Honestly the best thing about the Beijing ceremony weren't the flashy lights but the sheer scale of people in unison in the stadium performing. That was what took the audiences' breath away and what astounded many; the sheer skill and discipline on show. That was theme for China.

The theme for Boyle, quite evidently, was music tonight.
