badass idea to me, but hunting down the murderers of your family in the lawless Ezo does work better than I thought.

Everything else is defintely a huge improvement, even the removal of the stances which I was worried about. Combat really *clicks* when you manage to pull it off and it feels crisp and badass. I also really like how they designed the world, not just from an art perspective but moreso in the fact that there's always something going on, the content comes *towards* you and it all feels organic. So much to discover, so many places to see, so many "systems" reacting to your hunt of the Yotei Six. It's not quite the checklist feeling that happens in Ubi games, mostly because a lot of content feels "hidden". That one time I hit up a random bamboo stand, some old woman came to me and warned me about a thief trying to steal my sword. Moments later I happened to stumble across that same dude and Atsu was like "hey, I heard about you". It's little things like that that make the world feel more alive to me. The quality of the content is also better. That spider lily legend was cool as shit.

I'm glad that that Sucker Punch still has it. Banger of a video game. There was a random NPC in an inn that mentioned how he would like to go to China. I'm sure this is just some random chatter, but man, the idea of a "Ghost of China"? That would be crazy.

agreed either way all except.

Jin was boring af…

Atsu is so much better

Kitsune area got me back into the game. I've cleared every area up to this and I was going to skip content here and just focus on specific stuff but man this area does some good changes to want to clear it all up too.

This game needed a transmog system baaaad. Like when the fuck am I going go use the ninja armor? It's dog shit stat wise but looks so cool.

Those who already played the game and almost finish, may I ask if there really is none of that push and force woke agenda especially pertaining twisted gender ideology crap like transgender, force same sex relatioship, pronouns crap? Thanks.

At some point when you explore enough, you will get to choose a name. Ran into this within 20 minutes of getting to the very first in. Now I wonder if you could actually get through the entire game without a name.

Damn, that would suck. She literally calls him by name in every sentence after that…

I don't know what to tell you man, I've explored a huge chunk of the first area and the Oni area and I'm now making my way up north and she still calls the horse "boy".

I don't know how many hours I'm in (quite a bit) but I've got 3 dead Yotei: Snake, Oni and Kitsune. Kitsune looks the best imo.

I haven't really been following the main story as much as I've been running around to open the map, upgrade weapons/health, etc. It's a fun ride.

About 15 hours in, barely scratched the surface, and it keeps getting better and better.
According to the first trailers, I thought this would be mind-numbingly boring base clearing and box ticking, but to me it's more of a very polished blend of RDR2, Sekiro and Breath of the Wild, with some small sprinkles of HFW + God of War here and there maybe. There's so much exploring to do in this interesting, gorgeous world, which can look absolutely stunning:

The combat is so satisfyingly visceral (on lethal)! I've been focusing on the assassination part for now, though, 'cause I'm too slow yet. :messenger_smiling:

A bit strange, as he's usually pretty good at getting his reviews out prior to release, and he was pretty big on Tsushima. Haven't heard a peep about this from him.
In the last episode of "this week in video games" he said he's working on this, but is moving right now so he's behind with it (and pretty much everything). His review should still come soon-ish.

Takezo the unbeatable on lethal was some bullshit, duels are basically one shot kill, if you make 1-2 mistakes you are done.

Hopefully the tecnique i learned from him is worthy.

Had my first Duel with Takezo, fist fight easy second fight easy once you get rid of his katana.
How do you disarm him if he never does a yellow attack?

Can you start a yellow attack by yourself? I saw something in the skill tree but i haven't looked into this whole disarm thing too much.

Yeah the katana phase is what fucked me up the most.

Didn't know this was made and by IGN of all places. But yes, this is literally the issue I hinted at in my prior post, the eye rolling "revenge bad" that cropped up again here.

Once the main plot took this turn... it just became shit, like if this was a true Samurai revenge story she should of kept killing until she died herself in the mutual self destruction after her task was done, a dead (wo)man walking, a ghost.

Instead though we got this plot again for like the 5th time. I suspect she will get a sequel when Jin never did, and we all know why. It sure as hell aint because shes a better character.
An Atsu sequel would be insanely lame. Based on their timeskips I'd wager that the third game, if Sony greenlights it, will take place around the end of the samurai, late 1800s. But I would prefer a far future sequel with laser katanas to jump on the Intergalactic style train.

I think stand offs are my single favorite thing to do in the Ghost games. Just so cool
I play so aggressive now compared to Tsushima, I see a camp, no pussy footing around doing stealth kills, I'd rather do 2 or 3 standoffs and slaughter them (standoff, kill 3, finish off the fourth or fifth, pick up dropped weapon, run towards the next pack, throw the weapon to kill the first, jumping kick into the next then take the others out (Takezo Dual Slash makes light work of any stragglers), there is usually another group left so final stand off and kill the rest.

In Tsushima, I'm embarrassed to say this, i'd stealth the camp and if I got caught I would run away like a coward and wait until they stop looking for me before I went back in, shameful behaviour, I had brought dishonour to myself. I have now seen the way of the warrior and honour my foes with a quick death in mortal (K)combat. (plus its way more fun)

I've found the charm that prevents death by eating 1/3 of your Spirit to be absolutely essential for Lethal duels. Gives you an extra one or two hits before you die, which lessens the frustration from duels when you're just trying to learn the attack patterns. But you can still be wombo combo'd to death in the blink of an eye, so it doesn't make Lethal trivial by any means.

I have that one but i only have 5 spirit, so 1 hit to die, i stand up, another hit and you are dead, so yeah, 2 hits IF you have at least 3-4 yellow balls, 1 hit if you don't have enough balls.

I probably need to get and level up better amulets\armours to regain my balls with attack and parries, i already made a pre-set for duels and one for exploration but it is not good enough.

In the end i won but it was an absolute bitch to beat.

Does anyone knows what's up with damage in the game ?
If i put lethal aggression for enemies but gives them only medium damage dealt they still kill you in two or three blows max... It is the same damage output than lethal in tsushima, which makes me think their custom difficulty settings are bugged.
