Cyberpunk 2077 | ROG Xbox Ally X - Switch 2 - Steam Deck | Graphics Comparison

  • Cyberpunk 2077 is a good example for comparing the differences between the new ROG Xbox Ally X, Steam Deck, and Switch 2.
  • ROG Xbox Ally X is capable of running the game at higher settings (as expected), achieving up to 80fps with FSR and medium/high settings.
  • However, FSR does not perform as well as DLSS at low resolutions such as 1080p, so the result is superior on Switch 2 even from lower native resolutions.
  • The difference between Steam Deck and ROG Xbox Ally X is practically generational in every way.
  • I recommend always enabling Frame Generation above 40fps and never below 35fps. If the game cannot natively reach 35-40fps, I recommend lowering the settings or not enabling it.
  • Load times are 3 times faster on ROG Xbox Ally X compared to Switch 2. It also slightly outperforms Steam Deck load times.

I cannot believe after the shit with Switch Nintendo is doing this crap again - Dave the Diver on Switch was taking over 30 seconds for initial load wtf. It seems this is back now. I remember I upgraded the HDD on my PS4 Pro because I couldn't stomach the Witcher 3 loading times.

Why use FSR and not Xess ? Its like ppl want to use the worse upscaling solution ever when comparing with SW2 for some reason.

I still can't believe we are still clutching at the same old straws lol. I guess some are still upset that these powerful handheld pc's are as popular with customers as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip.

Handheld PCs are niche because they are basically the worst way to play PC games. They are only useful for the handheld factor as a laptop would be better suited in a lot of portability scenarios. Nobody buys a Steam Deck to play the latest PC games, you buy it as an accessory for your current Steam library. The far majority of PC gamers use a desktop or laptop.

Switch is completely different, it's a hybrid handheld yes, but is the only way to play Nintendo Switch games. Naturally it's going to sell way more than any PC handheld. That's why any sales comparison between Switch and handheld PC sales are silly, you're comparing an entire platform vs a handful of SKUs mostly used as an accessory.

Pretty sure if these PC handhelds where selling better, it would be compared to oblivion and back on here lol...

It would still be a flawed comparison. If Steam Deck was the only way to enter the Steam ecosystem it would make sense. But it's not, it's probably the worse way to do so outside of portability in a handheld form factor.

Well duh for the exact same reasons he listed - it would be exceptional for a single sku among thousands to sell that amount. Likewise the switch will never move 200 - 300 million units per year like laptop sales.

You are both missing my point. My issue with these endless performance comparison threads is at the core for many it's all down to some sort of Switch/Nintendo resentment, not for all of course. And I have seen very little evidence on the myriad of threads on the subject to convince me otherwise.

I don't think so. This is the first time since GameCube that Nintendo actually put out a hardware that can play the complex, elaborate 3rd party games in a somewhat decent state. If you wanted the same during the Switch era you had to buy another console, there was no way around it. Now you don't have to.

I have no issue with these threads as long as it's constructive but there are many comments that are simply bait. And of course very little in the way of any wider context or indeed nuance.

I wish Nintendo would at least this one time have taken a loss and chosen much better components just to make it somewhat better and futureproof.

It looks like it will get most 3rd parties from now on, how could've been better while still keeping the hybrid format ?

after Gamecube that was actually way more powerful than any other console on the market back in the day, Nintendo is most an exclusive/indie console right now, you can buy a Nintendo game thinking that ll be playing the new games with good performance or high res.

Also, the third party support for newer games may slow down since the console is weaker than a XSS, so if you want to buy a Nintendo console you have to keep in mind that is for exclusives and indies.

i really think 3rd party support ll slow down a couple years from now ( at least for newer title ), at least once the new gen start switch 2 ll be way way more underpowered than anything in the market.

I'm not an expert in technical matters, but I read a lot of opinions about Nintendo having been better off (in performance, not cost) if they chose 5nm instead of the cheaper 8nm for it.

Yeah, maybe. But for that we would need first to stop the cross-gen period, and I think it will last at least until 2032

Hahaha no, this is a losing model.
There is a reason Sony refuses to lower the price of PS5, selling at a loss is good for installbase but not for their profits.

Not true, if they went for a smaller node they would have the choice to up the clock rates a bit for the same battery life or choose better battery life at the same performance.
A smaller node wouldn't have made this thing twice as fast but it would definitely be more expensive.

Sony refuses to lower the price because they have no competition, so no need to do it.
They also didn't lower their prices when Xbox was still a competition.
Don't get me wrong i'm not saying they should sell at a loss, i completely understand why they wouldn't want to be selling at a loss.
In the past they were still building a fanbase, they are large enough and in the market long enough so they don't have to do that anymore.
Also margins on hardware are pretty bad nowadays compared to the past with all the shortages.

you can see it by now, aside from Ubisoft that is really trying to push everything on SW2, the console is missing major games from 2025 and i hope they start to get full support this next year cause i was thinking on buying one by January but i may wait a little longer.

We'll see but I really believe the devkit issue is as big as it seems to be. Like there were more games coming out on Switch 1 than Switch 2 in the last 5 months - and most of them not even having a Switch 2 version - I don't think it's a coincidence. Like Sonic Crossworld launched without a Switch 2 version, which will launch in the coming days.

But by the end of 2026, if we don't see any real big games (besides the ones we already know about, like Indiana Jones or RE9), then we can draw that conclusion I suppose.
