It really does. You can sense the salt from the comments in this thread. Like it or not, Phelps is still the greatest Olympics swimmer of all time. Another medal to add to his collection and one more will make him the greatest Olympian of all time. Stay salty haters. :)

I think you're taking this a bit too seriously.

For fuck's sake people, Phelps has nothing left to prove. He got second. From anyone else, that'd be impressive. Just because he blew everyone's mind in Beijing suddenly being second best at the Olympic games means you suck ass.

Phelps just narrowly lost the opportunity to become the only athlete to win a gold in the same event in three different Olympics.

uh what? You mean in swimming? French canoe guy won his third gold in three olympics today, and who's that english rower with 5?

this. given his age it's actually amazing that he's still competitive in almost every race, but it makes him losing like this all the more frustrating :(

Phelps isn't the greatest olympian of all time. Medals are biased in favour of swimming so that a dominant swimmer for one year can pick up 10+ golds. Best Swimmer of all time though.

Oh god here comes a GB swimmer. Hopefully she has a better attitude than they rest of the women's team apart from Adlington

Nu-uh.

Maybe me being biased but I think Sir Steve Redgraves achievement of 5 Olympic golds at 5 consecutive games puts him ahead of Phelps.

I love Redgrave but Phelps is a better Olympian imo

winning that many medals is heavily skewed in favor of swimmers and gymnasts. he's damn good but getting 19 medals will not make him the greatest olympian of all time.

Le Clos in the interview, I always love to see these people who *don't* expect to medal do well, their reactions are incredible. It was the same with Adlington four years ago.

My apologies to UK-GAF, but every time I see this name, I can't help but think of that Top Gear gardening special.
