They seriously can't DQ for that.

Talk about punishment not fitting the 'crime'.

How many warnings did the badminton pairs get? 4?

Only medal table that matters, China/USA so bad.

Hell yes.

I'm a fan of the "throwing stuff in the air" contests, so I've got shotput, discus, javelin, et al to look ahead to.

Lots of events still to come!

Yeah, there's still plenty more I want to watch (there's still more archery tomorrow).

But I enjoyed supported Ki Bo Bae :D

Time to take up archery I think!

It's a large part of the Olympics. Always has been (for the nations that actually have a chance).

Exactly, (to who asked originally) before Beijing, Russia was our main rival. They still our in terms of history, but they are no longer as strong in many ways.

China didn't have much of a sprint team in 2008. 1 bronze for an individual woman, nothing else.

But it doesn't look like many countries concentrate on this specific sport.

I wish Pool were an Olympic sport. Philippines would be all over that shit haha.

And smfh @ all the doping idiocy. Just stop it. If there's some shit going on, they'll get found out and DQ'd/banned accordingly. Until then, there's zero reason to worry.

"Jess Varnish pulled off outside of the box." Seems to be the issue according to twitter but no one really knows what is going on.

Discussions still going on. Seems like GB may have been relegated?

When you're from larger countries like the US/Russia/China you certainly care about overall medal count because you expect to be #1.
I don't understand why people think America deems itself to be #1. The United States has almost always been behind the Soviet Union/Russian Federation, and East Germany in the summer Olympics. It is why we approach everything as underdogs. Now we're probably gonna be behind China for the foreseeable future.

Is it that hard to appreciate the skill of the athletes without immediately jumping on the doping bandwagon?

Didn't half of the teams in men's team sprint beat the previous Olympic record as well? And they are only 0.15 behind the world record so it'll probably be broken in the final. It must be the track.

China didn't really care that much about the olympics until they hosted it. They had like 7-8 years to prepare for 2008 and the effect of that is that now they have great athletes.

I'm guessing this is like missing a relay in swimming; automatic DQ...

But really GB already fell and got another chance, might have been a bit much to give them a pass here.
