So the better question is how can NBC reinvent coverage of Olympic games in other timezones? Obviously this model is not doing them any favors if they lose money on each games.

My best guess is that they'll do pseudo-live, like these fencing matches right now. Delay things by about an hour for the major events so that they can work in commercial breaks. Minor sports might actually be shown live on MSNBC/CNBC.

Except for the west coast, of course. Everything in prime time there.

Outside of the big sports (football, basket, volleyball, tennis, swimming), if you see an italian sportsman, there's a good chance he's in the police or in another armed force!

The three archers for example are members of the Air Force. Sometimes, it's the only way to earn some money for these athletes.

Yes, as far as handball teams go Montenegro's isn't anything great, but I'm still happy we're most likely going to get a win.
