Wow, USA capitalized on a penalty kick. That team is good.

Come on.

If you know a better term for it I'd love to hear it.

The Canadian keeper was warned by a referee before the holding call. All she had to do was put the ball on the ground.

USA vs Canada was great.

Lol I loved that. Tancredi seemed really pissed off throughout most of the match. I don't watch enough women's football to know if that's typical for her or not.

No, the linesman warned her not to dawdle at the start of the 2nd half. She wasn't given a warning immediately before the holding call. If she did, she would've dropped the ball immediately; she's not that stupid.

I didn't say immediately.

Unrelated, here's Tancredi kicking Carli Lloyd on the head. (didn't make this myself)

That soccer game gave me a huge headache, I still haven't recovered.

Such a great game though, Womens futbol is really good stuff. Sinclair is a warrior.

Pointing out a loser who makes excuses?

The goal tied the game. What's your excuse for the final goal?

Nothing wrong with the final goal, the player who got he knee caved in missed a header which led to the ball going wide to set up the cross.

If I need to explain to you why gifting an opportunity with 10 minutes left isn't game changing than I don't know what to say.

I am not proud about 72 for that reason. Should have been our best against their best but because Bobby Clarke did what he was told to do, Canada had the huge advantage. When I played sport I always wanted to win without controversy, no one wants to win with controversy. If the Americans acknowledged they got lucky it would be ok but when Wambach called the Canadian a diver when she spiked her than they are poor sports.
She probably thought she didn't get her that bad, it wouldn't be the first time a soccer play overplayed an injury. Also, Morgan and Wambach were both saying how the one Candian striker was amazing and that they were lucky to get out with a win in their post game interview so I don't know why you think they're so disrespectful.

You don't need to explain it to me. If you can get upset about that and not feel shame at the tuck rule, then you are a super hero and should call yourself Rationalization Man.

I do feel a little shame about the tuck rule but I don't feel any shame really over the spygate stuff which most people go off on. The slight difference was that one could debate the arm going forward despite the fact that it wasn't while here we have a ref calling something out of thin air. This call today is the equivalent of somebody calling a play dead because someone didn't have their chinstrap on.

Both calls were technically correct yet questionable. Both had massive implications. You were on both sides. If you enjoy one you have to either enjoy them all or look at yourself in the mirror knowing you are a despicable hypocrite. That shouldn't be tough, you already look at yourself in the mirror as a Patriots fan. Hypocrite is small potatoes compared to that atrocity.

I was about to make a Wisconsin joke but I forgot that I am in foreign territory.

Wasn't able to watch the game live, but I'm catching a replay now. See what the controversy is all about.

Just caught the highlights of the USA vs Canada game.

Didn't look like a penalty to me, very harsh call. Can see why it was given but don't think it should have been.

Unlucky Canada.

it's really the one-two punch of what happened which stings most. bad/bizarre calls happen in football, that's just how it is. but two of them consecutively directly leading to a penalty kick? that's pretty rough.

I know I'm late to this, but this picture. My god.

I'm not one to judge a book by its cover, but if I was, I'd think she's the type of girl that's an A class bitch, you wouldn't fuck with her would you?! I kinda like that though, she looks awesome.

Your trying to downplay how good a team is just because of a call the ref made. They can't control that and they aren't less good for taking the shot given to them.

oh? but that shot was actually called by Wambach....reportedly she was the one counting/signaling the 6 seconds in front of the referee

But hey, no, the US play well and fair.

But everything is still up to the ref. I don't see how counting the clock out loud is wrong in any way.

I get a mean girl vibe from a lot of the female gymnasts. They start at such a young age and are constantly under pressure to achieve. It's no wonder.

Really slow day today. At least thats what it felt like to be. Booted up Expat and then realized there was nothing I wanted to watch..... The lineup of athletics was poor for my interests.

Will NBC be showing the men's 400m hurdles or did I miss them already.

V Do not highlight this is you don't know the results already
An aunt called to to me that Felix "Superman Felix" Sanchez of D.R. won the gold so I really don't want to miss it.

Edit: nevermind!

Nobody is discussing the fact that US WNT is Meeting Japan's WNT in the Womens Soccer Olympics Final? a repeat of the World Cup anyone?

EDIT: looks like that's all that is being discussed.

Yep, saw that along with several other rough plays from her. It's no wonder she ended up with 7 fouls (not including the face stomp which wasn't called). Should have been sent off.
