Thank god track and field is starting tomorrow. Tired of watching the damn swimming.
I can bet that Russia and China are the greatest contenders in individual finals. Gabby will also have beam for herself, the rest of the USA team i don't think so.
Latin America has never had a strong showing in the medal table besides Brazil and Cuba. Mexico is actually already doing much better than we were at this time of the competition in Athens and Beijing --in fact, most pundits in the country only foresaw three medals tops for us at these Olympics.what countries could be considered the biggest losers regarding medals?
I've noticed the table and Argentina hasn't won a single one, any color.
Brazil and Mexico have 4 each and Colombia and Venezuela have 3 each.
Well, those are in fact the only 4 countries in latinamerica with medals, I guess that part of the world as a whole is having a mediocre showing these olympic games.
Isn't it weird how Americans literally win every single swim race? Finals and semis.

Komova only gained a tenth on the floor? Give me a break. She was wayyyyy better than Douglas.
Hey, Swimming is amazing, and probably one of the more popular Olympic sports right now. Phelps is a hero man, a hero!
Haha, that Russian girl in full diva mode. Falls off of the beam, her coach tries to console her, and she angrily dismisses him.
lol...didn't see that on the stream earlier today
I just noticed CTV has a commentary-free stream for every apparatus in Gymnastics. Should have known earlier. >:[

Agreed. She was amazing!
They were bronze in 2004 in Athens, even with Lamar Odom on the team. They are consistent. I especially like the bball talk of banning US professionals or getting rid of Olympic ball all together because no country can compete in that lane with the States. Spain and Germany are the only threats to not lose by 30+.
If only she did't messed up in the beam. She was damn solid in asimetric and floor.Agreed. She was amazing!
Just watched Soni break her world record. The pure skill, talent, and dominance of my fellow Americans never ceases to amaze me.
Can someone explain why the competitors to medals ratio in swimming seems so low? Why does it not appear as specialised as sprinting?
Fellow humans would be more accurate if you are talking Olympics in general, quite a few world records going now
Out of interest do most US high schools have pools? It would tie in with the dominance of the country in the sport
On of the best competitions in track and field in these games, the women's heptathalon is starting today. It should be a great battle between GB's Jessica Ennis and Russia's Tatiana Chernova.
For those who will be watching I suggest having this site handy as it will really help you follow along. Basically it tells you how well an athlete is really doing since all the athletes have their strong and weak events. For example if Chernova is losing to Ennis by less that 200 points at the end of the first day she is basically wining since she has her strongest events on the second day.
I'll stay up for the start of this. 100m hurdles 10:05 GMT.about to go to the club in a bit....but will leave early, maybe around 1:20am...just to make it home to see these women compete.

edit- damn shame I don't know much about the U.S. Women Representatives in the Heptathlon.
I came across Hazel from that Neymar commercial they keep showing a few weeks back. And Jessica is just a Doll. But fierce.

Thanks ALOT for that link.... its funny but this is the main event I've been looking forward to...and I'm staying up all night and tomorrow night for it.
I don't know if any US stations will carry it live...so I'm just going to rely on NBC Sports' Olympics website live streams.
I wonder if BBC one will carry it live.
Jessica needs to have a javelin pb. If she can get that, which she has already set this year, then things are looking good.

Lamar Odom, the star of the 2010 FIBA World Championships went.Because US' best ballers didn't actually go. Young as fuck Bron and Melo (neither of which had a dependable two way game or way to create their own buckets), prime Duncan and AI, and Boozer were the best players on that team.
Sounds like a bronze caliber team to me.

Anyone have a site that compares medal counts for the two Olympics 2008 and 2012? Would be nice to have a chart that shows how each country would be doing if all the events were held in the same order. Not sure if such a thing exists.
Records tumbled in stunning and spectacular fashion, a surreal 29 Team USA three-pointers dropping into the basket in Thursday's Pool A Olympic tournament game. Carmelo Anthony had 37 points, and did so playing in a mere 14 minutes. No one had ever scored so many points in an Olympic game 138 by Brazil in 1988 was the record and the record for three-pointers had been broken before halftime.
Just saw this from the USA game that I missed:
HOLY crap. Speechless at that.

Olympics generally go in the same order. This site might have what you're looking for but it's only for the big 6 countries.
You should go back a few pages and see us losing it. The game was so one sided it was funny.
What is it now, men individual?Final day of archery is about to start up.
