Long term Xbox fan since 2008 with 360, I will be getting a PS6 (also building a gaming PC)

Since last year I have been trying to move away from Xbox. I built a PC with these specs.

Ryzen 5 9600X
MSI B650M Gaming WiFi Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5 RAM
Western Digital SN5000 WD Blue 1 TB NVMe SSD
MSI MAG Forge 320R Cabinet
Cooler Master 240 mm Liquid Cooler
Corsair CX750 Power Supply

I blew my budget with these, so I will get my RTX 4060 later. I realized after I get my RTX 4060, my PC will cost me double that of a PS5 but still be weaker. So I will also get a PS6 when it eventually releases.

I really like Japanese games and in the 360 I played Phantasy Star Universe and Dragons Dogma a lot. But since Xbox One we stopped getting exclusive Japanese games. FF XIV finally arrived but it requires Game Pass Core. Back in those days Phantasy Star Universe and FF XI didn't require Xbox Live subscription.

I hope the rumors of PS3 backwards compatibility are true. Since there are many old Playstation games I am interested in playing.

My only gripe is that there is no Jellyfin support in PS5.

You could also invest in a better GPU and skip the PS6. I have been maining consoles since the Dreamcast, and this year got a new PC and i have no plans to get any next gen console.

Valve's new VR device should be available before the PS6 comes out.
Forget consoles and get a VR helmet.

I say forget consoles, then I go and be a hypocrite picking up a Switch 2 this past week. :( The Mario Galaxy rerelease got me.

PC + PS + Switch will get you covered for all.

The cloud stream PS3 games are not too shabby, and RPCS3 is pretty good now.

I think that natural course for Xbox fans now is to become boring PC gamers and not interesting Sony/Nintendo ones, so I guess you're on the right track.

Yeah, unless you need day one exclusives, skip the PS6 and just invest that monies into a better GPU than the 4060. You can definitely do better than that at this stage of the game.

If you need help deciding and post a budget, I along with others are here to help. Welcome to the Master Race.

The 9600X and the AIO cooler for it are a waste of money, as you could've bought more efficient solutions for a tight budget - to keep more of your money for a bigger GPU. That being said, the 4060 IS faster than the base PS5. Anyways, with the savings mentioned above plus the cash for a 4060, you could almost buy a 9070 XT, which would beat a PS5 Pro.

When having both PC and ps, it's a little redundant and expensive to have the PC be a high performer. All the many games not on ps will be very easy to run.

If getting both, a cheaper PC that gets you some new ability like portability or full browser on the tv is the smart money. Steam deck was just $320 on sale. That + ps is about the same $ as a decent PC.

What is the PS6 for? I'd hold off. I think the PC will be more flexible than you realized. I didn't have an office in my old house. Did all my PC gaming with a controller from the couch. Never ran into any problems playing console type games.
