Sports funding is a very strange beast.Just realized that some of the small countries arent even shooting with 'competition' carbon limb bows in Archery. According to the Hoyt website, it looks like the girl from Bhutan used intermediate limbs.
We're hosting the damn Olympics but for some reason took away funding from our volleyball squad two years ago.
Seems like a common trend is to over invest in a few sports and ignore others.

You'd think olympic organizers could level the playing field. Although I'm guessing some, if not most archers probably feel comfort in using their own bows.
(Guessing all bows are going to be different too though.)
It means Capitalism is in the way of the Olympic spirit.

There's only so much money, specially in times like these. It's not like two more years of funding would make a big difference for Team GB's performance in the insanely competitive Volleyball scenario.

We spent £10bn hosting the Olympics. We knew we would be competing in many sports we really shouldn't be because of host advantage.
Not throwing those girls a few grand their way is borderline criminal IMO.

Also, there are plenty of empty seats in the final just as there huge chunks of the stadium that were empty in the GB match yesterday. That's pretty shameful.

I know your fucking about, but yes it was and maybe? no idea, but it's like day 5 and so far the events have not been ones we excel at, we could have 2-3 more Golds by tomorrow, certainly some Silver, Rowing, Cycling and prancing Pony's are our thing...

Those things are ridiculous when fully assembled. They look like radio masts or TV aerials.
Yeah, there's something to be said about the cruelty of that move. But I understand the rationale behind "not getting results, not getting money".
