Not sure if you're joking, but if not you should really search for an interview Ian Thorpe did on the BBC regarding this. He said, for <17 year olds, personal bests mean absolutely nothing as the rate of change in their body is much higher than that of an adult. It's really not as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be.

Then the UK should specifically train up youngsters in swimming then.
That's the thing though, I've realised I like it this way. All the sports we're performing at have older athletes (rowing, cycling etc). I don't want the pressure of the Olympics on the shoulders of children - it seems very un-British.

What the hell, if your boat breaks tough luck; the other rowers had no fault and rowed further...oh well.
 
If there is a mechanical fault in the first 100 meters they can restart. The seat is clearly broke so not sure what the controversy is.
 
Do we get special privileges as host nation? We get to restart entire races whenever something goes wrong. It's like a real life version of flashbacks in racing games.
